Dear fellow Indians/Asians, If you're even thinking about applying to study in the UK—please, think again. And if Newcastle University is on your list, I urge you with every ounce of experience I have: avoid it at all costs.
The "top rankings" they throw around? Absolutely misleading. These are marketing tactics meant to lure international students—especially from India—because we’re seen as nothing more than cash cows. That’s the reality. We pay more than double the fees compared to domestic students, yet we receive nowhere near the same level of support, opportunities, or value.
Don’t get fooled by the easy application process and the fact that most UK universities don’t charge application fees, Even though you lose a year, try to apply for the universities in Europe or Asian countries, which are really worth the money, or even the US. That’s just bait to get you in the system, make you feel welcomed—before they start draining your finances through inflated tuition, ridiculous accommodation costs, and illogical administrative rules that make no sense and endless living expenses without any support.
If due to some unavoidable reason you must choose the UK, please avoid Newcastle University specifically. Try other universities even within Newcastle if you have to be here—you could literally save half your budget and spare yourself a ton of stress. This university is not worth the money, the time, or the mental toll.
To anyone reading this: don’t let the dream of a "foreign degree" blind you to the reality on the ground. Think smart. Ask questions. Don’t fall for the shine when all it hides is a system designed to profit...
Read moreIf I could, I won't even give 1 star, it will be lower than 0 for me. I studied here for 8 years and the disappointment I have for this university is only ever increasing. For my fellow international students, save yourself some peace and please do not come to this university. My study has been massively delayed (we are saying more than 10 months here) and a lot of stress was induced by the university due to administrative issues. They provided me misleading and false information multiple times and are always only asking for more money. For example, they suddenly asked me to pay £8k more for a 12 weeks extension I've never asked for and was never on record. They named it as a fees free extension as they like after causing a 3 months delay on my transfer process in 2020 without my consent and acknowledgement. Now after 2 years they asked me to pay for the mistakes they made although they already named it 'fees free' lol, threw me under the bus and threatened me to pay for their mistakes if not I won't get my PhD. This is a university who do not care for their students and you will go through a lot of stressful events because of the university incompetency and confusing operations. Do not come here. You...
Read moreEnglish is not my first language and I still consider myself not very fluent in English. Lectures are delivered in English obviously. But unfortunately some of the professors have very strong foreign accents in English, making it more difficult for international students and even native speakers to understand. Once had a 2 hr seminar, felt like the whole seminar was in Spanish. Didn’t understand nothing. It is so frustrating! I wish the university would’ve had invested some money in providing accent softening courses to foreign lecturers/ professors. Due to the fact that English is not my first language, I am still trying to learn proper accent. I would want to learn medicinal terms and names with proper...
