I have stayed in many hotels over the years. Some are excellent for their views and where they're based. I've had to stay in some for purely practical reasons (for a conference or work meeting etc) and so don't get to choose the view or setting...and that was the case for the AC Marriott (Salford Quays).
But the service at this hotel has been amongst the best I have come across! From the moment when I had to check in very late (11.30pm) to all interactions with staff (at breakfast, housekeeping etc) it has been excellent. I'd like to single out Siraj (at breakfast) for his wonderfully quick and efficient dealing with my questions and bespoke order and his colleagues who greeted me each morning as I arrived for breakfast.
I'd also like to single out the two housekeeping staff (two ladies) who were very understanding about me not needing all housekeeping services but who also responded immediately to any requests (for towels or bottled water). They were exemplary in their need for quietness (especially on Saturday mornings!). All these staff interacted with respect and big smiles!
The rooms are clean and functional and I have NO complaints about the room. The breakfast was delicious - again, no complaints. The facilities (shared work space, gym) were exemplary - no complaints.
But the staff make a place and if they do it with smiles it makes a huge difference to the experience and elevates a "routine stay" to a thoroughly enjoyable...

I’ve stayed here multiple times now, and the reason I keep coming back isn’t just the comfort of the rooms – it’s the exceptional staff who truly go above and beyond.
A special mention to Enrico, who has consistently made sure my room is just right every time I’ve stayed. He genuinely cares about the guest experience, and no task is ever too small or inconvenient for him. He goes out of his way to make sure everything is spot on, and it really makes a difference.
Roberta is another shining star – always warm, welcoming, and full of positive energy. She makes you feel like more than just a guest – almost like part of the family. Her friendly attitude instantly puts you at ease and adds a real personal touch to the stay.
Rebecca P also deserves a huge shoutout. She’s always so bubbly, polite, and attentive. Nothing ever feels like a hassle, and her energy is infectious in the best way. On top of that, I’ve noticed how patient and encouraging she is while training new team members. It’s clear she takes pride in what she does and wants to help others grow as well.
Staying here genuinely feels like a home away from home thanks to the dedication of the team. Huge thanks to Enrico, Roberta, and Rebecca P for always making my visits smooth, pleasant, and memorable. You’re all a credit...
Read moreLong review.
Having used this hotel countless times, it has really gone down hill.
rooms. Ripped headboards, foul smells, missing gowns and slippers, WiFi and tv issues, hairs on pillow sheets. Not what it used to be. No longer has the luxurious feel.
parking. £14/24hours. Even if you pay, spaces aren’t guaranteed as it tends to fill up quickly on the weekend ( when I visit) and therefore you cannot park albeit paid for. You are then told to park in another car park across the busy road and pay for that and then wait for your original payment refund. Not ideal.
Cars also block off other cars and aisles over night making it extremely dangerous and a very high possibility of cars being damaged by others. This really needs be reviewed.
staff. Very kind and welcoming. Attentive and will ensure to do what they can for any arising issues. Can’t fault them, they are superb. Very polite!!
clientele. Of course, it’s a hotel so you can’t control this however recently the clientele has been extremely rowdy and if you’re coming for a relaxing stay perhaps steer away.
they also pick and choose when to charge a deposit in my experience, I visited a few weeks ago and wasn’t charged one when I was told I would be. Had to pay this time. Not an issue for me personally, however just...
