Recently have been getting e mails from Beefeater offering discounts on main meals. Have taken advantage of them previously and have enjoyed our visit to the one near Preston and the other outside Blackpool. Well I got another e mail offering 40% off mains meals. Did an internet search and found this Beefeater on Salford Quays so decided to give it a try. Unfortunately this in no way compared to our meals and experience at the other Beefeaters. Sorry to say but this was one of the worst dining experiences we have had in a long time. Car parking is free for up to 3 hours as long as you log your registration once you enter. Once that was done we walked towards the bar. We are both adamant the server behind the bar told us to take a seat and someone would be with us shortly to take our order. The place wasn't busy but after about ten minutes I asked the same server if our order would be taken at the table or did we order at the bar? She replied at the bar. Maybe it's our advancing years affecting our hearing but we both thought she had initially said someone would come over.
My brother went to the bar to get some drinks and order our food. I ordered the Flame Combo. My brother the House Stack Burger. The server put the items through the till. To my surprise she asked if my brother wanted to pay there and then. What if we wanted more drinks or desserts? He explained that I had a code on my phone giving 40% off main meals and we would pay after we had finished. The server did say if we wanted table service we needed to go upstairs. Wish that had been made clear to us as soon as we entered. Drinks consisted of a pint of Moretti at £5.25 and a lime and soda. I think the lime must have been measured out on a teaspoon. Fair enough it was only a £1.00 but would rather pay extra and get some flavour in it.
Neither of us were impressed with the cleanliness of the tables. Ours and a few around had rings on them and didn’t look like they had been wiped down after other customers. Also the base of the tables had bits of dropped food on them. They needed a good clean and wipe down. The men’s toilets at least looked pretty clean but there was no liquid soap in the container on the wall and the bottle on the sink was also empty. I made a note of the time we placed our order. It was a little shy of half an hour before we were served our meals. Seemed a long wait especially as the place didn’t appear busy. We were never asked if we wanted any condiments or sauces and there were none on any of the tables that we could see. Sorry to say the food was as poor as the service. Neither of us enjoyed our meals. The Flame Grill Combo included chargrilled chicken breast. Tough, dry and over cooked. The sausage I didn’t like at all. The ribs did have a decent bit of meat on them but they were tasteless apart from when you got a hint of the barbecue sauce. But again I wasn’t keen on that. Chips and corn were cold and there was no house slaw on my plate. My brothers burger was little better. He said it was tasteless and his onion rings greasy. He left a lot of it. He had eaten the same meal at The Norman Jepson, the Beefeater in Preston recently, and finished the lot.
At no time did anyone come over and ask if everything was ok. Interaction with any staff was minimal. We decided to cut our losses and pay. Thank goodness for the 40% discount. I would have hated to pay full price for that. We didn’t say anything about our experience. We couldn’t see the point but we made our feelings known in another way. It is very rare that we don’t leave a tip or a gratuity when we eat out. This was one of those times. You cannot tip for something that was non existent. Staff appeared totally indifferent to us as customers and we certainly didn’t at any time feel that our custom was welcomed. Still a little shocked at how this could differ so much from the other two Beefeaters we have visited recently. Unfortunately, based on this most recent visit, no matter what discount is offered, it will probably be a while before we venture out to visit a...
Read moreSo I’m actually shocked to have to write this review, I used to go to beefeaters quite regularly and was very satisfied every time, but recently the food and service has been horrendous. I went to this beefeaters with my partner last night and I was actually shocked at the level of service and food standard that was provided. The mains came out and the fish was inedible, the batter on the fish was like dough, the chicken was dry, the nachos were stale, and portions were minimal for what you pay, we don’t usually like to complain in hospitality as we know it can be hard but the place was empty so we asked if the fish could be taken off the bill as it’s not going to be eaten, however was happy to have the rest of the food. the server which has already been complained about multiple times before was rude and arrogant, no apology for being dissatisfied with the food and walked off with an attitude towards the kitchen “it’s inedible apparently” it’s an open kitchen so we can hear that we are being spoken about, the atmosphere put me off my food and I was appalled by the service so asked for a manager, the same server proceeded to laugh in the kitchen with the kitchen staff because we asked for a manager, she was highly disrespectful and made the whole experience shocking, the manager on shift at the time did apologise and clear the bill. You clearly have a problem with this waitress and I think you need to think long and hard about your staff! She was even rude as we proceeded to walk down the stairs out of the building. Beefeater has been contacted directly about this as it was one of the worst experiences in hospitality I’ve ever had to experience. I think a certain someone needs to rethink her job choice as this isn’t the first time judging by the...
Read moreBreakfast is only unlimited if you’re lucky enough to get the staff to serve you more than once… Went here on the morning of Fathers Day: after ordering breakfast from the (assumed) manager - who had a less than impressed look when taking an order for myself, husband and three children, I can say it was served with not too much of a wait. Food was mediocre but the glasses had an awful smell (which I think is down to the dishwasher water not being changed regularly) - so much so we declined to finish our drinks. After eating, our empty crockery remained on the table for at least 30 minutes; I eventually got up to ask a waitress to collect. She was polite enough to do so, but proceeded to not return to take the empty mugs and glasses. After notifying another (extremely rude waitress - who the manager later informed me was named Roz), I was loudly snapped at and told “there is only so much we can do” to which I replied “you shouldn’t have overbooked”, she proceeded to storm over to the bar where she loudly slammed our mugs and glasses on to the counter - at which point I locked eyes with the table next to us who shook their heads in disbelief. Stupidly, rather than paying up and leaving at this point, I got up (again!) to track down another member of staff (happened to be the manager) and asked if possible we could order some more food. Again served pretty swiftly, but by this point we was really over the whole experience that we quickly ate so we could leave ASAP. Paid the bill with the manager whilst expressing my frustration - to which I got a measly “I’m sorry you felt that way”.
I can honestly say that in the 6 years we have been going to Quayside Beefeater, we have never experienced anything like this. Unsure I will return...
