Okay, we all have our different standards, but I travel a lot and usually stay the places I go for a long time. I checked in for one night to test this place out and decided I liked it so I paid for three more nights. Then three more and three more and now I've been here for a few months enjoying Amarillo and spending time with family. First of all, ignore any reviews that refer to it as a Motel 6 because it hasn't been in Motel 6 for years. A very nice family bought it and have spent the entire time they have had it fixing it up and runovating and improving it. Even while I was here they came by with a brand new TV to replace the old one. Since I don't watch TV anyway I told them to take it to a different room and replace mine after I leave.||Yes, it is an older Motel. In fact I remember staying here in 2002 and 2009 on two different visits when it was the Motel 6. That's one reason why I decided to give it a try this trip, that and the sign out in front the said it was $29.99 at night. The $29.99 is from Sunday through Thursday which is understandable because most motels charge more on the weekends. But even on the weekends it's a total of $45 including taxes and fees that are imposed by the city. Many cities I like to visit don't have motels for less than $60 to $80 so I'm tickled pink with this price. ||I am a single grandmother traveling alone and have always felt safe here. I have found it to be very quiet overall with just a few nights of noisy people that weren't noisy enough to even complain about. There has been only one time when I thought I heard a horse galloping in the room upstairs but other than that no sounds of "extracurricular activities" to disturb my sleep. ||I used the air conditioning non-stop in the hot weather, the fan much of the time if the weather was comfortable because I like the white noise, and the heater when it started to drop below 60 degrees. All three worked great even though it looks like an older unit. ||The housekeeping came by every day and when she found out that I don't always get up early she made sure to come later in the morning to see if I needed any cleaning done or linens. Anything I asked for I received. I even asked for a couple of old washcloths to use as rags so I wouldn't damage their nice white ones and immediately was given them. I also asked for extra hangers at one point and told her they could be just metal or plastic leftovers that somebody else left behind and she brought me extras two or three times until I had enough. Plus the gal that came by every day was super friendly and cheerful. ||Everyone I encountered at the front desk was also consistently pleasant. It's a very nice family and this is their only location. They monitor it constantly which is why I think they get clients that aren't noisy or destructive. ||It's an inexpensive motel so I don't expect plush linens and theirs are just fine, not thin like some people commented. The first pillow I had was on the thinner side but all I had to do was ask the housekeeper and she exchanged it for a thicker pillow which was perfect. ||The washer and dryer prices were comparable with local laundromats and did a good job of washing my clothes. The machines look like brand new and the laundry room was very clean and brightly lit. I felt perfectly comfortable leaving my clothes until they were done and coming back for them later. ||I never felt that my car was unsafe and even a few times when I forgot to lock it there was never a problem. I never had to park far from my room even though it was a room that didn't have a spot right in front. I should mention they also have video cameras to monitor the premises for extra safety.||The bathroom is older but everything worked well. In fact, the water pressure at this motel was far superior to that of most of the Motel 6's I have stayed in. Both the sink and shower water heated up quickly versus some motels I've stayed at where it takes a long time to get hot water out of the tap. And you could get some force of water coming out of the tap not just a trickle. I don't mind water-saving but it's frustrating when you can't get enough force of water to rinse a washcloth out or rinse the shampoo and conditioner out of your hair. This place did great. The tub is a little small and narrow but again, I don't expect deluxe fixtures in inexpensive motel.||The mattress was extremely comfortable and I never had any hip, knee or back problems from sleeping on it, a common malady for older people.||Oh, and they have coffee every morning until at least 9 or until the pot runs dry. I love my morning coffee! And theirs...
Read moreStaying here and my experience here at this hotel honestly felt like a hate crime I'm NOT even kidding, It feels like The Management thrive and live off of the misery of vonrable populations who are struggling they are heartless ice cold the hotel is called "Relax Inn" But staying there was the complete opposite of that threatening to call the slave patrol on people of color, So Relaxing am I right? Sound's about WHITE, Total Psychopath's, The management is a bunch of shady power hungry opportunist vultures who are waiting and ready to feed on the carcasses of people I think they get a kick out of and joy out of it it's honestly scary... The door to the hotel room let's in people's disgusting smelling cigarette smoke in I shouldn't be forced to smell that vile stuff when the door is closed, Loud music being played at all hour's of the night, People doing sketchy stuff in the middle of the night DIDN'T see the hotel management call the police on them they just pick and choose who they want to prey on, Bug's in the lighting in the Vanity wash up area, The ONLY good thing was the friendly Housekeeper's, I will probably be Gaslighted by the person who respond's to these google reviews since that's what these companies do best, Gaslighting!
EDIT / UPDATE: Why does it matter if I posted about racism experiences I've experienced at other businesses that I've experienced on my google reviews? Gaslighting much? Yes, If I experience racism at a business your darn right I'm going to call it out in a review and the actions of this hotel threating to call the slave patrol knowing the racist rooted history of it just proves my point the name "Relax Inn" Is a joke while causing people...
Read moreThis is by far the worst hotel I have ever stay in and I have stayed in many. (I find hard to believe that there are good reviews for this ugly place) First, I get this funny old guy with moles in his face at the reception with zero customer service attitude. I give him my ID and he asks for it while he has it in his hand. He gives me the key to the room and explains where it is in the map. I get to the room the key does not work (it is cold out side), I go back and I tell him the key does not work and he asks me: What did you get? a red? My face is: ?????. What am I supposed to get?? A blue, a yellow, a purple??? OF COURSE I GOT A RED!!! the door does not work, then he tells me the story that it may be the battery and that sometimes the doors do not work (in summary, he tells me all his problems), he gives me another key, I go to the room again, guess what, it does not work again, I come down, (I guess you can assume what he asked me). He gives me a different room, I get there (room 311), the heater does not work, the sheets are nasty, and when I say nasty I mean it, the main light does not work. I just washed my face rested for about 15 minutes and left. Probably the response of the owner will be that I should have reported it, but I knew that it was a completely waste of my time. the guy at the reception would do nothing, since the complete hotel is a dirty, non working place. What was he going to do, give me the clean room for nice customers? My recommendation, do not ever, ever stay there, pay 20 or 30 dollars more and find a place where you can lay down in...
