Yanagi Hibachi — Restaurant in Amarillo

Our dinner here was a mixed experience. While nothing was outright bad, the overall atmosphere and some specific issues mean we likely won't be returning.

The restaurant was quite loud, making conversation difficult. The main issue for us, however, was the habachi service. We weren't fans of the chef tossing food for guests to catch, as it felt a bit gimmicky and disruptive. Additionally he throw a fake egg at my wife’s face after it had fallen in raw egg. The chef even drenched a lady’s face with sake to the point she had to leave the table.

More concerning was the cleanliness of the grill. We noticed leftover rice from the previous party wasn't scraped off, was all over the grill and was mixed in with our meal, which was unappetizing. The quality of the food was not as well prepared as other options in town.

Ultimately, we'll probably stick with our usual spot, Kabuki, for a fun, fine...

Went on their first Friday open. It was very busy. Wife and I sat at a table. Very clean, well decorated, and very open. It was very comfortable especially with it being a packed house. Staff seemed a bit disorganized. Our waitress was a rockstar and very professional, kind, and attentive. We both ordered sushi rolls and hibachi steak and chicken. Soup and salad were great and prompt. Waited over an hour for our entrees. We never got our sushi orders. Entrees were 100% bland and not seasoned, but the meats were tender. No side sauces for the chicken and steak. By the time we left it had been almost 2 hours and our sushi rolls hadn't even been made yet so we just canceled the order. My sister was denied feeding my baby or two autistic children because they had their own food because two have textural issues and the other is a baby and barely eating certain foods. My innocent disabled children, and baby were discriminated against, and my sister as a paying customer was refused service for trying to make sure my children got to eat at the same time instead of making them suffer and watch them eat. Will never take my family here again, and for sure won’t be recommending to anyone!!
