The check in experience was great! The gentleman that checked me in was very helpful, courteous, friendly and kept my room information private when handing me my room key card. This is a big plus for anyone who stays at any hotel.
They accommodated my request to place me on the second floor closest to the elevator and the room to face the front entry parking lot. I was very pleased that this was able to happen. This is where our company chose for us to stay and may be the staying for future visits. The carpeting wasn't completely vacuumed, there were pieces of fabric or particles of blue and red pieces on the floor by the bed. There is a large coffee looking stain on the baseboard carpeting close the to nightstand on the right side of the bed as you look at it. YUCK!!!!
I didn't check the bed prior to leaving for dinner, nor did I look thoroughly in the bathroom, just a quick glance. When I returned from dinner, I was ready for bed and turned down the covers and noticed a large stain, middle section of the bed close to the pillows, YUCK!!! I covered it with a towel and the other two pillows so I wouldn't accidently roll on to it while sleeping. I didn't really even want to get into the bed, but as I stated it was really late and we had an early departure for meetings. YUCK!!!!!!! The towels looked like they were folded back up after the last person's stay to save on towels, AND the bathroom floor was sticky, there was dental floss in my waste basket, and I didn't use the waste basket until I was leaving to dispose of my makeup towelettes. Plus, I didn't bring dental floss, I use dental sticks. This was really a gross experience and doesn't make me want to stay there again. I should have reported it but time was of the essence and no time to do it late and especially early in the morning when I was leaving for meetings. This experience is one that will stay with me, and I shared it with the team I was traveling with. Rooms are decorated like a motel six. No pizazz whatsoever!!! The elevator floor was sticky. The wall murals at the elevator entrances are laughable again no pizazz even outside the rooms. Poor designers. It doesn't have to be the Ritz Carleton, but it should be memorable and somewhat cool on a budget. I'm sorry I have to leave such a poor review, but the only way to improve the items mentioned is to make all these things a priority. Hopefully this is the only review the hotel gets like this. There are several hotels in the area to stay even if they aren't as new as holiday inn express. Again, my apologies for the negative review. The best thing about the stay were the two gentlemen at the front desk at check in and when I left in the morning. Great personalities, and provide stellar...
Read moreI could not be more pleased with my two-week stay at the Holiday Inn Express in Auburn Hills. The house we had purchased in Michigan (I am from Maryland, so this was a 621 mile move for me) was filled with mold and safety hazards; I had to make sure my 12-year-old and I were safe, and since the seller didn't want to compromise, we were suddenly homeless. In tears and without a place to live, we showed up at the hotel and were greeted with kindness and understanding. We felt immediately welcomed by Eric at the front desk, and came to know Alvin, Ashley, Curtis, Keith, Michael, and all of the front desk, managerial, and housekeeping team. When we had one or two minor issues, they were resolved immediately. My family and I were treated LIKE family - and beyond anything, that is what made this stay absolutely wonderful. I would see Michelle (one of the housekeeping managers) almost every day and we'd talk for a few minutes like old friends. Alvin at the front desk gave me a sense of safety and security. Ashley at the front desk was so sweet and patient. The level of kindness (while yes, still displaying professionalism toward guests - staff was great at being kind and familiar while remaining professional, too) was so necessary for my family after all we had been through and lost. The beds were comfortable, the privacy was wonderful, and we even used the pool and laundry facilities a few times! Breakfast was enjoyed by my 12-year-old and my husband every day, and they loved it. When we finally found a new house and checked out Friday, August 30th, I was in tears (as were a few staff members as well). I'd grown close to the staff, and we all felt like great friends and family. I could not be more thankful and grateful to every single person at the Holiday Inn Express. We were comfortable, safe, treated with kindness, shown respect, and more than anything, felt like we were at home. I would recommend this hotel to anyone and everyone, whether the stay is for one night or for two weeks. I'm in my new home and still miss the "at home" feeling provided...
Read moreWe’ve booked this hotel many times in the past and have always had great experiences. This time was much different. When we arrived there were policemen interviewing hotel guests in the lobby. We approached the front desk staff who was outside smoking to ask what was going on. She seemed annoyed that we would even ask. My fiancé just let her know that he wants to know for my safety. She said “supposedly those chicks in the lobby behind me said that there was a man trying to shoot up the place. But I doubt it. I called the police to make them happy.” Walked into the lobby with her and she began to tell us her dislike of police officers while attempting to check us in. Fast forward, we have our room keys (15 minutes later) and try to open our room door. The keys would not work. Went back to the desk and she tried to reactivate them. Go back to the room and they still don’t work. Go back to the front desk and she says “uh did you try the door handle??” I explained that we did, but it wasn’t working. She the proceeds to take the keys and try herself because she doesn’t believe us. They didn’t work for her either. She let us in with her master key and went to make us new cards. She comes back with the cards and doesn’t even knock before letting herself into our room. My fiancé says to her “it’s a good thing we’re dressed...” She laughed like it was not a big deal. Thankfully that set of keys worked so we didn’t have to deal with her again. The room was not the cleanest. We had used toiletries, dirty towels, and none of the trash cans in the room had been emptied. This is very rare for us to have an experience like that in this hotel. Other than that, our...
