I’m a Platinum Bonvoy member and wanted to share our recent experience and recognize one of your team members, John, for his exceptional service.
We are in the middle of a cross-country move from Utah, and halfway through the drive, we experienced the heartbreaking loss of our beloved 12.5-year-old dog. Only a few hours later, we woke up to a flat tire. Then, while driving through the high desert in 100°F heat, our trailer tire blew out. We spent over an hour trying to fix it in the relentless wind and sun, physically and emotionally drained.
When we finally made it to Vail, we had originally planned to stay at the Sheraton. Unfortunately, there was no available parking that could accommodate our trailer, and we had no choice but to check out. At that point, the Vail police kindly referred us to your property and they could not help us find oversized parking. After nearly 10 exhausting hours, we arrived — completely spent, both mentally and physically.
That’s when we met John at the front desk.
John was a light in an incredibly dark day. Despite being the only one at the front desk, he welcomed us with genuine kindness, compassion, and professionalism. He didn’t just check us in — he took care of us. He listened, he helped, and most importantly, he made us feel seen in a moment when we truly needed it.
Watching John interact with other guests as well, it was clear this is just who he is — a steady, gracious professional who brings warmth to everyone who walks through the door. His calm demeanor, his attention to detail, and his empathy were more than impressive — they were comforting.
Marriott is incredibly lucky to have someone like John representing your brand. He embodies the very best of what hospitality means. I hope he is recognized not just for his hard work, but for the heart he...
Read moreI rarely leave reviews, but what I witnessed today was unacceptable and frankly upsetting.
My wife and I went downstairs to enjoy the view with a drink. The bartender had the window open on the poolside, so we assumed you could order from there. We stood there for a bit, clearly visible, but he completely ignored us. When my wife asked politely if he was taking orders from the window, he snapped that we needed to come inside.
So we went in. My wife waited patiently behind another guest who ordered a drink—no questions asked, no ID requested. But when it was my wife’s turn, the bartender was immediately cold. She ordered a martini and when she said she wanted it with gin—Bombay specifically—he abruptly asked for her ID.
Now here’s the issue: he didn’t ask the previous guest for ID. She looked about the same age as my wife, if not younger. The ID check wasn’t the problem—it was the tone, the inconsistency, and the way he treated my wife with clear disrespect from the start. It felt personal. It felt targeted. It felt racist.
We’re paying guests at this hotel. My wife did absolutely nothing to deserve that kind of treatment. Watching her be treated like that—talked down to, dismissed—was infuriating. She walked away feeling humiliated, and I walked away wondering how a hotel like this can allow such behavior from a front-facing staff member.
This could have easily been a five-star review. But this one bartender’s attitude ruined it. If I were management, I’d seriously reevaluate who you have...
Read moreThe Good|- Property is brand new and everything is in pristine condition.|- Everything was incredibly clean.|- Service and attention from the front desk folks was great! They've worked out a lot of the growing pains they had around their launch.||The Eh|- This isn't a ding on this specific property, but something about the design of modern Springhill properties has limited noise from other floors, but the sound isnt particularly isolated from the hallways.|- Location(): Relatively speaking, this hotel is currently in the middle of nowhere. There's a gas station that's walkable, but everything else is a drive or a local bus that runs during the day on a 30 minute interval. This may one day change as there's land that will eventually be developed to the east. ()Super convenient for overnighters, not so great for someone staying around in the area.||The Bad||- Parking Fee: This junk fee for parking is awful, especially for its location. All of the Marriott branded properties in Colorado 70 mountain corridor charge a variation of this fee now and it's the single biggest hit on their reviews for years now. Fun fact - it's actually cheaper to self-park at the Westin in the center of Avon at $15/night than this SpringHill Suites $20/night. Put it in the base rate already and stop springing it on new guests at the front desk and wrecking your...
