We went to Sauce last weekend for the first time for my birthday lunch. The reviews were good, and the menu is pricey, but we are willing to pay good money for good food. I have reached out twice since then to discuss our concerns but have not heard back (yet). Our server was wonderful and very attentive, I have no complaints about our server. The food however was not. I do feel they are overpriced for what is offered. The calamari was fairly chewy, tough to eat, and unseasoned, so that was not finished. The orange spritzer mocktail (I can't recall the name) was very artificial-tasting and left a poor aftertaste (I did not complain about it while there, I wrote it off as something new I tried & just didn't like). The pizza was decent, but not memorable. The garlic bread appetizer was greatly overpriced for the amount that you get; 4 small pieces of bread for about $13-$14. We ordered the crispy Brussel sprouts and fried ravioli to go to try a few more of their items after we left. I wish I had checked our to-go food before leaving but it was packed up for us so I didn't check it. The sprouts were so burnt creating a horrible charred flavor and they ended up being thrown away- I've tried multiple times to attach the images of our to-go food, but it will not let me upload them on my computer or phone, if there is a management email address I could forward the photos to I would be happy to do so. I didn't think they were worth $17 to begin with and unfortunately, I was right. The fried ravioli were fine but they had a bed of lettuce under them for presentation, I'm assuming, and the lettuce was slimy and browning. It was also wilted from the heat of the ravioli, making the entire dish very unappetizing. I don't see the point in using cold foods to enhance the presentation of hot foods in a to-go box, but I'm no chef. Overall, I wish we had gone elsewhere and I do not think they deserve the 4+ star review that they have. Still hoping to hear back...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreDined in for dinner while in town for a birthday ski trip. Didnāt plan for dinner reservations, but felt lucky to get one at Sauce. Generally the service and atmosphere is average. Nothing over the top or too slow. It was what I hope to have in the least when dining out. The food is what drug down the overall rating. While it is indeed fresh and house made, if I was given a choice Iād choose Olive Garden over Sauce and I stay away from chains as a whole. Reason one, an Italian place with no bread?! No bread, oil, or balsamic. Second, the protein surcharge is wild. To add chicken was $14 to an already $28 dish. And the amount was very disappointing. My table ordered a kale salad and added chicken. It was almost full kale, a few bits of carrot and small cubes or chicken that had to be hunted up like treasure. The penne alla vodka (a fave dish of mine) was fairly bland and had to be helped with the table Parmesan. We also ordered calamari which was advertised as being with spiced cheeses but Iām not sure where the cheese was unless hidden in the marinara. It would definitely benefit from some lemon wedges. We ordered a wine flight which was a nice option to have when the wine menu is so varied. Lastly, since it was a birthday dinner, we were comped a tiramisu dessert which was actually the best thing we ate there. In summation⦠I know this is a ski town but the food received did not deserve the price put to it. Maybe we ordered the worst things on the menu? Thereās lots of opportunity here though. Put some bread on the table. Use more balsamic on the menu. Force more flavor into the sauces. Itās the little details that will go a long way here. The staff is friendly, the location and ambiance is good. Go...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIt was around 1pm and looking around at the available eateries in the area we decided to give this place a try. Upon entering there was no one to greet us, as we waited by the front door an older man in jeans and a blue shirt came up to us and told us to wait while he hurriedly tried to clean off a table for us to sit at. After we received the menus the waitress took our order and that was the last we saw of her for a good 20-25 mins. As we were waiting I noticed other tables being served a small bread basket to new customers just being seated before they were given a menu, I asked the man in the blue jeans if we could have some bread and he rather rudely snapped back at me "if thats what you want". Another 10 mins go by and still no food, no drinks, and no bread. Our original waitress finally shows up with my drink, which was wrong, but she catches her error before I say anything and brings out the correct drink. Another few mins tick by and we get the small bread basket. After we eat the bread our food finally arrives, my Chicken Parm sandwich was tangy and zesty and the soup was thick and chunky but my mom said her food was tough and not very good. After we finish eating, the waitress came by and apologized for the delay and said that they are short staffed. But the rude blue jean man just gives us the stink eye everytime he passed our table. The quality of the food and the fact the waitress acknowledged the delay and apologized saved this from being a 1...
