My recent experience at Piedmont Apartments was exceedingly disappointing. Upon arrival for a viewing, Chrissy, the leasing agent, showed us an apartment that was more convenient for her to access rather than the 1 bed 1 bath unit we were interested in. Despite Chrissy’s evident annoyance and lack of professionalism, we decided to proceed with an application due to our interest in the property.
The following morning, I informed Chrissy that we had submitted our application and disclosed a credit blemish from 2019. Chrissy assured us that she could override this issue due to our qualifying income. Her enthusiasm reassured us, and we were hopeful about our prospects.
However, Chrissy later called to inform us that our application was denied. When I reminded her of her previous assurance regarding the credit issue, she contradicted herself, stating she had no authority to override it. Despite her earlier promises, she quickly dismissed any possibility of assistance, displaying a drastic shift from her initial demeanor to one of outright disrespect.
When I inquired about the return of our $1000 deposit, Chrissy stated it would be mailed. I explained that I lacked a current address as we were relocating from out of state, and she unhelpfully suggested holding the deposit until we had one. This response was particularly frustrating given the ease with which they processed the payment.
After consulting with my bank, I learned that the charge was still processing and could be reversed by the merchant. When I relayed this information to Chrissy, her attitude became hostile, contradicting my bank’s advice and stating that they had up to 30 days to return the money. This interaction left me feeling that Chrissy might intentionally delay the refund due to her evident dislike for us.
I strongly advise against renting at Piedmont Apartments if you expect to be treated with respect and...
Read moreWARNING - CONSTRUCTION and NOT DOG-FRIENDLY.
I just want to warn people considering moving here from out of town, as I was not warned. There is construction on the north and south sides of the building (more apartments and a daycare being built). If you have an anxious animal, this might not be the place for you.
Further, most places here don't take dogs, so you'll be hard pressed to find a new place if you want to move.
Super unsanitary conditions. Maintenance will not clean anything, even poop in the hallways, in a timely manner. There's sludge still in the stairwell for months now. There's been urine by the central elevator for a week and feces or puke by the other elevator on my floor, so all exits are fouled. On the ground floor of the central elevator, there's a floor mat that has had feces stuck in it for months, also. If you post anything meaningful to the Facebook group, it gets ignored. I even posted a service request now, but we'll see if they get to it or not (my bet is not).
There's no AC, though you will need it.
There is no dog park. The one dog park in town that is fenced has a gate that your dog could escape from. The nearest one that functions is an hour away!
Also, ask about your floors. All of my vinyl boards have been curling up since day 1, and they often stab me in the toe. I heard they've been fixing this in some units, though, so just confirm prior to move-in.
Otherwise, it's beautiful scenery, and the acoustics between units aren't terrible, like most apartments. They're not great, and you'll get to hear all sorts of fun rowdy neighbors and smells with your windows open. The guy above me sounds like an elephant, which further terrifies my poor dog, but at least I can't hear my neighbors having a normal conversation like I could at...
Read moreAs a local influencer with a large social media following, I like to expose the bad practices of slumlords in these rocky ski resorts. These landlords use deceptive tactics to lure families with low introductory rates when the apartments were new, only to raise the rents significantly later on without warning.
Many people may not read the agreement carefully, but this is still a predatory and inhumane way of doing business. The landlords should be transparent about their fees and rent increases, instead of hiding them in the fine print. They also have poor support and unreliable emergency lines. I tested their emergency lines myself and found that they would either put me on hold or disconnect me with multiple spoofed numbers I use. This is unacceptable for paying $2.2k/month on average.
This kind of exploitation affects not only the tenants, but also the workers and the quality of service in the area. The older residents may wonder why there is less care and professionalism in various industries, such as hospitality, food and beverage, and construction, but it is because of slumlords like this. And if they treat American civilians this way, I can only imagine how they treat the J-1 visa workers who come to work at the ski resorts during the busy winter seasons. These workers are essential for the ski industry, which relies heavily on these visas to fill seasonal jobs.
Edit: updated for readibility and wanted to add the fact the business doesn't even respond to anyone's reviews lets you know they're literally just about the money and everything else...
