Room was perfect size for 4 adults and 1 infant. View was alright but no fault to the property as the trees have grown.
The reason I gave them 2 stars was merely the customer service. I booked through a 3rd party site and listed 4 adults and an infant. When checking in I also disclosed 4 adults and an infant, I checked in and was given a room key and while bringing in our stuff an young women came over. Instead of pulling me aside she announced " just proving to you that you only booked for 2 adults" I apologized again as I did when I checked in with the older gentleman. I said" I indicated 4 adults and an infant and she responded with "prove it" I asked her what I needed to do to fix it and she said it's an extra $10pp I said OK.
She made it sound like our family was trying to screw them out of $20. I'm not sure if they enjoy running their business. Because their are a few bad apples out there doesn't mean you should be disrespectful to your other guest. Just my thought.
Check out wasn't pleasant either. The paper in the room says to go to the front desk to check out which I did. There was no one at the desk so I rang the bell. A man came over the intercom and asked me what I needed. I said I was there to check out and he responded "in a rude manner" OK what else do you need and I said nothing sir, he said well, just leave the key then. No thank you for your business, I hope you enjoyed your stay, nothing.
They certainly do not appreciate their customers and I get it people run threw these businesses with attitude but if you can't shrug off the people who are rude then your in the wrong business.
My family was very pleasant and respectful even though we received disrespect and we even tidied up the room when we left.
I wish I could give a better review but I cannot. I did not write this to detour people from their business I wrote it as an eye opener for the owners.
With alittle property maintenance and friendlier staff you would have a great establishment. I...
Read moreOur reservations got messed up due to booking with a 3rd party company. We booked 2 queen beds but were given a king bed room. I immediately informed the front desk who got the manager Daniel involved. He offered to place our family of 4 in 2 separate rooms. Although this was not what I had planned and hoped for, I was happy we were able to solve the problem. Daniel appeared extremely sorry for the mix up and wanted to do whatever he could to make things better. Even though it was not what we had planned, we greatly appreciated his wonderful customer service.
Now about everything else. The staff is super friendly. The hotel is in a great and beautiful location--only a few mins from downtown Bar Harbor. This hotel appears to be older and recently renovated. One of the rooms we had was super spacious (king) while the other one was on the smaller size (queen). One area that I think needs improvement is the bathrooms. They are very small and just outdated. Being a female, a bathroom is a big deal to me. The king bathroom didn't even have a fan, only a small crank out window to open. There was also very little space to place any toiletry items. I think updating the bathrooms should be considered in the near future if at all possible.
I would like to note that the rooms were extremely clean! I didn't find anything that I felt was dirty!
I do think the continental breakfast needs improvement. I will admit that I'm very picky when it comes to eating in public spaces. I think that the food area should be separate from the dish washing area. I also think that there should be more selections when it comes to food options.
As for the pool, it was amazing. Love that it was heated and open until 9pm! Also loved the lighting outside and around the pool! My kids had a blast!
Overall, I think this place is wonderful. The price was also amazing. It felt so good to see someone who actually cares about their place the way...
Read moreWe stayed for 2 nights and all in all, this was a fine hotel. Nothing really out of place or dirty, rooms were clean but small (wicked small, but it got the job done🤷🏻♀️), beds were comfy. We didn’t have high expectations so it was fairly nice compared to what we were imagining.
The bathroom is pretty tiny. The sink isn’t much and neither is the shower, I did give the shower and extra wipe down with a Clorox wipe just to be sure but it was pretty clean. It came with shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and a few amenities like makeup wipes and lotion. It came with a good amount of towels and they were pretty good quality. The second night we had our room cleaned (which was very good) but they forgot the towels, no biggie, we asked for towels and it seemed like a hassle to the front desk associate. Like she didn’t believe us, wasn’t a great experience but that’s fine.
If you saw the hotel’s free shuttle to bar harbor and made it the main reason you booked it like I did, don’t they don’t have one anymore🫠 we asked an associate and they said “The one on the website? We don’t have it anymore.” I was pretty bummed since it was selling point for us. It was also taken off the website that night…:(
The pool looked really nice and clean but it was a bit rainy and chilly so we didn’t take advantage of it. Some other folks did and they looked like they had a great time. Sitting outside was the best! The view (when it wasn’t foggy) was spectacular!
It’s really close to Acadia National Park and about 10 minutes to bar harbor. It had some basic breakfast treats like hot coffee, cereal, muffins, and some other things. Nothing too crazy. And it was pretty safe! Lots of other families were there and we never felt like we had to be on our toes.
TLDR; it’s a fine and safe place to stay just don’t expect anything...
