We stayed in room 12 on our visit to Mount Desert Island. The office staff was very friendly and accommodating. We called ahead when we realized we would be arriving much later than planned and they thoughtful made plans for us to access our room even though the office closed at 9pm. The rooms are a little warn and definitely not "on trend" but they are very clean, well maintained and secure/safe. We could see that the owners are makeing small updates over time as the bathroom vanity appeared to be brand new. We only had two complaints. One is that the A/C unit cooled wonderfully but it didn't dehumidify worth a darn so bath towels and sweaty clothes did not dry and dry clothes felt damp. The second would be a need for an exhaust fan in the bathroom, the wall paper above the shower stall was starting to peel and mold from the accumulated moisture. Opening the window helps somewhat but our room than filled with bbq smoke from the restaurant next door (which was not nearly as pleasant as you think it would be). Overall this is a great little hotel that we would gladly stay at again. PS. This hotel is in a great location. The campground next door is a stop (infront of the arcade) on the free trolley system that takes you all over the island. The bbq restaurant on the other side of the hotel serves great breakfasts with out a wait. Next to the restaurant is a homemade icecream shop (!!!!) and across the street is an elaborate putt...
Read moreWe got to the lobby and waited 30 minutes and rang the bell at the desk 3 times with nobody near or around to answer. We found an envelope with our name and let ourselves in since it was after check in and fully paid. We got into the room and there were multiple flies and a slider in the bed. The lady in the front started getting annoyed and mad at us when we asked for the wifi yelling it was in a picture frame, yet we still could not find it even after being told that. There are no lights at the street and dark property so it is very easy to pass. We were excited to use the pool except to see it was not open and had the fence inside it. Seems this place is not worth the money in the slightest bit. Also to mention the battery pack to one of the rooms was open with no batteries in it. Definitely go somewhere else if you're looking yo stay here...
