Bathroom needs a makeover, especially around the tub area due to stains and mold surrounding the tub. Water pressure needs work too. Hairdryer did not work. Called down for a new one and that one didn’t work so called down for a second new one and never received it.
HVAC system needs an upgrade, and the vents need to be cleaned. Vent was completely black and filthy and I can’t imagine when the last filter was even changed. Due to poor HVAC, the room was humid, and smelled very musty as did our clothes, and the bedding felt damp daily. My friend was down the hall, asked for a dehumidifier and emptied it three times each day. Every piece of our clothing and the towels in the bathroom smelled disgusting. When we came home, we washed every piece of clothing even if we didn’t wear it because of the smell. I know Puerto Rico is very humid, but I’ve been to other humid places and never had this problem. We literally could not wait for our trip to end so we could get out of the hotel. If I had a choice I would have switched hotels but because I was there for a tournament we had no choice but to stay there.
The lobby was very nice, however, I was disgusted to see breakfast items put out at 1:00 AM such as fruit and yogurt. Granted they were placed on ice, but the fact that they were sitting their hours before breakfast is not very appetizing.
Now let’s get to the parking. The hotel website says parking is $10 per day but the ticket outside at the gate states $15 per day. I spoke to one of the hotel workers in the lobby and asked why we’re being charged $15 and she stated that they have been hearing about this from others and it’s just that the website was not updated. I said that is not my problem and she replied with “the garage is not owned by the hotel.” Again, I said that is not my problem, your hotel website states $10 per day and that’s what should be honored. She did not seem interested and so I walked away and will be fighting the charges.
Hotel offers restaurant items to be cooked and some of it is very good, however, when asked to prepare items, we were given an attitude.
We will not be staying in this hotel again. There were 15 families with us that stayed in this hotel for all our daughters tournament and we all...
Read moreI recently had the worst experience at Hyatt Place Bayamón, and it completely ruined the start of my vacation. I stayed in Room 711, where the issues were unbearable:
AC Loudness: The noise from the AC was extreme—easily 50-60 decibels, far louder than the 35-decibel limit my sleep earplugs could handle. Temperature Control: Despite the noise, the AC wasn’t cooling the room adequately. Cracking Sounds: In the morning, there was a constant cracking sound that made it impossible to fall back asleep.
After a sleepless night, I approached the front desk in the morning, requesting a room change. The first staff member said they would notify me when another room was available, but nothing happened. Later, I spoke with another staff member, who said the manager needed to approve the request. The manager’s response? “All rooms have the same AC system.”
Assuming this meant every room would be just as noisy, my spouse and I endured yet another sleepless night. Frustrated, exhausted, and with a full vacation day ahead, we decided to cancel our remaining two nights and booked Hyatt House San Juan instead.
Here’s where things get shocking: When I checked into Room 306 at Hyatt House San Juan, I discovered they had the exact same AC system—even down to the remote control. However, it was perfectly quiet and functioning as expected. This proved that the problem wasn’t the system itself but Room 711 at Hyatt Place Bayamón.
Had the manager simply allowed us to switch rooms, our experience could have been completely different. Instead, their dismissive response, “All rooms AC are the same,” ignored my concerns and left us frustrated and exhausted. As a loyal Hyatt member for over six years, I’ve always loved the brand, but this experience was a huge disappointment.
I urge Hyatt Place Bayamón to take customer feedback seriously and train their management to handle such situations better. Ignoring guests and refusing reasonable requests for solutions is unacceptable. This was an avoidable disaster that turned what should have been a relaxing vacation into...
Read moreFor the price, we were expecting a great deal more. The staff were professional and helpful, but the facilities and amenities left a lot to be desired. The pool area was sparse, with a fence and shrubbery but otherwise little separation from the nearby highway and noise. The fitness center had a decent rack of free weights and a bench, but only two of the four cardio machines were functional. Our room was set to 65°F, so (as others have commented) it was like walking into a refrigerator. You can control the thermostat in the room, but it took a few hours to warm up and housekeeping reset it to 65° again during their daily clean. The hot water was lukewarm, at best. The room had a strong smell that seemed to be a mix of cleaner over mildew (?). There was a wet spot on our carpet, so maybe that was where the smell started?
In terms of location, this was not a great spot for a family looking to explore the area and enjoy the outdoors. We found ourselves scrambling to try to find ways to stay away from the hotel as much as possible. Its proximity to a highway meant a great deal of highway noise when we were outside of the building. It didn’t feel walkable to local restaurants or stores and the science park nearby has been closed for over a year, so we had to rely on Uber drivers more than we would have liked. The nearby art gallery is definitely worth a 30-minute visit though.
The breakfast spread was decent, with freshly made warm options like scrambled eggs, waffles and French toast, fried potatoes, and ham and sausage. Good “cold” options as well…cereal, bread and bagels, donut holes, fresh cut fruit, juices, hard boiled eggs, plain yogurt. The oatmeal was very good…they drop a few cinnamon sticks into the pot for flavor, which was just lovely. The coffee pot was always low, so fill up when you can.
I could see how this could be a good place for a business traveler who wants to avoid the touristy parts of downtown San Juan and has little use for amenities like the pool, but it just didn’t quite meet the needs and expectations...
