Furnace creek campground is the most popular campground in death valley. It is the only campground that allows online reservations and I would encourage everyone planning to stay here make reservations on recreation.gov website and book ahead of time because they get filled up very fast.

The campground is very clean, has a fire pit, a picnic table and got flush toilets. Campsites are big and has a dump station.

There are NO showers. You have to go to Furnace creek at 'The Oasis' to take showers. Usually you would need a pass to get in but if the gate is open(coz its right by the swimming pool), there is a chance you would not need a pass and you can just go take shower. The oasis is 10 min walk from the campground, if you take the shortcut. If you are walking down the road, then it would be 20-25 mins. And water gets warm(not very hot but you can still shower easily) if you go take shower in the evenings.

One thing I think I didn't like was some people did not flush after the morning run to the restrooms, which is why the restrooms were smelling also and it was making hard to even stand there, forget about brushing your teeth. I wish everyone visiting was responsible and would do their best to keep the restrooms clean.

Secondly, there were some people who were talking so loudly after 10pm. It was very noisy and I wish everyone visiting was responsible and would not cause trouble for anyone else.

Thirdly, I wish everyone leaving the campsite would generally clean the site before leaving for the next visitor. Our campsite had dog poop from the previous visitors.

The management and the host try to provide the best of their service and it would be so easier for everyone if we all were also responsible and help them and the others visiting the beautiful...

We felt very lucky to secure 2 nights in the campground just a couple weeks before, someone must have canceled. After doing it, you really need 2 nights to give yourself a full day to see the top spots in the park. We saw the sunset on our first night at Zabriskie Point just as we arrived. The next day, we went straight to Badwater Basin, saw the Ranger talk at 10:00, drove back through Artists Palette then around to Dantes Peak (which I almost thought it was too far and didt go but SO glad we did. We then drove the long drive to Ubehebe Crater and stopped at Mesquite Flats Sand dunes on the way back. Hope that helps someone plan if they have only 1 day in the park. The campground although "full" wasn't full. The first night we were able to enjoy the dark skies from our campsite, but the 2nd night we had a group next to us pull in, set up all kinds of strings of lights and spot light, campfire, it was a bummer. Just so you are prepared that you can't count on viewing the night sky from your campsite. But we still loved our stay! I attached a photo of Mushroom Rock/Devil's Throne, which was a lucky find near Artists Palette, a rock that was a tourist attraction, but so vandalized that they removed...

Death Valley is an awesome place to visit! We visited in December and the weather was perfect. It was in the mid sixties (Fahrenheit) during the day, and low forties at night. The campground was clean and well equipped with bathrooms, drinking water, and large outdoor sinks for washing cookware. However, note that there are NO SHOWERS or bathing facilities at the campground. We asked at the visitor's center, and they said that we could buy pool passes at the Ranch at Death Valley (right next door) for $10 per person per day, and this would allow us to use their shower facilities. So we did that once during our stay! (The showers weren't great for $10; it was still in a concrete building with minimal amenities, but a shower is a shower!)

The campground is right nearby a gas station, a nice convenience store and gift store (at the Ranch), and other attractions, so it was very much "glamping." We saw many more RVs than tents. If you're looking for more solitude, there are other "first come first served" camping areas in the area, which were all nearly empty during December.

I absolutely loved the quiet, beauty, and peace of Death Valley! I would definitely...

Small campground part of the big Furnace Creek Hotel all run by Xanterra. They have no hookups. The resort has public wifi but not at the campground. Plus is that its surrounded by trees so somewhat protected. Also as a guest you have access to the pool. There are several restaurants on site which was nice but you dont have to be a guest at the resort to go in. Campsites themselves, however, have no privacy. You are right next to each other same as the NPS campsites next door. The restrooms (men and women share it) are a short walk from the campsite though they were quite stinky. At reception they told us to use the restroom at the adjacent bar but a sign went up while we were there that campers were not welcome. An odd option the reception desk also told us was to walk to the NPS bathroom next door. Also there are no showers near the campsites. You have to walk to the pool (10 min). My recommendation, unless you are really wanting to use the pool or other guest amenities, I would opt for the NPS campground next door. Way nicer and there are hookups for rvs.
