I stayed in a cottage in the Ranch at Death Valley. Very expensive. My room was very nice. The Ranch at Death Valley has a nice swimming pool, a nice large open area around the pool, and a nice courtyard area in the central part of the hotel complex (near the hotel front desk building and the shops and restaurants ). The food was okay. I give two stars because the room cleaning staff showed up before my room check out time. While I was loading my car, the hotel cleaning staff was already in my room gathering up my things that I was going to take to my car on my last trip to my car. Fortunately, I got back to my room in time. I had more than ample time to check out of my room, before the cleaning staff showed up in my room. I explained the situation, and the cleaning staff laughed it off and disregarded my concerns. The cleaning staff left the room, so I could finish packing up my things. I still left my room before my check out time and politely explained the situation to the hotel front desk clerk, so that this did not happen to other guests, and the front desk clerk did not seem too concerned about...
Read moreStayed at the Ranch. The Ranch is a sister property of The Inn at Death Valley. Although you make the reservation from the same site, the 2 properties are very different. The room at the Ranch is 3star. It's old and dated. There's no sound proofing. We were told that we can have 2 devices connected to wifi but only 1 can be connected at the time. The price is way over priced for the quality of the room but you can't beat the location. It's nice to be able to stay in the park. There are a couple of dining options and a general store so it's very convenient. The ground is well maintained. The pool looked nice but we didn't use it. We had dinner at the Saloon. It is also over priced for the quality of food but again, it's in the park and there aren't many options. The food is average. We enjoyed the potato skins and the penne was good. The chicken quesadilla was ok. The chicken inside the quesadilla was a little dry and bland. The mac and cheese was not good. We took a couple of bites and nobody...
Read moreI'll start by saying that I don't usually write reviews online and felt compelled to write about our experience at this hotel.
The good: The hotel's location makes it straight forward to go to all the main attractions inside Death Valley.
The bad: The rooms are very old and rundown, the building we stayed at felt as if its floor was actually a trampoline and to top things off the hotel itself is extremely hard to find specially at night.
The ugly: The price! I will say it's a borderline rip-off. Their prices are outrageous for the rooms, the food and their convenience store. I understand that having limited options and high demand means they can get away with a lot but I feel like they take this to the extreme.
A word of caution: the oasis inn and the ranch are two different properties, even though they are hard to differentiate in online review sites. The Inn is super swanky and even more expensive.
In conclusion I would recommend going for a different option like camping or RVing when to...
