A great place to cool off, enjoy some cold drinks and even get a tasty bite in a place like Death Valley where all of the above can be somewhat hard to come by. I should note, there are a couple of other establishments in the Furnace Creek Ranch that also serve food and beverages such as the Last Kind Word Saloon, which is nice, I kind of enjoy this place more being that it's tucked away and at least during our recent visit, not as crowded. As always, my wife and I and friends of ours, all saddled up to the bar and enjoyed some whiskey but also got some of their chips and cheese dip which was very tasty. Service was good and friendly as well. It might be worth noting that when we got here, it was about 4 PM and we were about the only people inside but we did hang out for a while and before we left, around 6 PM, it was considerably more crowded. There are games to play like darts and shuffle board and there is seating outside as well and it's a perfect place to watch the sun go down. Plenty of parking can be found out front.

As others have shared there are limited dining choices inside Death Valley National Park. The Oasis in Death Valley is literally an Oasis in the valley where there is the only lodging in the National Park as well as any dining (and a gas station). The other dining options were far too crowded (with longer wait times) so we make our way over to the Wild Rose Tavern. There are many large TVs with sports playing (not our cup of tea) so we opted to sit on the outside covered deck with views of the mountains in the distance. We enjoyed a Caesar Salad and an oder of Chips, Queso and Salsa. Prices were reasonable considering the location - the salad was a nice sized portion and tasty. The chips were accompanied by fire roasted salsa and poblano Chile queso dip which I really enjoyed. Service was friendly and attentive - we were there in the mid-afternoon and I believe it can get crowded closer to traditional meal times. We would return here on a return visit to Death Valley.

Honestly, this place was pretty underwhelming. With limited dining options in Death Valley, it’s a decent choice by default—but that doesn’t mean it’s a great one. We didn’t even think to take pictures because the food just wasn’t memorable. My boyfriend ordered the sliders, and I had the burger, and both were just… okay. The presentation was nothing special, and the flavors were pretty lackluster. On the bright side, our server was fantastic—funny, attentive, and genuinely made our experience better. We also got a table by the window, which offered lovely views of the palm trees and golf course, giving the place a bit of a Palm Springs vibe. If you’re dining at the Ranch Plaza, I’d recommend skipping this spot and heading to the ice cream parlor instead.

Sat at the bar and ordered a $20 "bacon cheeseburger" with potato salad and a $11 draft beer. When the food arrived, the potato salad was freezing cold and the bun on the burger was cold. I asked the bartender to have the potato salad and bun warmed up.

The burger itself was obviously pre-cooked. The "cheese" looked like it was spray painted on to the burger, and was not actual cheese, maybe a canned cheese spread. The "bacon" was also obviously pre-cooked and served at room temperature.

When I told the bartender that the burger wasn't edible, he took it off my bill. I tipped him $10.

I have stayed in Death Valley many times, and I know the food places can charge extremely high prices and they don't expect repeat business, but this meal was a new low.

Bartender was a real pro, or I would have made it a one-star review.

Not that anyone running the Death Valley food concessions cares about one-star reviews. You'll notice that nobody from Furnace Creek Management ever responds to any of these reviews, good or bad, like many other companies do. The Furnace Creek concession owners have a monopoly, they don't have to care what the customers think.

Also, it looks like they've paid some people to post very brief, five star reviews...

A very bad experience. We were a group of 5. We could see two servers once we entered the restaurant. They completely ignored us and we kept waiting for about 10 mins till I went to the guy at the bar and asked if there is anyone to help us. The other server passed our group a couple of times, he didn't even pass a smile or maintain eye contact. We didn't disturb him initially because he was serving another party and we thought he would help us once he gets free. We were kind of forced to stay at the restaurant even with this behavior only because restaurants were closing down for lunch and by the time we would reach another place, it would have been really late. The food was okay, not the most amazing. We had cheese flathead, jalapeño poppers and a couple of other items. I would have rated it better for the views and the ambience had I not had this terrible experience. The same servers were great to a white family who came in about 15 mins after us (and were...
