The day before our stay, I had received texts requesting to preregister, so I did- I filled out the information, uploaded a photo of my ID and placed my card on file for incidentals. This was supposed to "speed up check in" and they placed a hold on my card for the rooms.
After getting our bags, I called to see about getting the shuttle. The lady on the phone was nice. I thought I followed the directions she gave, however it was loud and I missed that I needed to go down a level. So I called back to confirm, the phone was answered by a male athis time. I asked what floor we would need picked up from, he said "well you already called" I attempted to explain I realized that and that I was just asking for directions. He told me the floor but then said again, but you already called. I said thank you for the information.
The employee that assisted at the front desk was very rude upon our arrival. I had a reservation for three rooms; 2 king, 1 double queen. He had 3 kings for us, I advised him of the original request and he made it seem like it was a big favor that he switched one off the rooms to a double queen. Then, he proceeded to argue with me about authorization fees.
The employee requested and took my ID, then asked for a card to put the deposit on. I attempted to say I already did that and he said "No you have to do it here" as I was looking for the confirmation that I was given from my previous authorization, I attempted to explain and he continued to talk over me, saying that corporate sends that because they try to help, when you have to do it here. I asked, "How am I supposed to know that?" The employee said, "well I have three rooms now, do you want them or not?" Really?! I said "Of course I do but I also want to know about the charges. I don't understand why corporate would send a text for registration if it wasn't registering." He continued with, "well why would you do everything on a text?" At this point it had become a pissing match and I didn't want to play along. Now there are six holds in my account, not three. We got our keys for the rooms on the third floor. Luckily, we are self sufficient as there was no guidance or direction provided to get to the elevators or anything else for that matter. After the long afternoon of traveling, our group was hungry. We went down to the restaurant in the lobby where the struggle was real. I was a server in the past, so I do give grace, but we are still paying for a service.
-We ordered a glass of white wine, got red. -Draft beer: five different ones offered, one actually available. -Salad came out with no dressing, yes it was ordered. -Mozzarella sticks came out with no marinara requested it and was given cocktail sauce. -Another glass of wine ordered, wrong kind. -Requested the bill- was told we could not get a completed sale copy, "because it just doesn't do that" This is a best one: the menu price was $23 for one of the plates, however charged $27--- no extras, no substitutions.
The rooms were overall nice, and clean. Small inconveniences; toilet paper holder falling off wall, bed is hard and uncomfortable.
Needless to say, I am rather disappointed and frustrated with our experience here.
Came back to add, because of these overages I currently have over $200 in...
Read moreI am bouncing back and forth over a 3 or 4 star review. While this motel is very nice and very clean, very new looking, large rooms, spectacular sized bathrooms and we had a great time at the pool, overall we decided we were disappointed and would not be back. We decided that the $80-$125 motels we found that were updated and clean had a bunch more amenities plus in room coffee because who wakes at 4 am and wants to get dressed just to go find coffee...no microwave.
We spent some time just wandering Florida and chose this motel due to airport proximity for our final day as well as having a restaurant/bar.
What this motel lacked was amenities and it didn't lack high prices. A glass of table wine or a cocktail was $15 per...didn't even bother to ask about beer. Breakfast was $10. We chose not to partake. I swore I read there was two types of breakfast, a free continental and the $10. Never saw it. The restaurant was nothing more than 6 items I think it was, on the menu and it was just bar food at double the cost of a mid priced bar.
So we bought our own food and booze from places in town. Now the ice...that became a running joke, although it was good natured but as we were on the 1st floor, we had to go to the 3rd floor, opposite end of bldg to get ice.
The end door wouldn't work with our card and it was just shrugged off. We requested an airport shuttle for the morning of leaving. Good thing we weren't leaving the next morn as they never put in the request as we found out the next day when we went to confirm.
The day of the shuttle...well it was supposed to leave at 4 am and left 10 mims early and left someone behind.
One of the employees left their empty pack of smokes and a cigarette butt outside on the ground behind the bushes...why he couldn't throw them away was beyond me. We found two gas cans behind the tree at the pool...thought that was odd. The pool person was adamant that the clean soccer ball could not float around in the pool and so we claimed it as ours hoping to hand it off to kids to play with...otherwise he was going to take it.
In the end, we will remain at the best westerns, the other Wyndham properties that we've stayed at, the hidden gems we have found in mom n pops. To me, this motel with its visual splendor was not worth the $300 plus we paid.
Ps...all the people were generally nice however and helpful...
Read moreThankful for the Front desk but not the shuttle driver
I recently booked this hotel for my wife because they advertised a 4 AM airport shuttle, which was critical for her early flight. Unfortunately, the experience turned out to be incredibly stressful and unacceptable.
Despite reserving a spot on the shuttle the day before, when she arrived at the scheduled time, the driver, Hercules, refused to let her board—even though her reservation was clearly on the list, her room number was noted, and there were two empty seats available. His refusal was completely unjustified and discriminatory.
Left with no other option, my wife was forced to arrange for a private car service, which caused unnecessary stress and placed her in a potentially unsafe situation. Fortunately, the front desk worker intervened after my wife explained what happened. They called Hercules back, made him return to pick her up, and even offered to help cover the cancellation fee for the car service.
When Hercules finally returned, the other passengers were upset and voiced their frustration about having to come back, which created an even more stressful and uncomfortable ride for my wife. All of this unnecessary chaos was caused by Hercules trying to assert authority at her expense, despite her legitimate reservation and the availability of seats.
The sole reason we chose this hotel was for the convenience of the airport shuttle, but the driver’s discriminatory and unprofessional behavior completely undermined that. While I appreciate the front desk employee’s efforts to resolve the situation, this ordeal should never have happened.
I cannot recommend this hotel unless they address the behavior of their shuttle driver and ensure no guest has to endure...
