Our family absolutely LOVED this place! We rolled in late afternoon and the front desk concierge, Jason, was so great! He was kind, informative, and so very friendly! Upon walking in, the lobby was modern, spotless, and inviting - which was especially appreciated after a long drive in and considering the last hotel we stayed at was less than desirable.
We were traveling with our very young toddler and Jason would do things like give a pack of Otis Spunkmeyer cookies to us for him and turn the juice dispenser on after seeing us checking out the breakfast bar and talking about the different juices they had. He was extremely considerate of us and our little one and working with him was such a wonderful way to be greeted by Bismarck!
The room itself was fantastic and clean, especially for the price! The beds were super comfortable, the shower head actually had great water pressure, and everything actually worked as it was supposed to! Unfortunately, that should go without saying, but it's pretty unheard of these days!
Their breakfast was just as fantastic! The gentleman (unsure of his name, but he had green hair) making the food and breaking down the breakfast was great and he did phenomenal job! He made scrambled eggs, breakfast sausage, set up a pancake section with multiple types of syrups, an oatmeal station with 4 mix-ins, 4 types of juice, a variety of breads and bagels, two types of cereal, fresh fruit, and breakfast sweets. We were so shocked and delighted to see so much go into this breakfast and we (obviously) spent a ton of time checking out the food!
It also snowed in the day we were meant to head home with a snow storm on our route and they were very accommodating with helping us stay an extra night until it passed. Jodi, the Front Desk Manager, was the one to help us with staying another night and we worked with her on check out day. She was so kind and friendly - exactly what you expect of a Manager!
Thanks so much for everything, Jason and everyone! All of you helped make our trip and overall experience of visiting North Dakota even better with your kindness and attentiveness! This Sleep Inn was the absolute best hotel we've stayed at in a very long...
Read moreAs a longtime Tripadvisor member I’ve only felt the need to comment on hotel reviews a couple of times in the past because I normally find Tripadvisor reviews to be accurate. Tripadvisor reviews have been a great resource over the years for finding decent hotels and not being surprised. In the rare situations where I don’t agree with the consensus I feel I should say something. This is one of those situations. This hotel is rated very well and is the second best in Bismarck. Too high. ||The hotel is pretty old, which is apparent upon entry - we had our hands full with luggage and there were no automatic door openers. And the handicap auto open pad was so inconvenient and far away that it was basically useless. The room itself, which is my main focus here, had a pleasant appearance and was very clean. The beds were comfortable. The bedding must be 1000 thread count and was downright luxurious! Shower was good. Breakfast was good - real scrambled eggs, a ham loaf of some sort that was good, and other selections.||Several things were tired or had problems. The TV was a 36” plasma with standard definition, standard definition meaning that the picture was not clear and was distorted (horizontally stretched). In the year 2024. Really? The refrigerator was not cold enough for us to store food. The coffee maker did not work. The bathroom faucets bind - worn. The thermostat was not always in sync with the air conditioner, meaning that the room was sometimes too hot, sometimes too cool.||None of these things are terrible (except for the TV, which was so small and far away and with a lousy picture that it was basically unwatchable, we turned it off). But not what I would expect for $160 and a rating of second highest in Bismarck. Our room number was 313. Perhaps other...
Read more--UPDATE-- I'm adding a star from my original (2 star) review. I was contacted by management several days after my stay (and subsequent feedback). Although it doesn't change how I feel about the experience itself, it does reflect well on the Sleep Inn brand. As I said in my original review, all of the staff we interacted with were incredibly friendly and I think this is yet another example of that. I still wouldn't recommend staying in the pet-friendly rooms until they make a serious change to the carpets & furniture. However, if you don't need a pet-friendly room then I think this a superb choice for a stay in Bismarck.
--ORIGINAL REVIEW--
I'll start with the positives:
Location The location is great. Right off the interstate. No more than a 10 minute drive to anything you could possibly need during your stay.
Staff Our stay was short, but the staff we interacted with were all very friendly.
Now the reason for 2 stars? I've stayed in a number of pet-friendly rooms with my dog. I have NEVER stayed in a room that smelt so terrible. It was the most pungent smell of wet/dirty dog I've ever come across in a pet-friendly room. It was nearly unbearable. I even went to the store to buy anything I could think of that might make the smell a little more tolerable. It was awful. It was so bad that if you had the door open you could smell the room from down the hallway. The carpet should be replaced and all of the furniture thrown out.
It's unfortunate because I think our stay would have been a five star stay had the room not smelt so bad. The rest of the hotel was nice and clean and I'm sure the other rooms were. However, ours was foul smelling and that definitely ruined our experience. I would not recommend staying at this hotel IF you need a pet friendly room. Otherwise, I think it's...
