I would give it a zero if I had the choice. My scenario is as such. I have been a loyal Menard's customer for 14-16 years. I bought all of my cordless drills there, a scroll saw, a small 9" bench-top band saw, and a flux-core welder. That was over ten years ago and all those tools have lasted the test of time and use. Some went far above home use into the realm of commercial usage ( I own a small business). In the last two years I have been expanding the services I offer to customers in the Bismarck/Mandan area and decided to buy my new tools needed for the jobs at Menard's because of prior experiences with the products they carry. I even buy a lot of soda, food, toiletries, etc, since its a one stop shop..I figured the products they carry are decent.
I WAS SO WRONG. The chainsaw I bought didn't even finish cutting up a single tree. I took it to their service warranty provider for repairs three times. It was declared a lemon on the third time. Went to Ace, bought a STIHL.
Just bought an Earthquake tiller a month ago. Waited for the rain and cold to pass. Followed the start-up procedures to a T. Motor runs well. barely any exhaust smoke and rarely misfires. For a small motor it runs extremely well. The problem is the forward cable bracket. It will not hold the cable in place and after 5 minutes of tilling it snaps loose and leaves you dead in the dirt with a 190lb machine with no neutral. I tried a zip tie, I tried bailers twine, I tried guy wire. Nothing will hold that cable in place without drilling into the machine, making a modification and completely voiding the warranty. Even a repairman that is a warranty servicer said it was junk and declare all that come through his shop as lemons. Straight out of the Chinesium box just to get $500 worth of lemons. Going to Ace to buy a Honda
The warranties are junk, products are junk, rude service, dirty store, men's bathroom smells like raw sewage with a hint of urinal cake.Only getting about half of my rebates back even though I send them off within days of making the purchase.
I once bought a coffee maker from them only to find out it had been used since there were coffee grounds in it!!!!
What the hell happened...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI ordered a door jamb on 8-23-13. They told me it would take 10 business days to have it at the store for pick up. Wrong. We called 3 times looking for the jamb after the 10 business days, and were told it wasn't there. NO ONE ever called us to give us an update on when it would be there. When a month had gone by we received an email saying the jamb was there, ready for pick up. Wrong. The jamb could not be found when we arrived to pick it up. Eventually after an hour or so looking for it, the millwork manager discovered that the jamb had arrived, but was damaged by the forklift operator on unloading. Another jamb was ordered to replace this one. When it eventually arrived, we were told to come pick it up. I told them to deliver it since we had already driven 45 miles to pick it up the first time, and it wasn't there. They said it would cost $145.00 to deliver it. I convinced them this delivery was on them. One of there contractor sales rep's delivered the jamb, with a 'throw away door' installed on it. Of course it was cut for a single light in the center, but the glass was not delivered with the door and jamb. Now I'm told that since we didn't throw the door away, we can't get the glass to fill the hole in the door that it came with. This will be my last experience dealing with Menard's, the home of inefficiency, ''you'll get it when we feel like it'' attitude, and...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreTime and again I found myself in this store because itās an easy option with such a variety of products.
The issue is, the customer service is consistently so horrendous - between associates intentionally walking another direction as quickly as possible as soon as you make eye contact and try to get help, having them lurking far enough to avoid helping but close enough to accuse you of stealing because you have been lingering in the same place trying to find something nobody will help you with, being refused help with items too big for a cart or unsafe to transport on any of the available carts and being told (direct quote) āI could just drag it across the storeā, a display that literally fell off and cut my hand when I tried to keep it from hitting my daughter and having it shrugged off by the associate I let know - and too many others to list, itās obvious customer service is not priority 1.
Admittedly today Iām embarrassed to admit I finally lost my cool with the garbage customer service but Iām done, and will do my very best to help my entire circle to find better service and prices elsewhere, as I did today when I went to a competitor a mile north and got what I was refused help on for $30 less each - where they loaded it in my truck, strapped it down, and thanked me for...
