This hotel has been open for approximately 1 month. And my review is 2 weeks into a 50 day stay at this hotel. The photos posted by the hotel on Google and the website are not photos of this hotel. Upon checking in and for the first week the rear door card reader did not work. Staff was advised, but they did not communicate to other staff. Last weekend on Saturday the elevator broke down. Staff advised, and they only posted notice on the main floor (of 4 floors). Later in the day on Sunday notice was posted on the other floors. The elevator was repaired on Monday, but broke down again on Wednesday. Notice was posted on the floors this time. The door from the lobby to the hotel is now also not working properly. I advised the staff and was told to use the other door. It is impossible to get staff to put down their phone or their book and acknowledge you. They do not smile, and give one word answers whenever possible. I have not met anyone in Utah as miserable as the staff are here. Management is usually the cause of poor morale in a workplace, and while I have only had one interaction with who I assume was the manager, it was not a pleasant interaction. Website says payment is to be made for 28 days to get discount for extended stay, yet hotel will only charge for 1 week at a time. You must go to the front desk to make payment. Recieved email today, with 1 night still being paid for, asking for payment for the next week. The email did not have a signature, or the name of the hotel in it, and was sent from a Gmail account, which is very unprofessional. Housekeeping is advertised as being once every two weeks. Housekeeping is the 15th day. They tell you that you can request any cleaning supplies or linen at any time. I requested a broom, and the staff made me feel I was inconveniencing her by doing so, despite the fact she was on her cell phone, and there was no one else in the lobby. I also requested toilet paper once and had the same impression. There's only a handful of rooms rented here, yet instead of spreading people out, guests are in side by side rooms. At most there have been 12 vehicles in the parking lot, there is no reason to fill side by side rooms. I can hear everything my neighbor does, and he can hear me. With the weekly discount, taxes, and pet fee for a ESA I am being charged $569.74 a week. For $2278.96 a month I would expect to not be treated as an inconvenience and for the staff to understand that if they have poor reviews and no one stays here they will not have a job. It shouldn't be too much to ask to be greeted with a smile and a hello. As a Platinum Elite Choice Member, I have stayed with a number of Choice Hotels. I have never been charged a pet fee for a ESA animal. While I understand that some people are obtaining ESA status for pets that do not have working roles, my dog is trained to prevent panic attacks and I had all documentation and medical records. Yet the hotel is still charging $10/night which is an extra $500 for the duration of my stay. The checkin staff did advise that after 30 days stay, the taxes can be requested to be refunded as that turns the stay from a short term hotel stay to a residential rental which taxes can not be charged for. ESA animals can also not be charged for under a residential rental, so the $10/night fee should also be returned; but I will not know their actions on that for another 16 days. If you are traveling with pets, I would not recommend this hotel. There is no grass or open outdoor areas. There is a small weed filled area under a LED sign that has a poop bag stand for pets to do their business. I am to the point I dread returning to this home away from home. I anticipated being in a brand-new hotel would be an enjoyable experience for my 50 day stay. That the staff would be fresh and helpful, not yet burnt out from the industry, but that is not the case. There are many areas for improvement and I hope that this review will urge action for improvement.

This hotel will stand as the second worst lodging we've ever experienced. I made reservations based on their 8.4 rating. I have no idea where they got those reviews. The hotel is substandard at best. We arrived at 2 a.m. and the doors were locked. We were afraid we'd have to sleep in the vestibule between outer and inner doors. I knocked on the door a few times, called the 500 help number 4 x's, before we were finally let in the lobby. It was 20 degrees outside. I was told that if I wanted fresh linens, I'd have to gather up the used linens and/or towels, put in a white basket in the room, and haul them to the front desk! I was our maid service!!! Our room was comprised of the following: 1) No coffee pot in room 2) Absolutely no utensils, glasses, paper towels, pots, pans, or even ice in the miniscule kitchenette. At least fill the trays for the guests. 3) No iron!! or ironing board in the room. We had to wait for someone to check out to get one, AND I had to hike to the front desk to get it 4) No complimentary conditioner or hand lotion, or even a box of Kleenex 5) One dinky, cheap bottle of shampoo 6) One tiny soap in the entire room 7) No soap at the kitchenette to wash hands 8) Paper thin blanket 9) Thinnest sheets I've ever slept upon, ever. 10) Three little pillows for two people. I had to hike to the lobby AGAIN to get an extra pillow. 11) The cheapest coffee stand with the most horrible coffee in the lobby 12) No breakfast 13) No snack room 14) The most uncomfortable mattress I've ever slept on, which resulted in intense pain for me 15) There was only one bedside table, so I had to put my stuff on the floor on my side of bed! 16) The outlet above the bedside table wouldn't work unless we walked over to the front door and turned on the switch first. It took a while to figure it out. Geeeezzz 17) Faulty outlet in bathroom. Fire hazard! NO FIRE EXTINGUISHER! A stove with no nearby fire extinguisher 18) No hair dryer in room 19) Gave us one room key for two people If I could give this hotel a zero rating, I would. The only reason I grudgingly gave a one star is because Torrie and Kaiya (right spelling?) at the front desk were wonderful! They have a great deal of tasks insofar as their front desk duties, washing the linens and towels, etc etc. instead of fully staffing the hotel. (I have a feeling there are no maids, and it falls upon the front desk staff to change sheets after guests leave because there is no other maid service. I rarely give bad reviews because I can always find good things with every business I review. However, this review is a PSA (public service announcement) for folks considering staying at this hotel. It's profoundly more a "no tell motel" than a decent place to stay. See additional information down below.

This spot is so perfect! And the staff is amazing! A little background first. I have lived in hotels since my sweet wife of 35 years passed away earlier this year. Before coming here to this property, I had stayed for four months at the pinnacle of luxury in SLC… the Hyatt Regency. But I wanted a more residential feel to where I was living. A suite with a kitchen so I tried places all over town including Towneplace Suites and Residence Inn by Marriott and Homewood Suites by Hilton and Hyatt House by Hyatt. While all were ok, the prices weren’t right for a long term stay. All were close to $200 a night which was cheaper than the Hyatt Regency but not where I wanted to be, pricewise. One day as I was driving down Bangerter Highway through Bluffdale, I spotted a new hotel. WoodSpring Suites. I stopped in and found it had only been open a month. I asked the front desk staff about long term rates and couldn’t believe the answer: $49.50 per night for Queen Suites with full kitchens booked online and $60 per night for King Suites with pull out sofa beds and full kitchens booked online. That would be a savings of $700-$1000 a week over what I had been paying, so I had to tour the suites. What I found blew my mind. Brand new, clean, comfortable suites with great beds, great kitchens, and all one could need to be happy. And you get points for staying here, making it even more of a bargain!! I quickly checked out of the Hyatt House in Sandy and came right over to begin saving over $700 a week!! Sandra is the GM and is always available to address guest concerns (although there haven’t been any). She and her team are just outstanding. The property is kept sparkling clean. There is an exercise room. A great laundry facility. And even free coffee and hot beverages 24/7. I want to make sure I mention Jay at the Front Desk. He was the team member that so patiently let me tour each room type, before I moved in, and who has been so helpful everyday since. Even when I don’t need anything, he is always offering fresh linens or hygiene items and asking if I need help with anything. Obviously seasoned in the hospitality industry, Jay is a consummate professional and is so welcoming, kind, and helpful. I love it here. Can’t say enough about the great value and clean, comfy suites. Wow!
