This was my first stay at this hotel. I made a last minute reservation just before driving from 4 hours away. Prior to leaving, I called and asked a few very specific questions about the hotel based on other online reviews. I found that it was pet friendly and I am extremely allergic to pet dander so I needed to make sure they had hypoallergenic rooms available. The front desk staff seemed rushed and a bit annoyed by my questions and quickly transferred me to reservations (who could not help me with specifics about the hotel). At no time was there mention that anything out of the norm was going on at the hotel. Upon my arrival, 4 hours later, tired, after 8 pm, there is a big sign on the front desk apologizing for any inconveninece as the county would be shutting off the water from 9 am-3 pm. What? This could have been mentioned before I drove 4 hours and after the period that I could cancel the reservation. I had planned to sleep in late with the 12 pm check out. I was annoyed that I didn't know this ahead of time. I was given a one gallon jug of water at check-in "if that will help". Bonnie was very helpful. She upgraded me to the club level room for the inconvenience. I wasn't impressed as that is what they usually offer SPG guests if the rooms are available. I wasn't shown any special treatment as an SPG guest upon arriving. They were making accommodations because of the inconvenience with the water. After getting up earlier than planned to shower before the cut off, I came down to breakfast the next morning to find they had a cut off time because of the water, so I had to go out into the city to find breakfast. Again, not notified of that little tidbit. When I came back from breakfast it was around 11, so I will have to say they gave me a late check out with no problem. I would love to say they did that because I was SPG, but it was more because the water was off. I took a nap and totally forgot about the water being off when nature called a little upset from the breakfast. The house keeping staff was nice enough to bring me 2 gallons of water for a flush.
All that said, it is a very nice hotel, the staff was 90% friendly and I would definitely stay again but will ask a few more questions before I leave this time. And the "lake view" is a little man made pond behind the hotel, you can see it from the elevator. Hardly enough to pay extra, but I guess it beats looking out at the street...I didn't mind the street view. It is in a good area, there is an Applebee's right across the lot within walking distance. Plenty of other things in the general area and it is on a main strip so you can't get lost going up and down the turnpike to find what you need. I highly recommend this hotel and will be back, but again, this stay was a series of unfortunate events and that is why they get minimal stars from me this time. Enjoy your stay, you actually...
Read moreFour Points by Sheraton|Richmond VA| We stayed at this decent looking hotel in mid May. It didn’t look like the photos but the public areas were delightful to look at and well maintained, until you looked closely. There was shoddy painting around every corner and caulking where the edges of everything didn’t meet. The floors were littered with tiny debris, like the broom hadn’t been cleaned, ever. | The “restaurant” was small yet cozy. It was also the source of my second compliant. The online menu was completely inaccurate. The food options listed online made the meals read like a gourmet dining experience. What we found was a poorly photocopied, 1 page menu of 9 items total. (I’ve added photos of various things, this menu included). My future son-in-law was most disappointed that the beer offerings listed were apparently 6 months out of date! The food tasted like it had all been frozen, microwaved and served on cold plates. Apparently, the head cook was sick so they were doing the best they could. | Breakfast was supposed to be at 6:30 am but at 7:15 we were given the excuse that the cook was a no call-no show and they had to wait for the backup cook. The whole experience seemed like a huge “bait and switch” to our group. | The bar had an extremely limited selection but the drinks they made were tasty. The beer selection, as mentioned before, was not what was listed online and the offerings were less than stellar. | I can’t speak to the design of all the rooms, but the suite we had was spacious. While we were missing the reclining chair in our room that was on the photos, that didn’t matter nearly as much as the unfortunate bathroom layout. The shower was about 4 feet left to|right by 24 inches deep with glass sliding doors. This gave about 24 inches for the toilet alcove next to it. The wife and I aren’t tiny, if you catch my meaning, so functionally using the toilet in a coffin was unpleasant. I removed the toilet paper dispenser from the wall to allow for a little extra room. | The room AC unit was mounted under the window and the control was on the wall to the main room. Neither worked. The room was in control and we had no ability to control the temperature in any way. What the room wanted to be, it was so. All hail the will of the temperature gods. | Appearance: 2 out of 5| Food: 1 out of 5| Value: 1 out of 5| Evaluation: rebrand as a Motel 6 so people can...
Read moreBED BUGS BEWARE!!!! After checking into this hotel late evening and exhausted I didn't think to check for bed bugs, I wish I would have before sitting my bags down! I woke up the next morning and a bed bug was running across the pillow after it feasted on my arms and hand!! When I looked more closely at the room, the mattress, bedding and walls there were clear indications of bed bugs. Blood marks, bed bugs shells, feces, and eggs, I even sent a picture of the bedbug I killed with toilet paper. I contacted the hotels manager and had them transfer me immediately to a different hotel a half hour away from the location I needed to travel to. I was offered 12,500 MP for this awful experience which is a slap in the face. I contacted corporate and they advised me that the hotels manager had pest control come out to check for bed bugs and they did not find evidence even though I have multiple pictures and videos of this evidence. I have had to have all of my clothes and shoes that were brought into the hotel professionally treated, as well as my car incase a bug travelled back with us. I have had extreme anxiety and paranoia worrying about what will happen if I brought one of these bugs or an egg back to my brand new home. I also had to purchase protectors for all of the beds in my home, as well as expensive bed bug spray. I had to throw away my luggage bags that I brought into the hotel as well as my toiletries. It is appalling to me that as a marriott gold elite member they are not willing to do anything for me at all besides throw some points at me that do not even equal one free nights stay. Needless to say I have contacted the Richmond health department and am in contact with a lawyer. Please think twice before staying at this dirty disgusting, outdated hotel. Any professional extermination service that is not on Marriott's payroll would have CLEARLY been able to find bed bug evidence. I sent pictures, videos, and pictures of my bites to the corporate office and they still did not properly compensate me or even seem like they cared. It must be a reoccurring issue that they constantly cover up. I will take my business to Hilton from now on after the way that I have been treated. I hope this information helps someone from going through what I am currently...
