**Edit to reply to the below post from the general manager: Never said you told us to get a lawyer. I told YOU I would speak to one and YOU said that I'm sure he would love to see the cameras of us violating NC state law about smoking IN the building. There was NO SUCH violation. My son THOUGHT my cousin carried his butts upstairs and threw them away however upon asking him it was determined that he did not and in fact threw them away in the outside receptacle. The trash can in the room was very full as it had trash from our dinner in it and is a very small can. Also we violated nothing. There was NO SMOKING IN THE ROOM. Even if butts were carried upstairs which they were not, it does NOT mean the room was smoked in. It would mean that like most polite humans, we used a trashcan and did not throw trash on the floor or grounds. And if the trash is being properly emptied and a new bag put in then IF in fact there were any butts in there, that smell would have left with the trashbag. Of course you will not address the rest of the issues and feel they are retaliatory. The fact is, you're a thief and a liar and I don't like either. The fact is there is a mold issue and you should address it since you are SO concerned with the health and safety of guests. In looking through the reviews it seems there are others that noticed as well. And last fact is staff is unfriendly. Just facts, not retaliatory at all.
I would leave zero stars if possible. I would never recommend staying here. They will lie to charge extra money. Got accused of smoking in a room. Only one person in our party smoked and he did so downstairs in the designated smoking area. They state there were cigarette butts in the trash and we assumed that if there were, it would be because there was no place to throw them outside so rather than put them on the ground maybe he brought them upstairs and threw them in the trash, however we found out that that was not the case and he did in fact throw them away outside in the designated area. There was only tobacco unsmoked from a broken cigarette that was in the trash. Julie lied and said we can speak with our attorney and she can show on camera how we violated NC state law about smoking in the hotel. I'm sure if it was in the lobby we would be asked to go outside or thrown out. Or are you saying there are cameras in the room?? That's creepy and disgusting and its own lawsuit if thats the case!!! Fun fact, Julie, your cameras will in fact show that the party that smoked walked outside several times and will be seen smoking OUTSIDE (sometimes by himself and sometimes in the company of one other person in our party)as is the law.... we are not ignorant and if we wanted to smoke in a room we would have stayed somewhere with a smoking room but us non smokers in the party don't want to smell it which is why I know for a fact the odor of cigarettes was not in the room as us non smokers would have not wanted to smell it and any non smokers can attest to the fact that you cant hide the smell from a non smoker. Hard to smell anything over the musty, moldy, mildew smell from the AC unit anyway. Also the beds were sloppily made and the rooms not as clean as one would expect for a room that cost more than our air BnB (pricing on Google is WAY less than we paid for a night) did for the night. The ONLY reason we were forced to stay here was the fact that we were on motorcycles and got caught in the rain and it was the closest place to where we were under the cover of an awning. The front desk staff is not friendly. You can tell they are there because it's a job and they need to work but the customer service was lacking. We turned in the keys, said thank you and got zero response from the person behind the counter. This place is a scam. Customers beware and make sure to check your bank account after leaving. Maybe someday they will rip people off for enough money to fix the mold problem. Also, when asked for a corporate number or someone above Julie, that information was refused. Hmmm.... It's fine, Google provides...
Read moreI've gone back and forth about my rating for this place, but there are just some items that really irritated me about this stay. First, I'll start with the fact that we stayed on New Years Day. Maybe that's why the price was a bit high. Still based on the reviews, we thought it would be a good option, and they had an indoor pool, which the kids were excited about. Upon check-in, I noticed that the front desk employee had the land line off the hook the entire time. I'm not sure why, but when I walked up to the counter, he was playing around on his cell phone, so it wasn't because he was using it. He was friendly enough, but then, after getting me all checked in, he informed me that they would require a $3.20 fee. When I inquired about the fee, he first said it was a gratuity for the housekeepers and the breakfast lady. Later, he changed the story to say it was so they would have my card on file if I trashed the room (I prepaid for the room when I booked it). Maybe I'm old-fashioned, but either way, it should be included with the $ 120+ tax I paid for the room. I travel for work and spend more nights in hotels than the average person. I've never been charged an extra fee at check-in. Yes, I almost always have to put a card on file for incidentals, but it doesn't require a charge.
When I filled out the survey requested by the hotel, the manager did respond to my concerns, but in my opinion, her answers just annoyed me more. She claimed the fees were disclosed upfront and that they are used to cover housekeeping, 24/7 coffee, guest laundry, and pool maintenance.
Edit 4/30/24..myself nor my husband have yet to be contacted. Actions definitely speak louder than words.
Edit to the owner comment..I understand things happen, but your night staff needs to do better at not making the customer feel as though itâs their fault your hotel is in this situation. A simple call would have made the difference in all of this. There wonât be a chance to make anything up, as we will never stay here again.
BEWARE OF ANTS!!!! When we checked into the hotel all was fine, until I woke up at 4am and found ants in our bed. We were in room 107 on the bottom floor. Went to the front desk and made the receptionist aware. She was on her personal computer and never looked up when she spoke and said how can I help you? Like we were bothering her. I made her aware of the situation of what we just found. I let her know about the ants, and her first question was, were you eating in the bed? Like it was our fault!!! I was furious, but politely said, we have not ate in the bed, and like that was gonna draw ants instantly anyway đ. She then said Iâm sure you are tired let me put you in another room and you can leave your things in your room. Well, she gave us room 102 on the same floor..guess what..ants!! They were all over the huge garden tub and we werenât about to sleep in the bed. We went back up to the front desk to make her aware and she still acted like, what?!?! At that time I was fed up and stated I couldnât stay another night. We went back to our original room and checked out early that morning. I called the hotel back that same day around 10am, and asked for the manager. She wasnât there so I explained to the gentleman that answered to make him aware of the situation. He was surprised ants were in both rooms and was very apologetic. I asked about getting back points for our stay and he was like, absolutely you should be compensated, I will have the manager call you. Left my number and guess what, no call. My husband did not want me to worry about it. The bottom floor is infested with ants!! If they are in two rooms, theyâre everywhere. I was civil with both of the people I spoke with, never was rude. Itâs been a week now and no call back from the manager. Obviously he or she cares less about this. Now we know where NOT to stay in Boone. Communication goes a long way. They donât even...
