Amazingly beautiful, affordable, comfortable, and friendly La Quinta in Boone, NC. We were driving across country for a funeral while my husband also had to work remotely. Decided to take a slight detour into Boone when we saw a great deal on a room at this La Quinta while browsing Wyndham properties along our general route. However, we misjudged traffic through Nashville and now wouldn't arrive until nearly if not later than midnight. The staff on the phone as well as in person were so friendly about our late arrival and everything else. One girl, I wrote her name down so of course I can't find it now, wished us good luck and safe travels driving the route there at night which was so appreciated. Especially once we experienced how windy (but fun) the road was, as well!
We could only stay one night and tried to stay again on our way back from the funeral but they were booked. It is no wonder! I don't even believe there was an extra pet fee, and they had some of the better pet policies of any La Quinta we'd been to in a while, as well. Our room was a suite with its own tub and fireplace. So beautiful, though the heart shape tub was a little cheesy yet also fun. We wished we had time to try it out, although we were in so late and had to leave quickly the next day so we never did get to utilize the tub. The shower was great, however, and so was using the fireplace on a surprisingly chilly summer night! Fridge and microwave worked great so we could have our leftovers from dinner for breakfast (we keep mostly Kosher plus Keto for medical reasons so finding food at the free breakfasts is usually hard). Desk was great as both a table and for working. Layout was pretty nice. Wish we got to enjoy it more.
The grounds and hotel itself were simply gorgeous, too. Our dogs loved it, as well. Really want to go back. Super comfy. Great set up. Gorgeous area.
The only two issues we had were one the tub looked actually not that clean when we looked at it again in the daylight before we left, but as we didn't use it that wasn't a huge issue. I'd imagine a heart shaped tub would be hard to keep up with! The other issue was we found a blue pill of some sort on the floor of the bathroom that housekeeping missed and we are super glad the dogs didn't get to before we saw it, as well. If it wasn't so late when we got in and we weren't in such a rush the next day we would have let them know and I'm sure they'd have taken care of anything but it was such a perfect stay otherwise we even forgot to call back about it later. Everything else was super clean, honestly. Just a really wonderful spot to stay.
Oh and while most La Quintas we stayed at had a noon check out, I believe this one was 11am so just keep that in mind. They will allow late checkouts if you ask, however (we overslept and one of my chronic illnesses was acting up so we did have to utilize the extra hour even with our rushing and are...
Read moreWarning images are not as they seem! Booked online for a one night stay (nearly $300 for 1 night). Looked at images and reviews and felt it was...okay. I have worked in hospitality for 20+ years. Hotels all over the state. I don't want to put anyone down but those rates are robbery and do NOT reflect this type of hotel. Trust me when I say, this is one of the worst experiences I ever had at a hotel. If my family hadn't been traveling with us in the room next door I would have either left on the spot or figured out how to sleep my family of 4 (2 young children) in our SUV. I was up all night thinking about how we were going to wake up with bed bugs. Silly me, knowing better, I booked a hotel that allows unlimited dogs. Makes for disgusting rooms and environment. It is not sustainable for Hotels and there should be certain rooms that are allowed for animals so everyone doesn't have to be exposed to that level of filth should they not want to be. Lady next to us had 3 dogs (3!), one almost attacked my child. The hotel is way too outdated and shame on Wyndham for allowing this under their umbrella in this shape. The couch in the suite was unfathomable. Looked like some sketchy things have gone on with that thing. I would not sit on it. Carpet is beyond gross. Shower sounded like it was going to crack into pieces and was either stained or filthy I couldn't tell, it was all black. Dirty cloth shower curtain. Sink fixture was loose and falling off with NO hot water from the sink. The grout in the bathroom appeared to be a cesspool for bacteria. The remotes in my room and my families room next door were SO filthy we had to literally wash them. Air vents were rusted. The molding around the room was falling apart. Dust all over the consoles. I could go on for days. It's always a tell tell when you enter a hotel and the entryway doors and windows are filthy and the entryway is entirely un kept (pro tip don't expect better inside). Oh, to top it off, the "vending" area had little to nothing. They don't even have vending machines. "Spa Water" at entry appeared to be days old judging by the whithered fruit. Pretty sure the people working are college students. They were nice enough but lack an eye for detail as there are hundreds of things that could be cleaned/worked on at the reception area and outside and they were no where to be seen. There should always be someone manning the front desk, always. Pool water was sketchy but not as bad as the hot tub. Little to nothing parking. Luck be with you should you stay here and hopefully you don't get the $300 bill we did for the worst experience I've...
Read moreStaff was friendly. Hotel common areas and room were clean overall although more attention to detail could have been given in the shower and around the edges of the bathroom floor. Unfortunately, we selected this hotel for the indoor pool, hot tub and included breakfast and those were less than desirable. The hot tub was closed for renovations which apparently included lots of dust because the pool was so murky you couldn't see the bottom of it. What was available for breakfast was relatively good - typical continental breakfast foods. Restocking of items was very slow and in small quantities (ie not enough bacon brought out at one time for even a family to share). Moving around the food area was very congested (it's basically a walk in closet) and we had to wait for other guests to leave in order to get a table to sit and eat. Staffing didn't seem to be an issue because there were plenty of staff members watching, so I'm not sure why the delay and small quantities of restocking the hot food items. Also, relaying info about how to use the internet and room phone during check in would be helpful. When we went to set up our pull out couch bed, there was only a blanket and pillowcase available in the closet. I attempted to call the front desk but couldn't get the phone to work. When we went downstairs to get proper bedding, I let them know about the phone and they then told me that you can't actually use the "front desk" button to call the front desk. Location and proximity to everything were great. A little noisy at night with cars on the road. I rated 8/10 because I booked for a really good price being a last minute booking, but had I paid more, I would have rated lower as it wouldn't have met the expectations of a little higher...
