Hubby and I came up to Boone to visit our son who was preparing to move to Florida that weekend with his fiancée. We have been coming up to Boone since 2016 and wish we had known of this hotel before now. (New build in 2020-I believe they said) Such a clean, comfortable and well appointed hotel with a fantastic staff of friendly people who carry on conversation with you and help with whatever you may be requesting. The lobby is spacious for entertaining guests, playing games, etc. The outside fire pit is also a nice spot to sit and socialize. The rooms are well appointed and equipped with a large fridge, dishwasher, 2 burner cooktop, sink, microwave, ironing board and iron. The king bed was SO comfortable. We both slept so well the 2 nights we were there. My arms never fell asleep and I felt fantastic upon waking. The bathroom is a bit odd. The shower has a half glass wall only, so when showering, the temp of the air is a bit cooler than you would expect while being in the shower. But it was clean and the water felt great. Design flaw in my opinion. Would have been better with a full glass door. The tv position on the wall in the room is another design flaw as you CANT comfortably watch it from the bed and is designed to basically watch while you sit on the couch. Which is fine, but some people like to watch from the bed also I think. We aren’t avid tv watchers, so this was no big deal. When turning the tv off, it lingers on with a blue light, so you literally have to unplug the two plugs to get it to go black. We addressed it to front desk, but she was not familiar as to why that was the issue. No biggie to us, just wanted to bring it to their attention. Breakfast is oatmeal (Quaker) with toppings, scrambled hot eggs, meat options (all pork it looked like and we don’t eat pork) muffins, bagels and you can make waffles, yogurts, chemical ladened cereals, hard boiled eggs in fridge (I didn’t like them as they tasted like they had vinegar on them). I really couldn’t eat the food as it just didn’t appeal to me. I tried the oatmeal too and just couldn’t stomach it. The food at these hotels just isn’t food in my opinion, but the hotel itself was worth the price as it was so clean and comfortable. We will stay here again knowing we can bring our own bit of groceries and cook in our room. I can see this being our “base camp” whenever we are in the area again and we will utilize the pool and gym next time also. Thank you to Lauren for being so kind and conversating with us and to the gentleman (who’s name I didn’t get) that worked at the front desk also, thank you! You all were so kind and that goes a long way. To the staff that cleans (literally a lady on a step-stool in the elevator cleaning the walls when we walked in) and the host that prepares the breakfast buffet-thank you!!! You make this place sparkle and feed many people, to you we are so grateful. I hope the management is aware of the fine staff that makes this place amazing. Best hotel in the area by far as we have stayed at others over the years. Book here, you will not be...
Read moreWe chose this hotel because it was close to the Tweetsie Railroad. I paid $0 for my stay, and it was still to much. My checked in our app at 4pm and the room wasn't ready yet. Added additional towels, etc on app that we needed and never received. Arrived at hotel at 5pm only to have to go to the front desk to check in (even though it supposed to be contactless) and was greeted by a woman who was too busy on her cell phone. After sharing my frustrations with the contactless check in (and that the pool was closed at 4pm) , she sat back down on her chair as I asked her if they provided luggage carts. She pointed to the lobby but, of course, there weren't any. We arrived at our room and put our belongings away to go eat. When we arrived back at the hotel, the power in our room was out. So I had to go down to the desk to ask for another room. After receiving another room, we picked up all our belongings to move to another floor only to discover we were on the side of the hotel with traffic (we paid for the mountain view side), but we had a 2 year old with us and just wanted to settle. We turned on the TV only to discover that it doesn't work. Call down to the front desk and their only solution was to wiggle the wires. At this point, I had to contact the general manager. After calling him and explaining my frustrations, he reduced my rate to the town view (which is the down grade that I received once my power was out) and he provided no apologies. After unpacking, we discovered a stink bug in the room, also brought that up with Chris, the GM, and he said he could bubble wrap the whole hotel and they'd still get in. Next morning, go to breakfast only to find some cereal, green Apples, packaged muffins, and waffles (no sausages, eggs, etc). Leave for the day to come back to get ready to go to the railroad. Leave our hotel at 445pm to be there at 5 when it opens only to discover our door doesn't lock. Called to the front desk to have someone look at it. He calls maintenance to come look at it. He gas to take the plate off and grind down the catch to make it functional, process takes 15 mins. Now we are late to the railroad. We are walking through the lobby, and the guy at the front desk tells me the GM said I have to check out. Only to lose my mind and call the GM who explains the front desk clerk didn't understand him. Came back from the railroad, checked out and left this place. Even though the hotel is a year and half old, it is dirty and smells. TVs don't work, noisy from the highway, rooms are dirty, staff isn't trained, built with cheap materials, hard to enter and exit property, inadequate parking, not enough luggage carts, breakfast is pathetic, expect late check ins., don't expect contactless checkin, don't expect customer service at all....
Read moreStaying at this location was not a pleasant experience. Shortly after check-in, I noticed that our AC was not functioning properly. I reported that to the front desk. Later, I went to pickup dinner, and when I returned, my family told me that the people above us had been stomping, jumping, and running wildly. Then, I heard it. At the two hour mark, I reported that to the front desk. It went on until nearly midnight. I was told that there was only one room that I could be moved to, due to being at 98% capacity, but it was a 1 bedroom, and I couldn't move since my family was with me.
The AC unit did come on, and it blew cool air for a few minutes, so I thought it might have started working, after my wife and kids went to sleep (around the three hour mark) it started randomly blowing extremely hot air, then back to cool air over and over. No maintenance was offered.
Around 1130 PM, the power to the hotel went off (other buildings around had power), and it stayed off for multiple hours. There was no AC in an already hot room, no lights, and a loud continuous beeping sound from the hallway. That was reported to the front desk. People were walking, talking, yelling in the hallways, and it could all be heard due to the dead silence of the other electronics like the fridge and AC unit. Once the power went out, the people above us started stomping and running again. On top of all of that, I had about $150 worth of food in the fridge, which was no longer on at this point, so that was a waste.
I had driven for around 9 hours that day, needed rest for an event early the next morning, and I knew that I would have to drive 9 or 10 hours the next day late into the night. I got zero sleep in this hotel, and I let the employees and the general manager know that I expected every single one of my points to be returned to me for the stay. The noise level, the lack of maintenance, combined with a power outage were absolutely unacceptable for a Marriott property. However, it could have easily been rectified by returning my points and apologizing. 50% of my points have been returned by the general manager, and that simply isn't good enough for the nightmare night that I went through at this hotel. The only reason that I am giving service 2 stars for this stay is because the employees were...
