*This review is based SOLEY on the customer service I received this past Sunday at the Dale Mabry/Tampa location. My furniture delivery is not scheduled until mid-July.
I went to RTG for a new bedroom set and mattress. I was acknowledged when I first walked in, which I appreciated. The salesman (I am not going to mention his name publicly) said that he would give me some time and come find me. I liked that because I'm the type of customer thst wants to be left alone and I'll seek out someone when I'm ready. I walked around for about 10 minutes before he approached again. I will say that I was uncomfortable when I was lying on the mattresses, trying them out. He hovered over me, just standing there. I had a friend of mine with me, and she was creeped out as well. He kept looking at his watch off and on, which made me feel rushed to make a decision. A mattress and bedroom furniture are big purchases. I understand that they want to be helpful and answer questions, but I appreciate being left alone. I'll come find you when I have questions or need help. When it was time to make my final decision on the bedroom set, I asked my friend what she thought, and the sales rep was very quick to bring me to the register to check out. It almost seemed like he was rushing, for fear that I would change my mind. While he was friendly, he just wasn't very personable. I really felt like he was there just for the commission sale and not the customer relationship that I hoped for in a retailer. This is my second big purchase from this RTG location and most likely will go to another location (hopefully I will not experience the same salesman behavior) or company next time. Read moreI had an extremely disappointing experience today at Rooms to Go Patio in Brandon, Florida. I recently purchased $10,000 worth of patio furniture and was so happy with it I returned for more. All regular priced merchandise. On my 2nd visit, besides more furniture, I happened to purchase a planter that was damaged in which I received a discount. It was only @$350. I didn’t realize it was a final sale although should’ve since it was sold damaged. My mistake. But today I returned to purchase more regular priced furniture and asked to simply exchange the planter and put it toward my new purchase since it didn’t fit in the space I purchased it for. After calls to the Store Manager Nelson Martinez and to the customer service dept I was told by the Assistant Mgr that they would not exchange the planter even though Customer Service told the Assistant that it was up to the discretion of the store since it is not typically their policy to return “ buy and take” items. The Assistant Mgr Samantha Owen’s should’ve been empowered to make the right decision but called her SM Nelson Martinez at home. He denied my request to exchange the planter for regular price furniture knowing how much I had recently spent in his store and was there to purchase more, today. What a short-sited businessman. Needless to say I will never shop there again and will complete my outdoor furnishings elsewhere. I also recently moved to a new development and my neighbors are raving about my furniture. I will surely be sharing this experience with them and hopefully they will furnish their outdoor spaces from a more customer...
