I put my father up at the Hampton Inn in Brevard, NC this past weekend (Friday night 11/11/16) while he was in town for my daughter's birthday. Let me say that I stay in hotels six to ten times a year, and I ALWAYS stay at Hampton Inn if I can. You can always count on them to be clean, comfortable and affordable. I've stayed at Hamptons in several cities across the Southeast and they are always wonderful. The one in Brevard, NC (actually Pisgah Forest) does not meet the standards of this great company. The young lady at the reception desk, upon noticing that the card I reserved the room with had a Pisgah Forest billing address, quickly and rudely told me that "we don't rent to locals". Hmmm. If my children and wife had not been present, I would have made her cry, but I kept my cool. We got our key and walked down the hall. The carpets, walls and ceilings looked way below company standards. The room was the same. Where are the plush white bed coverings and beautiful curtains that I'm used to? It was a handicapped accessible room, and the shower seat look like something from run down old folks home. The room smelled musty. I really thought I was at a 39 dollar a night Anyday Inn, not a Hampton. The folks from your corporate office should go and have a look for themselves. My dad is easy to please and had no complaints, but I will look elsewhere to board overflow family from now on. And about the locals thing... I know we have a lot of tourists in the Brevard area, and I know that it's fall leaf season and all the hotels around are booked tight, but don't ever, EVER, tell me that I can't stay somewhere because I'm a "local". Utterly ridiculous. I give it one star because there isn't a zero...
Read moreI was hesitant to book this Hampton after reading the reviews that were 2 or 3 stars, but our one night stay 1/21-22/23 was excellent: 5 stars!
We got the last king bedroom on the first floor. It was modern looking, clean, and spacious. We liked the closet against the back wall, with a curtain to hide it. We had lots of lights: desk lamp at desk area, free standing light behind the easy chair/table, bedside lamps on either side of the bed, and a hall light. The bathroom had good lighting, and a night light. We liked the amenities in the bathroom: lotion, make up remover packets, shampoo, conditioner, bath oil and soap.
The bed was super comfy, with soft sheets and comforter. We had 4 huge pillows. The TV was good - no problems with using it, and enough channels to watch at night and in the morning. I liked the jacket/pants hanger by the front door.
Breakfast was delicious! On 1/22/23, Paula was in breakfast area, cleaning and helping patrons. She filled up the orange juice when Husband discovered it was empty. He had the sausage biscuit, biscuits and gravy (“Don’t know what’s in the gravy, but it’s good!”), and 2 waffles. He enjoyed it all. I had the cranberry juice cocktail with 2 Raisin Bran cereals with nonfat milk & banana and an English muffin with sugar free strawberry jam. I thoroughly enjoyed my breakfast, too. The selections for food and drink were plentiful. This breakfast had plentiful and varied offerings from 6:30 to 9:30AM, and the front desk had breakfast take out bags, too!
Check in and check out was easy. I could have done both on my smart phone, but I like the human interaction. Front desk staff were friendly...
Read moreGUESTS WITH PETS BEWARE!!! Accommodations and location were fine. After leaving, we received our bill, which included a pet fee. After discovering we were charged twice for the pet fee, a call was made to try to have this remedied. We reached Pam who proceeded to tell us that since we had 2 pets we would very charged a fee for both(which had NEVER been the case at any Hampton we have stayed at in numerous states). When we checked in the pet policy was not presented to us and we did not sign any agreement like we usually do. Pam was informed that the website stated there was $50 fee for up to 2 pets. She told us that it was per pet, which is not what the website stated. Finally she said she would talk to the manager about this. That was Feb 24th and as of today, the 25th , we have heard nothing. I must mention that Pam was certainly not the most polite or accommodating person we have dealt with. I feel that they should have met us halfway and removed 50 from the bill, even if they meant to put fee was per pet, since it clearly did not state this online. The room was left in the condition we found it, with the exception that there certainly was a little dog hair left, We will certainly stay at other Hamptons in the future but we will NEVER stay at the Brevard, NC location again. (UPDATE: For fairness sake, I must say we did receive the $50 refund for the extra pet but due to the attitude we encountered we still won't stay...
