Booked 5 nights after mostly positive reviews and was really looking forward to staying here, convenient location to Glacier National Park activities. When we arrived the lady at check in was nice, the motel was old but there was some updating to the room such as trim, flooring, and bathroom. The mattress and furniture were a bit rough in our room. Overall for the price/location it was acceptable we would have stayed here, but shortly after checking in there was no water at all in the sink or shower. I went to the front office and the lady that checked us in was gone (possibly working on the broken water line) and other guests were waiting in the office not knowing what was going on with the water. After waiting, a foul older woman came out of the back and yelled at us that there was nothing they can do and they were working on it. I was a bit shocked how disrespectful this woman was towards paying guests. I’m not sure if she is a family member, but the motel office is connected to a multi family home. Some guests began leaving and we took our dog for a walk. Our dog pooped in the parking lot but there were no trash cans to dispose of the dog poop (bear country). I went into the front office and the nice lady was back and offered to take the trash or leave it on the porch, I explained it was dog poop and I’d rather take it to the trash. She said there was a dumpster beside the motel I could use. We walked around the motel on the side of the RV park and spotted the dumpster, this is also the side of the motel where the multi family home is. As we approached the dumpster the foul woman from earlier was outside smoking with several people and when she spotted us she began screaming at us that we were on private property and asked us what the hell were we doing. There were also aggressive dogs on this side of the motel they were having difficulty containing. I held up my bag of dog poop and pointed at the dumpster explaining we had permission to use the trash. We walked back to our car as fast as possible not feeling safe or welcome at all. Her behavior was completely unacceptable, even if she is residing on property at the motel/RV park or is related to the front desk staff she should have the decency to not speak to paying customers in such a derogatory manner. By 8PM the water was still not working and most guests that were still waiting decided to check out. I waited in line in the office and there was a new different woman working now who was also nice, she stated we could check out now for a full refund outside the $50 non refundable deposit already paid. We threw our bags in the car and checked out a few minutes later and were provided a credit card receipt showing a full refund for the amount paid (except the $50 deposit charged separately when we made the reservation). At this point we were tired having driven all day, and now we were in the middle of nowhere during peak season with no hotel reservations or road pass. We drove down the road to another hotel but it was completely sold out and also not dog friendly, but they allowed us to use their wifi to find another hotel. St Mary is an isolated area with limited accommodations and no other dog friendly hotels with availability. By now it was also 9PM so some of the hotel lobbies we were calling had already closed. Nothing anywhere near Glacier had 5 nights available that was also dog friendly. We ended up finding a motel in Big Fork Montana for 1 night, at twice the price and on the other side of the Going-to-the-Sun road but we had no option at this point. We left immediately and did not arrive at the new motel until nearly 1AM. Overall I would NOT recommend the Red Eagle Motel. Adding insult to injury the refund receipt they provided never went through on my credit card. I’m still shocked by the behavior of the foul mouthed woman living in the house connected to the motel lobby and don’t feel it is safe to bring your dog here due to the aggressive dogs behind the motel. Spend a little more to avoid this place altogether, particularly if you have a dog!

Stayed at Red Eagle in July 2022 in rooms 5, 9 and 11. What a gem! This place is situated on a hill above St. Mary’s Lake. It is an older hotel that has been mostly renovated. The room are about the size of a normal motel room. Instead of dingy motel carpet the owners have put in nice vinyl flooring. Heaters are available in the rooms for those chilly nights. Shower was warm and had good pressure. There were a few suggestions I would make, consider a towel rack and towel hook for the bathrooms, consider placing headboards in all room and look into the WiFi issue. The WiFi works but only outside of the threshold of the room. This was a little frustrating but hey it’s Montana. Overall that was minor. Tv worked great and the mini fridge and small coffee maker were a nice addition. For the price of $130 per night for King, you could not even come close to a better accommodation. 5 minutes to the St. Mary’s entrance to the Going to the Sun Road and 40 minutes to Many Glacier. Staff was very helpful and allowed us to borrow bear spray saving us the expense! They also gave great food recommendations. Overall, we highly recommend!

NO HOT WATER. 8pm and no hot water left in shower. Had to take cold shower after all day hiking. Shower curtain had a huge gap underneath (see photo) allowing water to FLOOD entire bathroom floor. Paper-thin walls. We heard every conversation in the rooms around us- I mean we could hear EVERY WORD said in the room next door and they could hear us too! Every bump and noise from above. Absolutely horrible. WiFi was spotty and intermittent. Extremely overpriced! Only booked here because we couldn’t find anything else available in St Mary. Now I know to just stay somewhere else- anywhere else. Drive an hour just to avoid the Red Eagle Motel. We were in Room #6. Would never ever come here again and wanted to warn others! Only nice thing was the location and the view.

Now I'm all for supporting Mom and Pop establishments and I love to support the little guy, but:||It was absolute survival to stay here. I would NOT recommend this property for any reason. Do not expect anything good from this bare bones accommodations. ||It's a time-warp motel/RV park, which is okay, if it was nice.||There were too many flying insects in the room. The window sill needed to be vacuumed, there were too many dead bugs just lying there. Dead bugs were squished on the walls and ceiling. It was quite disgusting.||The shower head was way too low. I had to crouch to take a shower and I'm a big guy. At least the water got hot. The room smelled funky, like a damp basement. The sheets were worn and bumpy from lint. The blue towels were thin and always stayed damp and smelly. The bathroom was bright but the bedroom was very dark. The sink did not have a stopper in the drain, be careful not to lose your wedding ring.||The clothes closet was in the bathroom, so when you took a shower all of your clothes hanging there got damp. ||It was a bit noisy at night with the people walking upstairs.||The only good part of the stay was that parking is right outside your room, and Glacier N.P. entrance is practically right across the street. There are restaurants and shops located nearby that are within walking distance.||I would not recommend...

NOT handicap accessible. Two rooms. First on level with office. Don't know what it was like inside because it had a 4-5 inch threshold that I was not able to get up and door wouldn't open. The other room located down the hill from the office, had a ramp to the porch area in front of rooms. No threshold. Larger room. The bed moves so you are able to push it to get enough room to get in and out of bed ( but bed slides easily when leaned against). All towel bars, towel racks, coat racks , etc... are very high up. No opening under sink for wheelchair. Tight but doable area in front of commode. Commode is about 12 inches !! high. So bring a toilet riser with you. NO handrails around toilet except a long 45° angled iron pipe on right. Shower is step up. About 30 inches square with one 45° angled pipe at your backside. No pull down or detachable sprayer. Door into bathroom obscures some of entryway into shower. A plug on each side of bed. To run the fan (no AC) you have to unplug the microwave. Bed linen was deep purple and towels royal blue..... don't know how you sanitize those..... Good hot water in sink..... never reached shower even after 10 minutes. Nice, large cold refrigerator. TV worked well and had attached DVD player ( did...
