Like other guest reviews, the cottage is welcoming and replete with full kitchen, great towels and comfortable enough furniture. The bed, for our liking, was too soft, but fine for 4 nights. The windows (very clean) and views are magnificent while the quiet and mountain air replenishes one’s being. The biggest issue was that AT&T is not present in the area so we were without our cell phones, which are the link to the weather, restaurants, the GTTS and travel distances. While the notebook in the cottage listed this issue with AT&T we would have liked to have known prior to the trip. Without our phones, we were more dependent on the info at The Cottages. Unfortunately for us, Sally, one of the owners, was not on the premises, so we did not have her as a resource. There is a kiosk that is underutilized. It posts your reservation upon entry, has a bathroom with shower, a washer/dryer and a small library of mostly GNP info. I suggest that the owners post the weekly weather forecast, along with info about travel to Canada, which we didn’t have and made the trip to the border, to discover it closed due to CoVID, and whether the GTTS is open and how far one can travel on it. Also the cottage notebook, should list the hours of the local restaurants. For $400/night, I believe the owners could extend themselves more in light of the long distance many guests have traveled. I met Terry, the other owner, by chance while he was mowing, our last night. My sense is that they have been there so long and are so familiar with the area, that there needs to be greater mindfulness about how this ‘first’ trip to Montana is so special for guests. No curiosity about who we were, where we were from and how our visit was going. Still, overall, a...
Read moreWe spend two nights here. One of them was wonderful, and for that time I give it 5 stars for the same reason as the other high reviews: beautiful views, great cabin, convenient location, etc. But on the other night, we couldn’t sleep due to drunks at the bar next door bellowing karaoke into Mr. Microphones, which blasted out of loud speakers right up the hill and into our bedroom. At 11:30 PM we put in the earplugs that the owners had left on the bedside table (never a good sign when you are checking in), but it was not enough. So around midnight we closed the sliding door and curtains, and it got a little quieter. But we were now trying to sleep in a hot, stuffy room with itchy plugs crammed into our ears. We got up periodically to see if they had stopped, but it seemed to go on well into the early hours of the morning. We woke up tired and did not get the early start we wanted for parking at Logan Pass. So that night gets 1 star. Nothing the owners can do, I guess – they have a lovely place that seems to have been in the family for generations. Too bad they are trying to do business in a town that has neither noise regulations nor consideration between neighbors. If you’re not bothered by noise at night, definitely stay here. Otherwise,...
Read moreMy family of 4 absolutely loved our stay at the Cottages at Glacier. Sally and Terry were SO wonderful- even before we checked in- with information about Going-to-the-Sun Road and other recommendations!
The Kintla Cottage itself was very clean, well appointed and SO comfortable. Our 4-day stay was at the end of a two-week NP tour and our boys (7 & 9) were a bit worn out. Having space to cook real meals and grill outside, watch TV after some long hikes and generally relax in the beauty of the place, really made the end of our trip better than we could have imagined! We didn't want to leave!
I also really appreciated that we could some laundry (our camping/hiking clothes were stinky!) and that Sally had SO many insights on the best spots to hike with kids. She also shared some of her rich family history, tied to St. Mary, which was just delightful.
It may be some years before we get back out west, but when we do (and we will, I assure you), we'll plan to stay at the cottages. We couldn't have asked for a better...
