Original review: The best thing Iâll say is that the location is wonderful. The Inn, not so much. Before I begin, Iâm not a tourist- one and done. This is not the first time I stayed here. I bring people here and live in the region and loved the idea of staying here with our friends for a fun weekend shopping, dining and being in the heart of Bucks County.
First, itâs expensive for what you get. We got a âsuiteâ that wasnât any better than a very small dingy regular room in a much lower bracket hotel. The so called suite was so designated apparently because there was a fireplace and jacuzzi.
For some reason, it was impossible to set the thermostat for the heat in the room. Therefore in the month of December -in Pennsylvania -we had to leave the windows open to mitigate stifling heat in the room. It was the most uncomfortable room if ever stayed in.
Two dinky side chairs constitutes a suite? No sofa or sitting area, two small uncomfortable side chairs with broken, sunken in seats which made it impossible to sit on. Horrible mattress- period. Just horrible saggy mattress. Zero amenities for a luxury hotelâ no sitting area, no robes, no safe, dim lighting so doing my hair and makeup was guesswork. No light in the shower.
The rooms are spread throughout the village which is charming. We were above a few stores. The building had no elevator! And they did not ask if we needed an elevator or if we were physically able to transport all we had without assistance. When we questioned reception about this- and the non-suite suite for that price, they showed no amount of caring, didnât offer any option and sounded like this should have been perfectly acceptable and normal. They did not offer to help us get our luggage up the narrow stairs and nowhere were we alerted ahead of time or when we made the reservation that there was no elevator.
Then to top things off, hotel guests get a dedicated parking space. Parking here is difficult on a good weekend. In December itâs tourist season here and when we were here it was crazy crowded. Every room gets a parking space which has a sign designating it not for public parking, with the room number on it and a violation warning for unauthorized parking. We went out for dinner and the moment we left someone took our space in a village inundated with tourists. Did we really think that members of the public would honor the towing warning? In a crowded village that looked like Timesquare on New Yearâs Eve. The two policeman nearby were not directing traffic, nor were they available for authorized parking. They were standing around chatting. But we had faith in the management of the Inn that they would at least have traffic and crowd control. Of course our space was not available when we returned. We called the front desk to ask about this and they couldnât care less, just told us to park elsewhere. When we asked whether the violator would be towed or ticketed, they scoffed and said no. So all the signs on each âInn designated parking spotâ which say that others parking in an unauthorized space will be towed at the owners expense are false.
A total waste of money and...
Read more   Read moreI was disappointed with the room. For $650 for 2 nights (and nothing included), I feel these things should be addressed if you plan on staying here...I was in the village view "extended stay" room. This room has a small kitchen in it. I was traveling with my husband and child. Anything I mention with the kitchen was observed in both cleanliness and appearance:||1) To start, there were un-wiped cup rings on the bed stands and table, which my husband and I wiped.||2) There were MANY finger print marks that have accumulated on the stove vent and were not cleaned. I also feel like dish soap shouldn't be left half way filled and squeezed (maybe use single style travel dish soap or a refillable bottle per stay). It just shows other people using the product stays upon stays before you, which is kinda eh, (gross).|-- Also the sponge left under the sink too should have been replaced and not used from guest to guest (something I did NOT use...also gross).||3) The beautiful wood beams were covered in a film of dust, which if they were to be hit or even just blown on, it would have fallen into the bed (as its right underneath the main beam).||4) It was not vacuumed when we came in.||It's a wonderful, cute little town and a perfect location for people needing to spend the night with an abundance of food and shopping. However, this particular room was clearly only "lightly cleaned" from the last extended stay and never looked at again OR it's been a long time since this room was booked.||CHECKING OUT: The front desk woman said to me "I should have called and we would have changed your room"....Do you know how irritating that is? First off, I have a 10 month old...secondly, I'm here (in horrible cold weather mind you) not looking to lug my family around town. I shouldn't be responsible for calling to get a new room because you can't manage your property and maid staff.|Obviously, mentioning this to them did nothing because the front desk woman said "I won't check you out yet, I'll speak to my manager and we'll get in contact with you" (then confirmed my email)....NOTHING. I responded to the checkout email saying 'reply here' if you have any comments, questions, concerns, opinions . . . yadeya! Still no one's reached out just to acknowledge such for future stays.||*If anyone at this hotel wants to call me a liar for my conversation with the checkout lady, look at your cameras and time stamped emails, since the front desk staff certainly has a knack for TripAdvisor snippy, documented...
I have spent many days in Peddler's Village, but have never once stayed overnight. I have a 2.5 year old and one on the way. I thought it would be nice for my husband and I to have an overnight at the Golden Plough. I thought we could go and see the gingerbread display and then see all the lights. I have been counting down all week for this babymoon. Then this morning happened. I woke up at 5:30 am to find my daughter burning up (102.7) and vomiting. We took her to the doctor at 9 am, only to find that she has the flu. After getting her medicines and coming home, my husband immediately called the Golden Plough to see if we could move our reservation to next weekend instead. He was told no. He told them that we could even send them a note from the doctor confirming that she has the flu, etc. We still got a no. A few hours later, my husband called back and asked to speak to a manager who told him the same thing. She said that they have policies that they must follow. They refused to offer us anything. Not even partial credit towards another stay. We were not asking to be reimbursed, as frankly I would still like to go on my babymoon. They offered us NOTHING. We travel a lot. And stay at a lot of places. We have NEVER EVER had a place treat us with such indecency. Needless to say not only is our babymoon ruined, but we are down $240 and our daughter is so sick at this point that we might have to take her to ER. It would have been nice if someone at this establishment had heart enough to try to do SOMETHING for us, ANYTHING. The fact that they could not even offer us another weekend, or a partial credit, or anything is just plain ridiculous. If you have children, DO NOT BOOK HERE. God forbid anything happens, they will show NO remorse or SYMPATHY. Clearly they do not understand that life happens and sometimes people need to reschedule. I guess in the life of the Golden Plough nothing ever goes wrong. Things must always be perfect in...
