We’ve been loyal customers for quite some time and have always loved the food, atmosphere, and exceptional service. It’s one of our favorite places to bring our family, The servers have always maded us feel welcome and cared for.
Unfortunately, our most recent visit on Mother’s Day was deeply disappointing and put a damper on what was supposed to be a special day. Our favorite server wasn’t there, and the difference in service was glaring. While the food was as delicious as ever, the server we had was inattentive, dismissive, and outright rude.
As a former server with over 10 years of experience, I understand how busy holidays like Mother’s Day can be. However, basic kindness and professionalism should never be overlooked—especially when families with young children are involved. My husband, holding onto our toddler, tried to pour his drink into a to-go cup himself because no help was offered, and it ended up spilling everywhere. When I asked the server for assistance, their response was dismissive. After I explained that it’s common courtesy for servers to help parents in such situations, the server responded with, “You’re parents, so I figured you could handle it.”
This response was unprofessional, hurtful, and completely ruined the mood of our outing. It’s one thing to feel unsupported by staff, but to be spoken to in such a condescending way on Mother’s Day, of all days, felt downright disrespectful. It not only added unnecessary stress to an already chaotic moment but also created tension between my husband and I, making what should have been a celebration feel like anything but.
We’ve always loved this restaurant, and the amazing experiences we’ve had in the past make this visit even more disappointing. I truly hope this was just an off day, because it’s hard to imagine returning if this is the kind of service...
Read moreWe picked the place based on the 4.8 review on Google maps, so we didn't mind the 45 minute wait for the table in anticipation. The waiter came and was not able to tell us what soups they had, and she had to run back to check. Then we asked what kind of quiche they had, she had to run and check. One of the quiches was Lorain, the waiter did not know what is inside. All these are suspicious, but sort of OK. I ordered a cappuccino, which came as a little warmer than room temperature milk, with a hint of coffee. Next came nachos - cold with cheese blah, that was neither a cheese sauce nor real cheese. The waiter took it back, and then reappeared with 4 soups. She stood above my 4yo daughter and handed the soups over, spilling chicken noodle all over my child, only noticing that when we started screaming. She asked whether she burned her, but the soup was not hot at all... I asked for manager, but the waiter came back saying that her manager was not in, and telling us that if we are unhappy we can just leave without paying. We were shocked to say the least. We explained that we have waited enough, and the child is covered with soup, and ONLY then she offered to bring some napkins and wet wipes. After that another waiter appeared and asked us whether she could help us with anything. We explained that the previous waiter did not handle the situation at all. The new waiter said that she is sorry, and that the accident was unintentional (for real? Like someone would intentionally pour soup on a person?). I explained the whole sequence of the events. After that the rest of food came out very quickly, but the quality was still mediocre, 4 stars at most, I would say even 3.5. When the bill came, there was a 20% discount.... sure, covered in soup child on a chilly fall Sunday is not a big...
Read moreI rarely if ever review places but this one deserves it. Service. The woman at the front was incredibly kind, engaging and courteous to every single person she interacted with. She was not too overbearing, not up in your business, not sickly sweet or fake at all. As someone who worked in service for 10+ years she's the type of person I always wanted to seem like, but didn't always have the energy for. Not to mention it was a busy Saturday, the first weekend of Holiday lights at Peddlers village. *i did not catch her name but I assume she's a manager or the owner Our waiter, I believe it was Terrance, was charismatic and jovial. He made it feel welcoming and to every question I had he was patient, informative, and gave opinions when I asked. He told us about how everything was handmade, and I literally enjoyed everything just as he said. Food. Fresh squeezed OJ was delicious, fruity and u can absolutely tell its fresh squeezed. Lemonade was good. Homemade tomato bisque was delicious and 10/10 (although id love some croutons in it if they're taking recommendations). Ruben with homemade fries was also 10/10 (although id recommend maybe a little more tang like some more 1000island or more sour sourkraut or pickles) The Ruben was so good that I asked about the bread and Terrance was even kind enough to sell us a loaf. Absolutely...
