We stopped here completely exhausted after we just couldn't drive anymore and got a nonsmoking double queen room. My kids wanted to immediately just in bed, but the room absolutely REEKED of cigarettes. Not like one or two cigarettes where smoked, like someone had smoke 4 packes a day for a week. I smoke occasionally and I was getting a headache within 5 minutes and didn't want to make my kids sleep in that. On top of that, everything had stains on it, the lamp shade, the carpet, the chair had a gigantic one about the size of a dinner plate. The curtains wouldn't close all the way. We tried to call the front desk to switch us rooms, but the phone was "busy" so my husband went to the front desk...Oddly enough the girl was doing absolutely nothing and the phone's where not ringing off the hook, if you can believe that. After she acted surprised at the state of the room and the whole looking through the computer like they where so full she wasn't sure where they were going to put us, my husband got her to put us on the other side of the building. This room at least smelled good, the sheets seemed clean and smelled nice. The mattress was pretty comfortable. In the morning I tried to take a shower but the shower head wouldn't point down far enough, and it just sprayed directly at the back wall, so after soaking the floor I switched to a bath. Being at that low of an angle was a bad idea, under the handles on the wall was that pinkish, orangish mildew. There was a few hairs that weren't mine, some quite short, and some quite long. Ew. So I decided I was clean enough. The day light was not friendly to the room either. Flecks and splotches of God only knows all over every walls, red stains on the carpets, and would it kill you to paint the walls every now and then? I can see the previous paint colors through all chips and dings in the wall. At least we didn't leave with any weird rashes or bites on us. I would recommend paying the extra $20 (we paid $64) to stay next door at the...

*you truly do have to 'cut through' the Best Western parking lot to get to the Budget Motel, my suggestion is to do EXACTLY that.... just cuz the sign says best, it's not necessarily true!
*no real breakfast, evidently just coffee & fresh fruit.
*no microwave or fridge in room. I guess I just take those for granted, and I didn't ask! Probably they are available in other rooms.
My first stop to check for a room was at my (former!!!) usual chain motel. Well, the one here in Burley was NOT the Best anything! Tucked away sort of behind was the Budget Motel. I hesitated, I usually prefer to stay in chain motels, but I was tired!!! SO glad I chose this place!! Not exactly "budget" as I paid $70, but that's okay! Exterior was pristine, desk clerk was super friendly, parking lots are well lit and spacious. No problem at all about accommodating Zuma (my super Service Pup). BTW, this is a very very large place, several 2 story buildings!! All outside entrances, key cards that you tap instead of insert (although instructions are on the card, maybe a bit of explanation at check in would be a good idea!). Room numbers on doors were hard to see from parking lot. Map provided by desk clerk showed exactly where room was, however. (Map is a nice touch, reminds me of checking into an RV resort!)
Room was absolutely immaculate! Older decor, but very nice, 2 written beds, nice 4'x4' wooden table with 2 upholstered comfy chairs, nice wooden desk with chair, big dresser, 42" TV, bathroom was also pristine. Only real sign of age was some yellowing of tub surround. Beds were fine, linens clean & soft.
Quiet place, even tho it's right off I-84. We were in room 360, in the "pet building", which was great as there was a huge area for Zuma to take care of business!! (NO pet smells in room)
I definitely recommend...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI had quite the unsettling experience here and feel the situation could have been handled much more appropriately by staff. I arrived at my room after checking in to find both beds looked as if they had been sat on and the bathroom light was on. I was in the room for less than five minutes before I received a knock on the door from another female guest who claimed she recently left my room and she was missing a wallet, asking to search the room. She said the hotel staff sent her back to the room to ask me after she moved rooms. ( This is inappropriate to ask of a guest and to the privacy of the new guest) she was not accompanied by staff and I felt uncomfortable as a solo traveler but did allow her to search briefly. She left after a minute and did not find the wallet. Minutes later her husband presented to the room and demanded to search my entire room, swearing, and calling me profanities. I accidentally locked myself out of my room during the incident and tried calling the front desk to come and assist me as I was extremely uncomfortable and felt unsafe. No one answered the phone and I went to the front desk to report the incident and the fact there was an aggressive strange man, a guest, demanding to enter my room. I requested to be moved and the staff did accommodate that. Security took a while to present. While it is not the fault of the hotel for this guest's behavior, I am disappointed with how the matter was handled. I do feel the guest should have been asked to leave and if the staff did direct the couple to come to my room to request to enter unaccompanied by staff or security, this is incredibly alarming. My safety as a solo traveler was jeopardized. The room also had not been tidied after the prior guests had moved rooms for whatever reason. I entered the aftermath of disheveled linens and a...
