Warning: Do not stay at this hotel if you want a good nights sleep, or any sleep at all for that matter.
I would like the preface this by saying that the Sea Breeze Inn is a perfectly average casual budget hotel that is made unbearable by a combination of two things: Paper thin walls, and tweaker guests.
From the 3 separate bizarre encounters i’ve had with people during my stay, I’ve formed the subjective, non-fact-based opinion (please don’t sue me), that this is a tweaker hotel that is frequented by people who aren’t exactly engrained into society. and I’m sure you will too after you hear exactly what happened.
Also no a/c, so you have to open your windows, exposing your room to an open field right off highway 1 which anyone can access, so you have no safety.
After getting the key to my room, I start walking to my room until this grown man in the room before me jumps out of his room, peeking his body around the door and staring at me. Keep in mind im probably 15 feet away from his door at this point and the ONLY way he could have known if I was walking to my room is if he was watching me through the bathroom window, which is right next to the door of every room, by the way, so there is little privacy. I just stood there staring back and went back to my car until he went away. Then, I was finally able to open the door to my room.
Then I personally witnessed this man and perhaps his family outside with teenage girls running around the parking lot inbetween cars and one crawling around on her hands and knees in the parking lot.
Lastly I was awoken at 6:04 in the morning by the people in the room directly above me making banging and stomping noises coming from the ceiling. It sounded like they were constantly stomping around in circles and slamming their fist down on the counter repeatedly. I couldn’t sleep and they kept doing it even after I asked them to stop. I called the lobby and complained and they kept doing it. They didn’t stop until 8:10ish in the morning when I assume they checked out but by that time I was wide awake so it didn’t really matter anymore.
The room is clean, but if you expect anything other than that then you’re in for a...
Read morePROS: 1. Location: This motel has a great location right on 101 and a few minutes' walk from the beach. There is a dirt walking path (dog, stroller & kid friendly) on the bluff and you can hike down to the water. When I say hike, I mean only about a maybe a 20-30 foot elevation change, but it's steep & rocky - basically a ravine. Not good for strollers, wheelchairs or those not strong & agile on their feet.
Rate. The nightly rate we got was excellent - about $50 a night right before New Year's. Their regular rate is at least double that, according to advertisements.
Hot water. Plenty of it for showers.
Linens. Bed linens were clean & we were given fresh towels on the morning of day two without having to ask, but see CON #2 below.
Staff. I only came in contact with three employees. They were all fine. Nothing great, nothing horrible.
CONS: 1. Condition. The room we got was a little beat up. The three windows did slide open & closed, but the latches were broken. It was hard to get them to release so you could open the windows. Not great for fire safety. The heat lamp in the bathroom gave off no heat, but the light lit & the timer wrorked. Chain lock broken but deadbolt worked fine. Keycards usually worked after about 4-5 tries.
Cleanliness/Housekeeping. NOT impressed with the cleanliness of a motel room that purports to be regularly over a hundred dollars a night, right on the beach. Hair, dirt & grime on the bathroom floor and heavy in the corners. Clearly the floor had not been well cleaned in a long time. Also, old stains on the room walls, doors, and shower curtain. Mold on the bathroom window sill. The fresh towels we were given on day two had somebody else's long hair strewn over them. That's always a little unsettling because it testifies about the kind of care given to the job overall.
Summary. I would probably not choose to stay there again unless there was no other affordable...
Read more10 Things I hated about this place:
The receptionist was not helpful, actually she was worse than a machine could be. We got placed in the wrong room, we had the reservation and the hotel was empty at that point so I went down to speak to the receptionist. She wouldn't give us our room and couldn't even keep her excuse straight. She contradicted her excuse within ten seconds of making it with another excuse with why she couldn't give us our room. Without looking at the screen, checking the parking lot, or our reservation, she just ducked any work she had to do to move us to what we paid for. She was distracted the whole time and generally came off as too busy to help anyone. She said the place was fully booked, I have eyes, no it wasn't. Not at any point in the night was it close. The shower, filled with mildew. The lights, flickering. Everything was run down, somehow in one year they destroyed the quality of this place. The pool is advertised as heated, no it was not. The poorly painted sign on the fence was an indicator of that. The tap water is awful and the vending machines with drinks were borderline empty except for orange fanta. So no water that doesn't taste rancid without leaving the hotel. We could here conversations word for word from all rooms near us. The rooms smelled weird in general. Like bleach but not quite. Something seemed really off there. The remotes were straight up missing the battery covers and had the residue of some tape on the back, because you know, who needs to buy new things for an overpriced hotel anyways? The water didn't get hot ever.
Bonus complaint: Lol, your pillows suck.
Don't go here, go to ANY of the other motels next door. Even the motel 6 was 5 steps...
