On June 29, 2025, we learned that our son had been permitted to leave the halfway house in Camdenton, Missouri where he was residing. As long-time Choice Hotels Gold Members, we made reservations at Sleep Inn & Suites Lake of the Ozarks (MO158), located at 1390 U.S. Highway 54, Camdenton, MO 65020. We chose this location specifically because it featured an outdoor pool and was just six miles from our sonās residence. It seemed like the perfect place to enjoy a quiet, meaningful visit over the busy Fourth of July weekend. Unfortunately, our stay was deeply disappointing and far from the quality we expected. Upon entering Room 210, we were immediately met with an overturned cockroach on the desk. The air conditioner ran non-stop, pumping out a strong, stale cigarette odor that permeated the room. It was clear from the start that cleanliness and comfort were not priorities. Our plans to enjoy time with our son relaxing by the pool were completely derailed when we discovered the outdoor pool was not only green and uninvitingāit was closed. During the busiest weekend of the summer, no less. There was no signage indicating when or if the pool would reopen. Instead of lounge chairs and clean water, we were greeted by electrical cords, maintenance equipment, and complete inactivity. No attempts were made during our stay to test the water, add chemicals, or make the area usable in any capacity. In a frustrating continuation of our experience, the ice machine on the second floor was also out of service. We had to make trips to the third floor just to get iceāan inconvenience that might have been tolerable under better circumstances, but only added to our growing dissatisfaction in a hot, musty-smelling room with no access to the advertised amenities. We paid $674.61 for this stayānearly $675 for what can only be described as a wholly substandard experience. In an era when companies claim to value loyalty and customer satisfaction, weāre left wondering if that loyalty is supposed to be reciprocal. Itās difficult to see how this stay reflected any consideration for guest comfort, cleanliness, or the basic expectations set forth in your marketing. We are extremely disappointed and distrustful of the value proposition that Choice Hotels promotes. This experience has given us serious pause in continuing to support your brand. Sincerely, ...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe booked at this hotel because it was accessible to those that were part of our 4 room party including 2 suites and and 2 double rooms. My mother was turning 80 and we chose to gather there because of the elevators the hot tub and indoor pool and the lovely seating areas. I spoke in detail with those at the property many times in the 2 weeks after booking. I found out the night before that the elevators did not work and our rooms were all on the 3rd and 4th floor. We were told that only suite any lower was up āsomeā steps so we decided we could carry my mother as she was the only one that could do no steps and the rest of our group could make it up 1 stair case as implies. We arrived to a 2 story stair case, of course no working elevators and the pool heater and hot tub jets were broken. A large group of folks from 55 to 85 years old. š„ I had to call family to carry 2 of our of our group group up and down the 2 flights of stairs twice and were told that there 1 hour post host check out if we wanted a late check out. Positives were: The hotel was very clean. The staff were pleasant if not able to be very helpful. A clean room and hotel is of the utmost importance and itās why I like the sleep in at this location. I was just very disappointed in what was instead of a nice place to gather as a spread out family was exhausting and had none of the amenities. I felt like I wasted my money and the money of my other family members as Iām who told everyone what an awesome stay I had had before and what a nice place it was. It was kind of...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe staff was very nice during check in & check out. It was close to where we were going this weekend and you can get to it easily. The common areas are nice and clean, the breakfast area off the lobby is great for gathering. There is a couch and TV in there and you can view the pool area from the lobby or dining area. The deck off the back has a nice view of the woods behind the hotel. The continental breakfast had the usual fare, and was very good. They could use sturdier plastic silverware though--hard to cut a waffle. We had a larger room which included a microwave and fridge, the room was massive! Even with 2 Queen beds, the desk/dresser, 4 person table and easy chair, it was easy to move around even with our stuff. The bathroom was large & clean with a full vanity. I did find it odd that they supplied soap, lotion and shampoo only. They didn't include conditioner, which is of course the one thing I didn't restock in our travel bag. With Wal-Mart right across the road you can get anything you need there. Our complaint with the rooms are the beds--they are quite uncomfortable, even my teenager woke up complaining about it. The pillows were not full size either. We were on the highway side of the hotel but the road noise was unnoticeable, the only noises were from the room above us, you could hear them walking around, but it wasn't excessive. With the new roads you can get to Osage in about 10-15...
