This property is interesting... I have stayed in quite a few Westin properties as we are Vistana and MVC owners. This property is not typical Westin. I usually rate them EXCELLENT. |The grounds at this Cape Coral Westin are lovely and check-in was quick and easy. I booked a 2 bdrm villa with washer/dryer and was given unit 1304 with a Marina View. The elevators were not clean. There is rust on most metal surfaces. The unit was huge, but not especially clean. The refrigerator handles were extremely dirty (picture below). The two sliders were full of handprints and smudges. (pictures below) The humidity drips on the outside of the windows/sliders but these were not cleaned prior to our checking in.|| There was no laundry detergent or dishwashing liquid or sponge. These things are normally in a 2 bdrm Westin villa. No Shower cap or anything in either bathroom but soap and a tiny lotion. Again, not typical of a Westin property.|My unit was missing kitchen utensils and glassware. It was all a bit disappointing for the money I paid expecting a Westin quality stay. Two daily bottled waters left by housekeeping was a nice perk.||I had to call for a spatula! Really? Housekeeping did come daily as long as you did not stay in your room after 4pm when they are off. ||Marker 92 was a lovely restaurant on the property. I had room service the first night and we ate breakfast there two times, and tried their Happy Hour, and their Mahi, Mahi Tacos and Florida Salad were fabulous!||Do not miss scheduling a free ride on the Tarpon Point Marina Catamaran to the Beach at Fort Myers at the front desk. Lots of cool restaurants and bars very close to where the boat docks and the ride there and back is lovely and the two gentlemen who ran the catamaran were fun and full of history/information regarding the area. They work for tips!||We ate at nearby Pinchers for my friend's birthday lunch. They gifted her with a free $16 dessert. Drinks there were really special. It is a short walk from the Westin Lobby. There are a number of restaurants and stores waterfront. We did not rent a car. We taxied from airport and took Ubers a couple times when we did leave the property. ||This property is very relaxing. Looking out at the marina was like being on a cruise ship looking out at the sea. The villa was massive with tons of storage space. The A/C was fabulous and the beds very comfortable. I did wish there was a spa tub in the unit. I bathed once in the tub in the second bathroom, and it was too small really enjoy.||There is a spa on the second story of the building next door we visited. Esterra Spa and Salon had reasonably priced services. I had an hour massage, and my friend had a pedicure she was very pleased with. You cannot charge services to your room!*||There is a small coffee machine in the room with the plastic trays and Starbucks coffee that is convenient, but I walked down to the lobby each morning for the much better coffee available starting at 6am I believe. It was very good (free) coffee, and I managed to juggle 3 cups back to the room. I guess I could have brought a plate from the room to carry them back easier, but I took my chances and practiced balancing them. ||We did take an Uber to the Murder Mystery Dinner Train in Fort Myers. It was a fun 3+ hours and dinner was quite impressive and filling! Chicken, Salmon or a sizable Prime Rib were the entrees to choose from. Visit Semgulf.com for more info. ||Overall, our vacation in Cape Coral was peaceful and memorable. I would just suggest that housekeeping up their game and actually supply the kitchens with all that should be in a...
Read moreThe bad: all of the sinks, showers and tubs have rust dark brown water, front desk tells you they all have it, let it run for 30 min. It’s been running an hour and 20 min now, hot water is gone, and water still rust colored. You know it’s an issue and you ignore it? I made my pregnant wife dinner with this water before I saw how dark it was. There’s literally nothing to do here, the pool has been closed 3 days and that leaves zero other option, no beach, construction above us, outside the rooms by the water, the breakfast buffet advertised on site is only for peak season, what they offer for break fast is a pitiful yogurt with granola, a cinnamon “scented” pancake, or some other weak option with your choice of concentrated juice made with the brown water that plagues the resort. There are so many biting bugs everywhere from the swamp out front so you’ll door dash some itch cream at some point. The restaurants are on par with your local mall food court quality, the pool on property is small, you’ll be surrounded by construction around the pool and a dock being built on the water, and leaf blowers outside your room early in the morning. The housekeeping walks past trash and messes around the property. This place and the other Bonvoy location we stayed at have been extremely disappointing. The rusty water is dangerous and you shouldn’t consume it or bathe in it. So how do you get clean? Why move rooms if the other rooms do the same and your engineer you send to check it says there’s nothing they can do? How is that legal? It’s not even particulate metal. It’s straight chocolate milk rust water. The 2 videos I shared are an hour apart. Rust continues after the hot water heater is empty, it doesn’t clear up or stop. And there’s no intention to fix it, they just “know about the issue”. Skip the boat dock and make the water safe for guests. Get some games and activities on property, build a better pool. I feel like I wasted my trip to Florida and money on an extremely sub par experience. The bare minimum wasn’t met.
No one offered to get bags for us, no assistance was offered with anything you’d expect a resort to be hospitable with.
Holes in sheets, brown and yellow spots on towel, brown spots on sheets. Just gross. You want to feel clean and refreshed when you stay somewhere, not like you’re covered in filth and rust.
If you try to call the restaurants you’re sent to voicemail where they state you’ll be called back within 3 days, not very helpful. Front desk will then try to connect you, to the exact same voicemail box. I really wanted to be able to enjoy at least 1 thing about this place. Bonvoy has made it easy to decide where not to stay. They’re 2/2 for crap places.
The good, room size of the suite is large, that’s the only good. 2 of the front desk people are nice, 2 seem like they’re bothered by having to be at work. But the 2 that we’re nice we’re great, one...
Read moreGorgeous property with stunning views. My balcony view was just breathtaking as the full moon rose over Glover Bight Trail. The balcony in front of my room was ideal for watching the sun set behind the marina. If my group were staying on your property while on vacation, and not there for work, it would have been ideal. I’m sad we didn’t have time to take more advantage of the site — to explore more and indulge in the spa services. The bed was so comfortable. Nice thick towels. The energy saving feature of putting the key card in the slot to control the A/C was clever and smart. I appreciated having the option of foregoing daily housekeeping. I was grateful for a recycling bin. As a vegetarian with particular allergies, your restaurants were accommodating and tasty.
Just a few things would have made the stay even nicer. I hope this doesn’t come off as hyper-critical, but some of these surprised me, and as such a luxurious place, I thought I’d share with you to help improve future guests’ stays.
For guests navigating to the hotel to check in at night, the signage and directions are really confusing. I know that’s probably due to the construction, but just a little more illumination on the signs could really help newcomers.
On our first evening there, the west parking lot reeked of cigarettes — and the east elevator smelled like a food dumpster — we guessed a trash bag may have leaked.
The internet for the printer in the lobby was too slow for when I needed to quickly download and print something.
The television in the room was so laggy and unresponsive, that it was not usable — I am finding as other hotels also adopt digital TVs with lots of features, the quality of the broadcast is impacted. I wanted to turn it on to drown out my next-door neighbor’s TV, which was clearly audible when I was trying to sleep.
The fan blades on the ceiling were dusty, and there is black around the ceiling where it looks like an older fan had been. Just a touch of paint could fix that.
I left a note on the room service menu that the menu itself is sticky (I forgot to mention it when room service delivered my meal, which was tasty).
The shower head needs to be cleaned, and the caulk doesn’t look fresh.
We had a weird incident one afternoon, where the palm trees above Nauti Mermaid, kept showering our table with fine white pollen. We moved to several different tables outside, and kept getting showered with the pollen, so finally moved inside. Our server, Joanna, was gracious and patient. I have no complaint on how it was handled —just a bizarre act of nature.
For families and events, this is probably a great location. For a work group that had to go multiple places around Cape Coral and Fort Myers, the location was...
