The setting of the Naughty Mermaid and Marker 92 is absolutely awesome, however it is run by a hotel and the restaurant which is beautiful has a great kitchen and beautiful bar is terrible. Staff have been there way too long and are good with mediocrity. We live in the High Rises adjacent to the Westin who run the Marker 92 and Naughty Mermaid. The restaurant is empty because of poor quality, small portions and high prices, the service is not terrible but not good either. Tonight we went to the Naughty Mermaid for a drink, thought we would give it one more try. What a joke they have a new one, I ordered a Vodka on the rocks, it was explained to me they had to charge extra for the ice, I am not joking. When I asked the nice bar waitress what she was talking about she said they had to charge extra for the ice??? She then said I can bring you the Vodka neat and a cup of ice, that way the ice was free. So she brought me a cup of Vodka with 1 shot of vodka that was like a 1/4” in the cup and a separate cup of ice. This place I thought couldn’t get worse. The Westin has a great facility we all know Westins are beautiful hotels and this place is beautiful. Please Westin lease the Marker 92 and Naughty Mermaid to someone that can run a restaurant everyone in America knows that Hotels have crumby food and yours is really not good. Way overpriced, small quantities and not good food. How about a Steak House like Shula’s or a good seafood restaurant they would do fantastic in the beautiful setting but you guys running the Marker and the Mermaid don’t have any business running those facilities. When we first came here 9 years ago the place was under different management during the down turn they failed, however they did run the restaurant much better and the place was full, today the management gets by with mediocrity because of transient clientele, hotel guests who come for business etc have to eat the bad food. Most head down the concourse to Gathers and Pinchers. Guests please don’t waste your time at Marker 92 or The...
Read moreA very disappointing experience. We decided not to have lunch here after the not so favorable reviews about it being dirty. We had our lunch at pinchers. We stopped at naughty mermaid later to have a drink. I walked around the outdoor tables in the bar and immediately had two maitre d’s come and get me to tell me I have to check in at the maître d’ counter. So I did and asked for a High top table for three. We waited and waited and waited for service. Finally I went back to the Maitre d and asked if we had a waitress. Finally not one but two waitresses came. I asked the waitress about what was on the happy hour menu. She didn’t seem to know what I was talking about. I pointed it out on the menu. She checked her watch and said oh yes it’s 3:30 so it’s half price on the house wines and a dollar off the appetizers. We ordered three glasses of wine and an appetizer. The spinach and artichoke appetizer came to our table lukewarm, not particularly tasty. We ate it and we’re almost finished it and still no drinks. I went back to the maître d’ and asked where were our drinks. The waitress came over and said the bartender said that she never put in the order for our drinks. So she went and got our drinks. The wine came in very cheap small plastic dollar store cups. We had also asked for glasses of ice which never came. This place has always been a very nice and classy place to go. No more, it is a place that pretends to be classy which it is not. The plastic plates they brought to the table for our appetizer look like they have been scraped across the pavers. I flipped one over and the Made in China sticker was still on it. . Surely someone has enough time to remove the made in China stickers off the back. I’m afraid we will never ever go back there. It is an absolutely gorgeous setting but has so declined in service and quality of everything that I’m not sure the view can overcome the high cost of a pretty...
Read moreThis place would be awesome if not for the servers. Atmosphere is fantastic, the food was excellent, the drink prices aren't bad.
My wife and i went for happy hour drinks and were served by Shawn, he took a bit to make 1st contract but after that was great, quick and attentive.
After a sunset cruise we had a late night snack, our server took at least 15 minutes to help us, got our drink and food order then disappeared for more than a half an hour. In the meantime everyone in our section, including us, started being attacked by mosquitoes. Needless to say we all were on the verge of leaving when the server finally returned with an arm full of rolled silverware. Must have been doing side work to get off in time to go party and ignoring her customers.
The next morning we went for breakfast. For starters, don't do the buffet, total rip off for $22. No omelette station, a very poor attempt at a breakfast buffet. I have had better breakfast for free at the Residence Inn. We ordered off the menu, it was delicious (and cheaper than the buffet)!
The service for breakfast however was just as bad as the night before. Took FOREVER to make 1st contract. It took over 5 minutes to get just water. My wife asked for a straw that never came (i eventually found her one). Finally took our order. Once the food arrived she disappeared. After 20+ minutes she reappeared, we all but tackled her and asked for our check (had a flight to catch). That took longer than it should have. Gave her a credit card and she disappeared again. After 10 minutes we decided to go inside to find her. Finally did, signed and left.
Again great food and atmosphere, service sucks! I expected more out...
