Disparity! The Bad .. and some Good Venue: delightfully small; but it became very noisy as the restaurant filled. Service was excellent- Amanda, our waitress, who I under stand also made our Manhattans. At $14 each, as was the Argentinian Trapiche wine, it was an expensive libation. (We had purchased the same wine for $3.33 a bottle on a promo at Farmer Joes). Ordered the Asparagus Gnocchi. It does not even closely resemble the photos. Two of us were served the AG with an ample helping of 14 gnocchi. It was neither “cold nor warm”. Hot would have been nice. The gnocchi were flavorless pucks; re warmed (?) and tough. There was no evidence of either puréed asparagus (as in the delicious amus-bouche) and the “sauce” contained only a few slices of mushroom and no other texture of note. Poor presentation! Not worth $33! (On the other hand, my wife’s pork cheeks were delicious, served over an excellent and tasty risotto.) We ordered the focaccia and garlic knot appetizer ($14). Are you kidding? Yuk! No further comment. In summary Next Door is not the pasta haven reviewers tout. The whole experience was extremely pricey for their offerings. Amidst all of the Cape’s competition, I don’t think this restaurant will survive after it’s initial...

The small restaurant does an incredible job of offering unique dishes that would be hard to find elsewhere. Unlike some Italian restaurants where the food is limited or heavy, Next Door has plenty of variety in selection and is not confined by the word “Italian”.
My scallops entree was delicious, tasted fresh and the ingredients really spoke for themselves. No heavy sauces or over seasoning.
I don’t have a big sweet tooth and I’m so glad our server suggested the pistachio molten cake. It’s not overly sweet and unlike any dessert I’ve had before. The whipped ganache and gelato really knock it out of the park. I wish I could eat it every day.
It’s so refreshing to visit a restaurant with amazing food and service while offering one-of-kind dishes.
Reservations are encouraged since seating is limited, and you will not regret...
Read moreNot our first time eating here as we visit Cape Coral a couple of times a year and always make sure we eat here. On Tuesday, stopped in to make a reservation for Wednesday. Res made and as we were leaving, another server yelled they were closed for a private party Wednesday so we changed res to Thursday. Get to restaurant at 4:55 and they let us wait in 88° temp outside till 5:01. Walk in, restaurant has two other tables seated and asked for a larger table. My husband is 6'4" and a small two seater table is not comfortable. Told if we want a bigger table, we need to eat by 6:30 because they have other reservations for 6:30. Young man we were dealing with was rude and obnoxious and he didn't care. We turned around and walked out. They lost a tab of at least $250...but guess they don't need the money. Bye Nextdoor....you'll never...
