The word QUALITY can in no way be related to this hotel!!! I spent the last 3 weekends traveling with my daughter for college visits and we stayed in Choice hotels every time and let me say that this hotel is awful! I should have read the previous reviews before booking and heeded everyone's recent advice. First of all, this was the priciest Choice hotel we stayed in over the 3 weeks, why they feel they can charge what they do for this hotel should be seriously questioned. After driving for 6-1/2 hours we arrived at the hotel at 10pm and were barely greeted with a hello, or any sort of words at all from the front desk attendant. Upon making our way to our room we were greeted with filthy, dusty hallways, garbage on the floor, and overall dirty conditions of the public areas. Nowhere on Choice Hotels listing of this hotel did I see a notice that it was under construction. Seriously, the dust was so thick on the carpet that you could see footprints in it.
The room had a towel bar and toilet paper holder that were literally falling off the wall. There was a new tub in the bathroom which had a faucet that ran nonstop while we were there. Love that you installed a new tub but then used the old dirty, stained shower curtain still. Gross. Normally the cups in the room are wrapped in plastic so that you know they are free from germs and safe to use, not here, just cups, hopefully the people before you didn't use them and put them back. Gross. We ended up leaving and going to a restaurant just to get out of the room for a while before bed. Pool/fitness center... is there really one there???
I enjoy Choice properties for their normally good hot breakfast, this presentation of breakfast was so deplorable that we didn't even stay there to eat because I was worried about the quality of the food. I went down to check it out while my daughter was getting ready, food was cold, there were no forks to be found, juice machine was broken, quality of food was nowhere near what we normally get at a Choice Hotel... we left and stopped at Panera. So while I paid more at this hotel I didn't get any value out of it because I still had to go buy breakfast somewhere else.
Choice Hotels needs to seriously inspect this property and remove it from their listings.
Do yourself a favor and stay somewhere else, or sleep in your car, it would be better than...
Read moreRooms and building are not as advertised. Rooms are filthy. Bugs are not uncommon. Air Conditioning did not work. When I arrived, I was told that my reservation (that I had secured with my CC) would not be honored and I would be put in a 2 double bed room instead of the king non-smoking I had reserved. After much arguing (the guy working the counter actually yelled at me!), the counter guy eventually relented and honored my reservation. This took 30 minutes. When I tried my card keys to get in, they did not work. After going back and forth to the desk 3 times and the counter guy claiming that the door's batter must be dead, he finally gave me a working set of cards. Once I got in the room, the AC just plain did not work. It blasted out warm air. I gave it 30 minutes to cool down and still no AC. When I complained, the counter rep said I signed a contract stating that if I didn't ask for a new room within 10 minutes, I was stuck. 15 minutes later he barged into my room with his master key without knocking to argue with me some more about the AC. I had to ask to "please leave or I will call the police." When I woke up the next morning to shower and get ready for work, I found that the shower was filthy and was at about shoulder level to me (I'm 6'1). I had to bend over to get the water on me and the pressure was so weak that I could not really wash properly. Wifi only worked sporadically and I did not dare touch the breakfast after all the bugs I saw (I could not identify them). I got back to my room at 3pm and my room had still not been cleaned. Instead of staying another night as I planned, I got my gear together and ended up staying at a nearby Best Western which was much, much better and cheaper for that matter..
I will never stay here again and I do not advise others to do so. There are far better choices in Carbondale for less money. Do...
Read moreThis motel simply cannot be part of the "Choice Hotel" group! The best possibility for the Quality Inn (Ha! quality, that is a real laugher!) of Carbondale, Illinois is for it to be closed permanently! Heed the other reviews. DO NOT STAY at this place. Even the homeless people at the intersection near this place will not stay here. The reserved room we were given is uninhabitable. The bathroom had not been cleaned. The commode had the moldy ring at the water level! The carpeting was wrinkled and smelled moldy! The wall sconce did not work! The vinyl baseboard was loose and flopped out into the room. Some type of cockroach was trying to make its escape from this room! We asked for a different room. The only one left was a smoking room. When we reviewed it we began to call other motels. Evidently that night had several big events in C'dale. All the motels we called did not have any rooms available. (We called six and gave up) We were stuck with this room. This motel does not suffer from poor maintenance. It suffers from NO maintenance! The pool is indoors. The water was very cold. (Indoor pools have to be heated in the summer also). Also, the broken ladder mentioned in a prior review is still broken. Never again! N-E-V-E-R!!! If we could have found any room at any other place we would have left. (We considered buying a tent and camping.). If the four of us could have slept in our car we would have. The City of Carbondale should closed this cesspool. Horrible! WARNING: DO NOT STAY HERE! (Marking a star is required to submit this review or we would not mark even the tip of a point on the star). A full refund isn't even close to compensating for the wretched place and the restless nights we...
