My husband and I wanted to visit Longwood Gardens so we booked a room here for one night. Upon booking there were no areas in which you could use any discounts such as Military or AARP so I called the hotels phone number. I spoke with a very nice gentleman who attempted also to use the discounts but couldn't. He told me he would relay the message and someone would call me back but of course no one did. Upon arriving and checking in I discussed the discounts or at least one discount with the woman at the front desk. She checked my husband's Military ID and said she believed it might be a 5%discount. We then arrived at our room. This is extremely difficult for me to discuss but I feel it warrants the upmost attention and action. I am a health professional of 44 years. When I went to use the facility I noticed that the toilet tissue looked and felt strange. I used the facility again and the appearance of the toilet tissue bothered me so I took it off the holder. In horror and yes I mean horror there was the appearance of dirt and faded writing on the top and bottom of the roll!!!!!! It had the appearance that the toilet tissue had been wet at one time!!!! Now, I'm freaking out because I'm thinking of what type of bacteria I could have contracted from this!!! I wonder what the Board of Health would say!!! I immediately went to the front desk and explained the situation to Troy who asked if he could enter our room and look at it and we allowed him to. Troy said he would discuss it with the management. Later on Troy informed us that they would give us a 10% discount in which I wanted to laugh out loud but I know Troy is doing his job and he is a very nice gentleman so we just said ok. Later on that night Troy informed my husband and I that we couldn't get the 10% discount because we booked online. What!!! Really!!! What other way was there???? We were informed new owners bought the business and had "fixed" it up. My husband and I thought there was dirt in the bath tub in which it was not dirt but parts of where the tub had chipped in several different places, the drape in the front window facing the entryway into the hotel same level was broke so it hung over, the carpet was disgusting and needs immediate replacement, the lamp in our room did not work and the painting in the room apparently was never completed!!! Why would you buy a business and open when there are so many things that need to be addressed!!It's such a shame because the hotel has a cozy vibe, and the seasonal decorations were very nice. Troy was extremely nice and did his best to help us with this extremely unpleasant experience. After we left we were offered a nights stay if we didn't leave a bad review and of course we declined. This business and many others like it care nothing about you, it all comes down to taking your money. I would steer clear of this Hotel!!!!!!! Oh and by the way, I took...
Read moreOk,first let me say this place is CHARMING. REALLY! It looks like a bed and breakfast, but its not, it's nice and homey. We arrived at check-in late around ,11:38 pm on July 7 th,leaving the next morning the 8th , one night only. The night front desk clerk was so friendly and informative,I just knew this was going to be an awesome stay. She gave us our pass key and off to our room we went.Upon getting into our room,I heard talking and laughing it sounded like it was in our room.......omg it was in the next room. I guess I should explain,in our room there was a door that was shared,we could go into their room or visa/ versa. It was open,no problem just shut and lock it,right? I couldn't, it wouldn't lock. So my boyfriend called the nice lady at the front desk, she reassured us that they couldn't get in to us, and we couldn't get in to them. We were relieved, but that wasn't good enough,my boyfriend went over ,one more time ,and put some MUSCLE into it. IT LOCKED,CLICK! The talking we could still hear but muffled.Needless to say ,we didn't touch each other that night ,because if we could hear them, they could hear us. You know what I mean? We went straight to bed, giggling and whispering how silly we felt. Ha! We slept well. The next morning came,we got coffee from down stairs,it was great. We were running behind schedule, so we had to rush a bit for checkout time was at 11am. Oh no! We ran over 30mins. it was now 11:30. We got a very nice reminder call from a different lady at the front desk, letting us know checkout time was at 11:00 ,my boyfriend said " yes,we're sorry we ran late ,we're coming down now. He hung up the phone, the very next second there was a banging on the door,my boyfriend opened it to find the housekeeping lady there saying," the front desk told me to tell you EVERYBODY OUT"!........ HUH? WHA? ......RUDE! Now I'm FURIOUS! We get on the elevator,I can't wait to confront the lady on the desk. We reach the desk she's not there so we wait. When she returns from outside. I say " You don't send housekeeping to tell a patron EVERYBODY OUT"! Her eyes widened she said, "OH MY GOD,I'm so sorry I didn't tell her to do that,I just spoke to you on the phone,I knew you were coming,I apologize". She looked sincere so I calmed down,I didn't want to cause a scene anyway, but that was SHOCKING! She also stated that she needs to make it clear, that never is to occur. I'm not sure if I would ever go back. My experience was really odd. Was it worth the $150 he spent to take me on a romantic night, NO! But still, the place was wholesome looking and charming.
I wish someone a...
Read moreThis charming hotel will definitely be one that is worth coming back to. The bed was extremely comfortable, the room was very tidy, and everything was exactly as advertised.
The breakfast was "grab and go" due to Covid, no deal breaker. Regardless, the dining room was very clean and kept up with and had coffee/hot tea 24/7. There was a microwave here available to use (none in the room that we were in- again, no deal breaker). The muffins and fruit that were available were delicious! Also available in the dining room was yogurt, apple juice and orange juice, milk, and a couple other goodies.
The sitting area in the lobby was charming and had that home like feel to it. While we're on that topic..
The employees. Management was wonderful. We felt like we were being welcomed into someone's home. The lady who checked us in (I wish I remembered her name), she had some tattoos and seemed to be mostly there in the PM hours. She's a keeper of an employee. She was very helpful and kind, often chatted with us when we would go out to the front sitting area when it was during slower hours. She was very personable. The other lady who we often saw at the front desk and doing room service (I think she was one of the owners).. Also extremely kind and helpful. We had an issue with our key card and she immediately dropped what she was doing to fix it. If nothing else, the staff here absolutely sold that place to us and we WILL be coming back.
Also worth mentioning (I left a review on their Google page as well). Ososweet Bakery just in front of the hotel, definitely check them out. Great pastries, great smoothies, great hot drinks, great people.
All of that being said, if you're looking for a charming, old timey feeling hotel to stay at. One with super friendly and helpful staff. Clean and comfortable. This is the...
