We will not be back. My husband made us a reservation for our anniversary and I can hands down say the nicest and friendliest person we met there was the valet guy, Richard.
We were sat at our table, given menus and specials were never gone over. Our waiter , an older grumpy guy, finally comes over 20 minutes later to give us water, ask if we want anything else to drink and then leaves. Doesn't even bother to take our dinner order. The entire time we were there he never gave us his name.
We finally were able to put our order in and the food was subpar - only 2 of our dishes are even worth writing about.
Crab Dib - was amazing but for the portion it was not worth the $18 price tag.
French Onion Soup - Probably one of the best French onion soups I've had. This soup literally saved them from a 1 Star review.
Salads - mine was DRENCHED in dark balsamic, it was barely editable it had so much dressing on it. My husband's was a grilled Romain that was to large for the plate and they didn't even bother to cut the stem off the bottom.
30 Day 14oz Dry Aged NY Strip - We both ordered this. We are steak people and have had steak from a lot of fabulous places. This steak doesn't even deserve to be on the menu at Outback let alone some places that is charging $70 a steak. We both ordered it medium, only one was cooked properly and mine was RARE. It had absolutely NO flavor. I should NOT have to add salt and pepper to a $70 steak, let alone use a "steak sauce". But then again if a steak is automatically served with a steak sauce - we should have known it would not have been up to par.
We didn't bother getting dessert because we didn't want to be disappointed and waste even more of our money.
Save your money and take a drive to Steak & Main in North East, Maryland. Outstanding service and steaks and not...
Read moreWhen we walked in around 6:30 for a 7:00 reservation, the place was packed. We managed to snag two seats at the bar and the bartender came to us immediately. He said he would let the manager (owner?) know we were there and he would come seat us when our table was ready. Apparently the hostess called off and, while I'm not positive, I think it was all hands on deck everywhere as I will talk about shortly. The martini and cocktail my husband had were fantastic and even, though I am positive the bartender was swamped, he never appeared rushed or flustered.
When we were seated, I noticed that a young man was re-setting a table in what was clearly not the uniform. Not that it's a big deal but I also noticed our waiter, who was superb, had what almost looked like a chef's shirt on over regular jeans. The other wait staff had on all black and a different style shirt. I'm only mentioning this because even though it seems everyone was pressed into service, we had some of the best service we've ever had. Our waiter was quiet, polite, and always there just when we needed him without ever hovering. Again, even though the place was packed, no one appeared rushed and everything seemed to go very smoothly.
The food was fantastic. Yes, the prices are high, but for the portion and absolute quality of what we were served, they were worth every bit. I had a dozen Wellfleet oysters that were so fresh I would have sworn we were in Cape Cod. My ribeye was perfectly black and blue and my husband's porterhouse was delicious. The sides were also wonderful: shaved brussels sprouts, onion rings, and asparagus tempura. Dessert was a fried apple pie with vanilla ice cream that was TO. DIE. FOR.
All in all, an amazing experience and we're looking forward to...
Read moreMarch, 2015. Business related dinner. The dining room is narrow, which means if it is anywhere near one-third full, you will hear every word from other tables. The waiter was polite and knowledgable. However, every time he filled the water glasses he placed his fingers at the very top of the glass - unsanitary, don't know who trained him.
The food is overpriced. 5 Jumbo shrimp, $15. However they were not Jumbo, maybe medium. Worse yet, they were Not fresh. I would have sent them back, but it was a business situation and I did not want any unpleasantness. $40 for a 10 ounce rib eye steak (looked more like 8 or 9 ounces), and it was not at all tender. Again, over priced, especially considering the location of the restaurant.
Baked potato, over stuffed with sour cream, was very good. 20 minutes into the meal, a glob of sour cream was found on the lower left side of my suit jacket. I didn't put it there. One of the 4 orders was Halibut. They served Scallops instead by mistake. We had a meeting to go to, no time to wait for the right order. The scallops were good, cooked well.
I reget not instructing the waiter that it is improper and unsanitary to place his fingers at the top of the glass where people place their lips. I regret not sending back the small, stale shrimp. However, if I had done so, I would have thought the damage to my suit jacket was retribution, which it was not.
They seem to have a nice clientele. However, I would...
