Terror of terrors, don't read through these reviews and be like well it can't be that bad.. It is! It really is! I needed a cheap place to stay because of a delayed business transaction and thought well if nice people work there (which they do) it can't be just awful. Everything said about this place is true and now after two days without sleep and realizing that the bathroom ceiling became a waterfall.. I'm sitting in my PJs in my car in the rain at 430am at Chapmanville Police Department on Easter morning. I intended to file a public health complaint but Google is wrong they are not open 24 hours. I did my best to tough out my four day stay, I'm big believer in capitalism. Any hip traveler would run just pulling up outside this hotel, it is practically in ruin. Yes there is a neglected for decades cemetery right in the parking lot, complete with toppling headstones. The front desk lady and maintenance man were obviously locals and extremely polite. I feel for their health working there. Upon arriving to my room, the dreaded 620 mentioned in previous reviews I immediately checked the bathroom ceiling, it looked fine. This is when I realized the door casing was still duct taped and NOW wouldn't unlatch for me. I was trapped... I expected Rob Zombie to show up through the window at this point. I had to use my car key to pry the latch back on the door. I then used spare duct tape from the previous attempt at repair to secure the latch. Of course then I had to check the window, it wasn't shut all the way.. no screen .. I took one of the wooden hangers and secured the window. Whew... It appeared clean enough, fresh linens and towels and I believe independent business owners should be able to make a living...I can do this. Now I know my judgement is awful.. I did kill 2 bed bugs, 6 cockroaches and a large moth.. they all showed up just about the same time like maybe they had sprayed prior to my arrival. Someone above me had a large dog that barked and tromped about sounding as if the ceiling might collapse... and then the last straw.. I head dripping.. the fresh bathroom ceiling was now saturated and dripping to the point I couldn't even have used the toilet. Fearing for my sanity I grabbed up my things and you guessed it, the door latch had come free and I was locked in again. Heaven help me Holy Spirit, I trust you Jesus.. I truly feel blessed to be sitting here typing this long but necessary rebuke. If the city won't shut that place down, the state should.. it's rotting from inside and out. I'm not even going to request a refund, seeing the owner never considers them anyway. Here's a tip, buy a roll of caution tape and string it across the end of the driveway. I have pictures but no way to...
Read moreOkay where to begin... the lady at the front desk was sleeping when we got there, and then had the nerve to say something about us waking her up! First red flag 🚩.she was also wearing no shoes and served us barefoot. Then she couldn't find our room key, finds it. And tells us where to go. We get not even halfway up the stairs and there are spiders, crawling everywhere. They were all outside and on our door. Second red flag 🚩. We get into the room and the door seemed to have been kicked down a time or two ago. The blankets and sheets did not match the pictures online.. it was as if "Hills have eyes" and "wrong turn" meet. Third red flag 🚩. The fridge was broken and not functional, microwave was disgusting, and bathroom was taped up. Fourth red flag 🚩. The ac in the room was cold. But I had to keep it that way so I made sure no bugs got in, and I didn't want to sleep on the bed. They charged us extra for a double room when we only needed a single, and it was because she was "too tired to find another room." We got a non-smoking room and it still smelled. It was like they didnt care. They also wrote down his cc info on a piece of paper after already charging him... sketchy... red flag number 5 🚩. This is genuinely the worse we have ever seen and the only place where we didn't want to stay the night, but simply couldnt keep going. Do yourself a favor: Keep driving. Not only was service bad, but so was the room, the bathroom, outside, and just everything...

Room #620 came with:
A collapsed light in the corner.
Broken fridge. Plugged it in and it just made a terrible noise.
Broken AC. Filter removed and placed on the bench. Turned it on and it just started banging a bearing or belt or something.
Stains on the wall.
A terrible mold/mildew smell that no exaggeration made my eyes water.
I'm not smell or mold sensitive. I couldn't breathe after just 5 minutes.
The smoke detectors chirping.
The neighbor in the hallway had their door open and were smoking / burning incense .
Everyone was nice and pleasant including the nice lady at the front desk.
We just wanted a bed, a toilet, and a shower and were happy to bring our dogs but the pet fee: anything our dogs could do to this place would be an improvement on the status of the room.
We've stayed at dozens of dives, hostels, dilapidated buildings, etc all over the US but this is genuinely the worse we have ever seen and the only place where we didn't stay the night.
Do yourself a...
