My family and I came here after leaving another Country Inn on Broad street, due to Horrible service, and feeling very uncomfortable at the property in more ways than one. Only to come to this location thinking that we have safe space to be in until we find a place to stay while dealing with being in transition during COVID. My family has been here at this location for going on the third week. We have kept to ourselves. We stated from the very begining our family size/ dynamics. We are a family of 6. We were given a double queen bed accessible room with a cot and extra blankets. When we picked up towels we asked for 6. When we got breakfast we picked up 6. There was no question. There is hardly no one in the hotel. Hasn't been more than 6-10 rooms being occupied since we'd been there. After being there two weeks going on three, There is all of a sudden a occupancy issue? These are words from only one staff memberJeniffer, in which she was well aware of our arrangements, as she also orchestrated one or more of our check ins as we payed for a week at a time. When I payed again on Saturday for the next leg of our stay, She stated to me that she was going to have to tell her manager just havent gotten a chance as her manager works nites and she works days and shes not gonna wake her. However, she will check me in (takes my money) but we may have to check out after this reservation. The next morning (Easter Sunday) I go down for tissue, and Jennifer at the front desk, tells me that she spoke to her manager (Kim Jones, whom apparently manages the Broad street property as well), and we have to leave today. When asked, Per Jennifer, the manager Kim Jones doesn't want to speak to me because there is nothing that she can or will do so no need to speak to me. The only option she gave was to go back to the other location over 35 minutes away or leave. We just paid for our room again the day before and was checked in by Jeniffer herself.. in which she told me that she was checking us in and charging us however, we may have to leave after THIS reservation. Now we have to leave today! There is a fire code issue now, but it wasnt when you started taking my money almost 3 weeks ago. When told that we wouldn't be able to be gone by twelve we need more time, the young lady told me that she could call Chesterfield.. that's it. Are you kidding me. We have three children and my sister with us who broke her foot at the start of this as she came down to help us prepare our move and she is non weight bearing on her foot so we can't just rush. And to be told that you could call the police on us!? Are you kidding me! Nope. I find it ironic that thursday night Jennifer ran outside and tried to bum a cigarette and i told her that i dont smoke cigarettes. Then the next day she makes a comment to my husband about the number of ppl when getting breakfast. The rest of the staff here at this location is very nice, however, This Jennifer, will clearly try to make you pay for what ever it is that she is dealing with. Good thing I am one to stick up for what is right, the police told us that we had rights and they had to give us a 5 day notice. As I was not leaving without my money in hand. I do not reccommend patronizing this place until management gets a face lift big time. Very unprofessional especially at a time when our country as a whole is facing a pandemic. Businesses thrive off of the community, yet this one, especially under this management could care less about the community. I reached out to corporate...they dont care.. Never received a call...

Pros: The hotel is just off of a highway into Richmond so it's very convenient to get to if traveling into the city often Lots of parking available; no matter when we came in, even when the hotel was completely booked, we could always find a space right in front. Free Breakfast; it was pretty basic but had good operating hours, was warm, and I enjoyed that they rotated the meat option regularly Staff was quite nice; we never had any issues with staff and everyone we spoke with was kind and friendly. Room had lots of space for two and it was easy to move around each other Hotel is right next to a gas station which was great when it came to refilling the rental car before heading back to the airport. the BEST blackout curtain of any hotel ever. It blocked out 99% of the sunlight for a PERFECT night's sleep
Cons: Small lobby; if you were gathering with a large group, you'd easily overwhelm the front. Room: overall, it was a bit dingy and needed some serious TLC. We're pretty sure we had a room that was previously a smoking room - there was severe discoloration on the ceiling all over and the whole room just felt old and undercared for. The decor was dated and left much to be desired in personality. There were no towel racks in the bathroom anywhere, despite plenty of wall space where some could be installed. Shelves instead of drawers in the main living space made us very glad that we're packing cube people. Desk chair was very uncomfortable for working all day. Shower had no water pressure and the plunger in the sink was broken when we arrived (this was fixed immediately when brought to their attention). This particular room was directly across from the Ice machine and directly next to the breakfast area and that did mean we could hear people getting ice at all hours and heard the staff and guests in the dining room. For the most part, it was wasn't super disruptive though occasional loud scrapes, bumps, bangs, or just general noisy guests were audible in the room. i don't THINK there's an elevator on premises. as we never had to go to the other levels, I can't guarantee it , but I don't recall seeing or hearing one anywhere.
Overall, I've certainly stayed at worse hotels (and better) and if I needed to book it again, I'd be happy to give it a second try. I think I'd like to try the suites next time and also maybe a room further from the front
Cannot comment on vending, laundry or gym as we did not use these...

The service is nasty, the rooms are disgusting; everything is either dirty or broken.
I had came in on a Saturday and when I walked in , all I smelled was cigarette. I had asked the manager why it smelled this way and he stated it was a non-smoking room. I left the whole day and came back at night to sleep. When I woke up the next morning to walk out my room I discovered a black and mild clip above a sign by the door. When I brought the manager in and showed him that, he said that's not what caused the smell and looked at me as if I was smoking in the room.
There was no toilet paper in my room so when I went to get a roll, the cleaning lady scolded me.
I then discovered a stain on my comforter and sheets. When I went to the front desk and informed the lady of the stains on my sheet and how I wanted them to be changed, she brought the manager and cleaning lady to check them out. They wanted to check out my sheets to check for the stain instead of apologizing and giving me new ones! When I showed them, they bickered in their own language and said in English, "you must've made that stain. If you didn't see it when you came in then that's you. We only change sheets when someone checks out and in." I demanded for them to change the sheets and the cleaning lady who had scolded me before stated I cleaned this room 2 times , there's no way it's dirty. I stated "I am the one paying for this room, I want new sheets , I feel very uncomfortable." I had paid $180 for my 2 night stay, I am not going to be staying uncomfortable.
When they changed the sheets they were about to put the same comforter. I told them not to, to get a new one. When the manager went out to get one I immediately opened the door to make sure he wasn't going to try and trick me and give me the same one. When I opened the door he was looking at a comforter on the FLOOR! When he saw me looking at him, he immediately grabbed a folded one on the shelf. When I asked for their names, they ignored me . I had to ask 3 more times for the cleaning lady to respond with "why". And I stated so I can report you and her attitude changed and she stated "no no, look we fix for you".
The couch beside my bed lamp is stained so disgustingly. The chair by the desk is tipped, and the window on the FIRST FLOOR is broken in my room. When I lifted the glass to see if it was closed the glass separated from the wood.
FORGET ALL OF THE OTHER REVIEWS OF IT BEING GOOD. DO NOT STAY HERE! It is disgusting, the service is disgusting, you...
