PG BBQ #1 — Restaurant in Virginia

It's sad. Wish I could say something good about the experience. First off, it's waaaay overpriced. $14+ for a beef platter and $11+ for pork without even a drink included is just too much.. But it gets worse. We ordered a beef and pork platter minced. The meats were bland. The way they were chopped, It looked more like chipped beef than minced. I was perplexed that the BBQ could be dry and yet super greasy at the same time. Only one sauce available. The potatoes were imitation and yet still lumpy and dried out. The gravy tasted like dishwater. The macNCheese was undercooked with just a cheese sauce, no real cheese, for these prices?? As much as I hoped to like this place and save the 15 mile drive to Hopewell for good BBQ, Its a first and last visit. When someone trashes a restaurant, I'm always curious what they would recommend. Let's assume that K&L in Hopewell is at least the Silver standard. The prices at K&L are about HALF (and includes a drink). The quality of food and flavor at K&L is at least twice as good. I won't even go into the furnishings or service staff. Do yourself a favor and make the drive to Hopewell, you'll save a lot more than what the gas will cost and you'll actually...

Let me first start by saying our server was very polite and provided great service. This is not a reflection of her.

Second, this food was horrible. 2 of us had food poisoning and it was terrible as we were eating it. I got the combo, my husband had ribs, 2 others had pork bbq sandwiches and another had a chicken salad. The chicken salad chicken was dry. The pork bbq was also dry but it’s a Carolina style in case you’re curious. The ribs were just god awful. Tough and chewy with terrible flavor. I also had a quarter chicken which was dry and inedible. The chopped beef tasted like a steak Um sandwich which is fine if I wanted a steak um, I did not. Sides, the only redeeming was the hushpuppies. The mac n cheese was not good. Noodles were unevenly cooked. Some were hard, some were fine and some were too done. Baked beans were not good, Cole slaw was bland. Fries were not fresh or the baked them.

Placed my order by phone at 11:53am l. Told the waitress Harley no gravy no onions on my 2 meatloaf platters. I go to pick up my order and they both have gravy and onions. She was very rude about the entire situation. Saying she was busy and did I want the meatloaf replaced and I said yes. She would not replace the entire platters so by the time I received the new meatloaf it was then 12:51pm almost a hour later (btw the entire time I'm waiting in the parking lot) and so the sides from the first order were completely cold. I was absolutely taken back by her service. I come here with my family alot and she was very rude. So I left with cold sides cold hush puppies and hot meatloaf then she completely forgot my drinks I had to go back inside...
