I had to stay here just for a night due to work. I didn't want to stay here but it appeared to be the best of the few options in this town within a few miles of the job site. The front desk lady was friendly enough. I was given a bottom-floor room. When I walked in the AC was completely turned off. It had to be 85 degrees in the room. Great way to greet your guests. At least have it on and set to 76 or something. I know it costs more in electricity but it improves someone's first impressions of the place. At first, the room didn't look bad. It looked and smelled clean. I sat in my car for a little bit while I waited for the room to cool down. While in my car I noticed there was a large group of people down the way sitting around in lawn chairs drinking. No big deal. Back in the room, taking a closer look you can tell it's run down and full of cheap cost-effective repairs. The toilet will only flush anything solid if you hold the handle down for 30-plus seconds. The building itself is built paper thin. I rarely stay at motels, I normally stay at indoor hotels. Just by looking at this motel, I thought noise above me wouldn't be a problem. Ohh I was wrong. All afternoon I could hear people walking and talking above me, not only in the room directly above me but I could hear it up and down the hallway/upper level walkway. So keep in mind, that anything above a quiet conversation can probably be heard by many occupants. Every now and then I would hear this extremely loud squealing noise that would slowly fade to a thud. I was convinced it was the door squeaking when it was being closed in the room above me. I heard this noise time after time and was growing extremely irritated. After a few hours of constant conversation, stomping, running walking, yelling and the upstairs people "opening and closing" their squeaking door I was about to go upstairs and spray some lubricant on those dang hinges. I realized the noise wasn't their door. It was coming from my AC unit. As soon as the room reaches the temperature I had it set for the AC would kick off as it's supposed to. The crazy loud squeal was the AC fan coming to a stop. I was relieved when I knew I wouldn't have to politely offer to lubricant the door upstairs. The relief soon disappeared, I knew I couldn't sleep through the night without the AC but that noise was like nails on a chalkboard at this point. I put in my noise-canceling earbuds and went to sleep. It was truly the worst night of sleep I've had since my son was just an infant. I was woken up a dozen times by loud occupants and a dozen more times by my talkative AC unit. I will never be returning to this place. As far as the safety of the place goes? It didn't seem unsafe necessarily but they probably have the 3-4 locks on the doors for a reason. And mine looked like they had been broken and repaired many times. As I was looking at the different types of locks on the door I noticed someone had wadded up some toilet paper and shoved it in the peephole. I thought that was comical. Someone was a...
Read moreThis is my 2nd time staying here. The staff and location are great and they are DOG FRIENDLY, a huge plus! Last time I stayed (Memorial Day weekend 2021) I was in room 133, (if i remember correctly) (king room) and it was very clean, comfortable and quiet. This time (Memorial Day weekend 2022) I stayed on the other side of the hotel, room 132. The beds were very comfortable and over all, a nice quiet room. The AC will freeze you out of the room if it's turned all the way up, the mini fridge was clean and worked well, same with the microwave, the flat-screen tv showed well but, they need to include a channel guide. The water pressure in the shower is awesome and the drains all drain in lightening speed. House keeping works very hard to keep the rooms tidy and comfortable, Kudos to these very sweet ladies. The lighting in the room needs much improvement and it would have been nice to have a table to eat at. I was told Days Inn is getting ready to renovate the rooms and do some much needed updating, including making them carpet free, perfect for people with allergies or traveling with their dog(s). Overall, I highly recommend Days Inn Sylacauga/Childersburg and will be returning in the fall. This is my "go to" hotel when I am in the area. Thank you Ms. Barbara and Ms. Rita for all the kind hospitality and our chats. I look forward to seeing you...
Read moreMy stay was very unpleasant. The night auditor Barbara was very rude and wasn't at all friendly. The room was dirty. The room had an odor. The bathroom looked as if no one cleaned it. The toilet had urine running down the outside of the toilet bowl and the bathroom floor had hair on it. It was a good thing that I brought my clorox. I called the front desk and the manager answered the phone and and wasn't pleasant to talk to either. He wasn't apologetic. He said well do you want to check out. If I could, I would have but I was dropped off. I didn't have transportation. He then said do you want to be moved to another room. I replied, who's to say that, that room will be clean? I told him that I already done cleaned it. He said that I will send housekeeping to your room. For what? I already did their job. I should have been refunded some of my money back. I was there for three nights because I was there for church service. Then on top of all if that I seen later on a bed bug. I wouldn't recommend this place. They ran out of bath towels and wash cloths. Housekeeping had to come to get the dirty ones to wash and dry then and bring it back. SMH pitiful. It doesn't...
