I read a lot of the reviews on here before deciding to stay. The sign out front said "Under New Management" and to "call them directly for the best rates" so I thought it might be different and I really wanted to be able to give them a 5 star review. I recommend booking online through Wyndham directly as they did price match at the front desk but they charged some additional fees that Wyndham wasn't going to charge. The hotel looks nice and you can tell they've put work into it but a lot of the work seems to have been done shoddily... the wall above the shower lining had water damage and someone just painted over that, the grout between the tiles wasn't completely filled in correctly, the carpet was cut poorly, the facade of the bathroom counter was not put on flush and then poorly filled in with clear caulking, the painters walked all over the carpet in the hallway so you can see paint everywhere... the pipes in the bathroom knock when you run hot water and you can hear every noise from the hallway. A number of times I head someone either opening their own door with the key card or knocking on a door and I thought it was on my room door! It would be great if they could soundproof things a little better. I don't know what it takes to be considered a 2 star hotel and that's what it seems like most Days Inns are classified as and that's what I really wanted to give this but it wasn't that I didn't like it or that I'd never stay there again, so I gave it 3 stars which stands for "it was OK". The staff are friendly and the room seemed clean (though the floor of the tub could use a really good scouring and I did find a couple hairs in the corners of the bathroom) and they provided a decent breakfast in the morning (precooked cheese omelettes you have to heat in the microwave, make your own waffles, sausage, biscuits, gravy, 3 varieties of bread for toast (and all the accoutrements to go on it), cereal & milk, fruit and coffee / juice / tea. I was a little disappointed in the cleaning of my room though as I had left a small tip and told the cleaning woman in person that I would be leaving her a better one the next day. She changed the lightbulb that I had said was burnt out and taken the tip but that was it. She hadn't made my bed up, vacuumed, replaced the dirty towels (or taken the dirty ones to be washed), emptied the trash, or replaced the coffee I had used with new ones. I couldn't help but be a little disappointed. On an unrelated note, the $20 fee to get into the Chincoteague Wildlife Park is good for 7 days! So go as soon as you get there and enjoy the beach!

I love going to the island whenever I can. Sometimes the hotel options are a bit sparse. This was one of those times. I checked the reviews and thought I’d give it a try even though there were so many negative reviews. I have to say that the reviews were right. The hotel is very run down and needs a lot of work. This place was pretty well like a hotel you would see on a horror movie. The hallways were sketchy with the light being broken and just hanging out on the floor for any child to come by and pick up and cut themselves. The floors were dirty. The walls were dirty. The rims were dirty. I can understand being run down and just needing to touch up a bit. But this was just neglect and a simple desire to not clean and keep the property up. There was dust everywhere in the room, ketchup/blood (who knows) on the wall, and grimy floors. The door was broken and had to be forced open and closed, and there was a crack between the door and the door jam big enough you could see through it. Not very private at all. I overheard the cleaning staff talking to someone about being out of “everything” and needing direction on how to do their job. That might be why the place is dirty… These rooms are SMALL. Barely enough room to walk in there. The listing said there was a desk in the room, there was no desk and honestly no room for one if they wanted to put one in there. The breakfast was sketchy. This was the smallest and poorest example of a breakfast I’ve ever seen in a hotel. I’m not sure why more effort wasn’t put forth here. When we arrived we booked a room for 4 people. We had three towels in the room when I got there. I went down to the desk to ask for more and had to beg to get them to do that. They apparently need you to turn in the dirty ones before they will give you more, which they seemed like I was trying to steal the additional towel I asked for…. In general most of the staff I encountered seemed as though it was a chore to interact with customers. Now I will say this, the cleaning staff I encountered were very nice. They always spoke to me and smiled. They were a true gem, I wonder how much better the hotel would be if they let that lady run the place? For now I’ll say that if you are looking for a place to stay on the island, don’t stay here. For the price - this place isn’t cheap - I’d expect way more. I paid about $200 a night to stay here, that is exceptionally high for what you get.

Absolutely disgusting hotel. It’s only getting one star since it is the only way to leave a review. We checked in after a long day at the beach. The room was DISGUSTING to say the least. Wyndham should be ashamed allowing a hotel in this manner to hold a flag let alone the non-friendly or presentable staff. Tammy the “manager” was absolutely rude telling me “No one is forcing you to stay here” after I raised the issues of the room we were assigned with her. You could not pay me to stay in this retched establishment. It reeked of mold and mildew, one of the bedskirts was torn, hair was stuck in the sheets and bedding, and there was holes/dents in walls. Not to mention the bathtub had a hole in it, the shower curtain rod was about to fall out of the wall which soaked the floor, the light in the bathroom was clearly growing mold, and the ceiling looked like it was mid construction. I have never seen a microwave with rust on the outside until this day. Clearly the last complaint about this EXACT room was ignored. This room should never have been sold to a guest. Tammy still had the audacity to charge $364+change after viewing the photos above plus some, while refusing to provide record of check in/check out within the hour and assuring us nothing was charged to our card. She even complained that she was unable to “turn the room” because we took quick showers and inspected bedding to ensure it had been washed which clearly it was not. We offered to pay a small fee for using the showers as we inspected the room while each were showering only find it got worse the more we looked at the room and our offered was declined rudely by Tammy. Whatever ever you do, please do NOT stay here if you value your health. We checked in to the Chincoteague Inn shortly after collecting ourselves from this disastrous hotel and staff. I highly recommend the Chincoteague Inn!

The manager "PAULA" has to be the most insulting manager I have ever experienced in 20 years. I arrived to check in to the hotel and upon entering the room, the carpet was sticky and stain ridden and my son noticed ants on the night stand. I asked the manager to take a look. She denied everything and tried to convince me their was nothing wrong with the room. I went back to the front desk and began to ask for a cancellation of my reservation. She refused. I asked to speak to the owner-she told me I wasn't allowed to speak to the owner of the hotel. As other guests were checking in and able to hear our conversation, she attempted to offer me another room instead of cancelling my reservation. I agreed to check out the other room-initially, this appeared cleaner and the floor was less sticky. After a 3 hr trip with young child, I gave this second room a try. Once we settled in to take a shower, we realized there was no shower curtain. We asked for someone to put one up and the lady at the front desk told us she wasn't a housekeeper and that we needed to put the shower curtain up ourselves. Eventually, Paula did come to install the shower curtain. We then decided to turn on the AC and immediately a very strong mold smell came out of the vent. We thought we could handle the odor by purchasing lysol and spraying the room. It was so strong, we packed up our bags again, left the door open and went to dinner. We hoped that the room would have aired out and we would get to sleep that night. When we returned, the smell was even stronger, and my roommate began to break out in hives as she is allergic to mold. I attempted to contact the manager again. She was THE most unprofessional staff person and should NEVER work in customer service again! She told me that she couldn't be sure my friend was breaking out due to mold. I asked her to smell it. Of course, she came in the room and said she couldn't smell a thing. Next, I was told that she would not contact the owner (this is now my 3rd request), and she would not cancel my reservation. I was told that I could dispute the charge with my bank, and that the health department was just out recently and gave the hotel a clean bill of health. Why was the health department out recently? They must have received another complaint recently. All of her statements, defensive attitude, and unwillingness to provide professional customer service, allowed me to understand that she must receive these complaints regularly and is used to giving these kinds of statements to customers. It is clear to me that the owner of this hotel has her as a "guard dog". Paula and the other staff person, are trained to deny any customer issue and they talk with you as if there is no other option, but to be charged for your stay, regardless of whether you come or go. Paula also told me she didn't care if I contacted corporate, because the owner bought the name, but doesn't have to answer to anyone. It was like she was the gatekeeper to hell! I could not breathe, my roommate was breaking out in a rash due to the strong smell of mold/mildew and we left minutes before midnight to drive 3 hours BACK HOME, where I know I can lay in a clean bed. I have never been treated like this as a customer, and usually don't write reviews. I absolutely had to write a review, and plan to submit this review in as many websites as possible!!! I have filed a complaint with Wyndham Resorts and expect proper resolution-A FULL REFUND! Pay the extra money to stay at another hotel. The town REALLY is beautiful and I am so sorry, I couldn't stay there to enjoy it. My holiday weekend was ruined at...

I stayed here for a research vacation. I was underwhelmed upon first sight. The parking lot is gravel and the turn into the lot has some pretty good size bumps. The hotel is clearly older than expected. The outdoor pool water was a funny green color and I didn't catch a smell of chlorine at all. It was a turn off as it was in the front of the hotel and people in it were on display for anyone who drove by. We walked into the lobby and were greeted by a friendly lady at the check-in counter. Yes, counter, because that is more of what it is. She was friendly though. She was very clear that the hotel was smoke and vape free and that we could not bring our bicycles into the building. They did have a small bike rack behind the hotel which was convenient. When we got to our first floor room I was extremely disappointed and somewhat disgusted. The bottom mattress was exposed, there is a strong smell of old, stale cigarette smoke in the room. Even with the AC set on 68, it was not helping with that smell. There is no closet in the room but there is a six drawer dresser. There is an iron and ironing board in the room but there is no cover on it. The bathtub/shower had someone elses brown dried up soap on the wall and it was clear from the dried up soap scum and discoloration that the maid doesn't clean the shower. The pictures on the website do not show you just how small the rooms are. We had to keep our bags behind the door to the room because anywhere else and we would not be able to walk around the beds or get to the microwave or be able to open the dresser drawers. Even more disturbing to me was the fact there is no luggage rack to elevate either of our suitcase. we had to open them on our bed or the floor every time we needed something. I hope no bug crawled into my bags. I immediately went to the Family Dollar across the street and purchased bleach bathroom cleaner. I watched in horror as the brown streaks ran down the shower walls and the tub floor. Nasty! Breakfast this morning was less than satisfactory. At 9:00am, breakfast is until 10am, no one was refilling anything. Tables were not being wiped down- just under whelming. Not only that, there was no ice in the ice machine. I read some reviews while I was sitting at the table. Other reviews also noted that the ice machine was broken during their stay. I guess they have no intention of getting it fixed. Day two of our stay I wanted to make a cup of tea after our evening bike ride. To my disgust there was a coffee filter dried up and about to grow fuzzy mold on it still in the coffee maker. I was truly done!! I will never stay here again. For the price they charge for this place, they should be ashamed!...

The first thing I need to talk about are the positive things at the hotel. The staff were friendly, knowledgeable, and accommodating. The room was nice, but bare of pictures on the walls. The breakfast was good, with sausage gravy being offered every morning, and different flavors of yogurt other than the typical strawberry and blueberry. Those were the only positive things I can say about my stay.

On the negative side of the equation, there were a number of items that should be laid on the owner of the hotel franchise. The handicapped ramp is on the front of the building, but the only parking is in back. The flattened area of the curb that would allow handicapped access to the ramp is too small for a wheelchair to fit. Getting onto the ramp would require an almost 90° turn.

The website did not mention that the hotel was undergoing renovations, so there was an open area on the wing closest to the front desk that was separated from the rest of the hotel by a wall of plastic and tape. Specifically stated on the website was a year round heated pool, but the pool had no heating, was not covered for the winter, and was full of green water, and green scum. Also, there was no mention that the hotel does not have an elevator. I was concerned to see that the fire escapes were made of wood, because the possibility of a fire that burst from the side of the building, or rains sparks from the roof, could cut guests off from escaping, or seriously injure them if the fire escapes burned and/or collapsed.

My room was small as it barely fit the two double beds. There was no closet, or even a rail to hang clothing, leaving the ironing board and iron to sit out in the room. The beds were short, I sincerely doubt that anyone six feet or over could stretch out on the bed without their feet hanging off. At five foot seven inches, it was almost too short for me!

Even after all of the negative things I have listed, I would have given the hotel a higher rating, but this last thing kept me from giving a decent score: the hot water was in VERY short supply. After being out all day, and covered in sunscreen, my traveling companion and I both needed a shower. My friend took a short shower, and I waited about half an hour before going in the bathroom to take my shower. I got a blast of lukewarm water for about 30 seconds, and then got nothing but cold water. I had to kneel in the tub to wash and rinse my hair, prior to taking an abbreviated sponge bath.

Unfortunately, the stay at this hotel was definitely not a relaxing getaway. There were problems from the time we unloaded the car, until checkout. The only positive thing that will stay in my memory is the...
