We stopped here for lunch after camping for 3–4 days with family and kids. We were at the table for 45–50 minutes, and the only food we eventually received for the kids came after we were already served wings for the table. Several tables seated after us—served by the same server—got their meals first. Our server never once checked on us or apologized, and we had to get up twice to ask about the kids’ food.
When I canceled our two adult entrées after nearly an hour of waiting, the server responded with attitude and excuses about a larger party, even though the restaurant wasn’t busy. The manager came over—not to apologize—but to kick us out, insist we pay for the kids’ meals, and claim their “board” says there’s a 15-minute wait time (we’d been waiting more than twice that). He even suggested we “go to The Pearl for quicker service.”
There was no apology, no effort to make it right, and no sense of responsibility for a bad customer experience. If management and ownership care about their reputation, they should start looking inward, taking accountability for the many poor reviews, and fixing the real issue: the lack of basic customer service and professionalism. Until then, families would be wise to eat elsewhere.
Replying to the owner/ manger: You had one big table not sure how you make the multiple. I got two other kids meal then your server proceeded on serving other people. Also, after serving other people managed to still get another table that after us their wine after just serving them their food as well. Then she got our second set of his meal after another person for my party had to get up for the second time to speak with a server and that was into your dining hall in front of your bar how come the manager didn’t see or hear that sounds like a lousy manager for not stepping in to begin with.
3.My “meltdown” of me requesting my two entrées to be canceled was reasonable because we were leaving. Your server should’ve just said OK or apologize before I even started “yelling”. Crazy how someone has two get up not once but twice to ask about the kids food. And the fact that you are so willing to blame your server and saying that it’s her fault of course it is her fault that the food was more than 45 minutes late. It was also her fault that she didn’t check up on us at all it was also her fault that she didn’t explain to us that there was going to be a bit of a wait due to a large party or to even apologize or acknowledge the error. So I’ll do the right thing and apologize for yelling at her when in fact you as a manager or owner should teach your servers and staff how to communicate with your customers appropriately. at the end of the day This all falls on you as a manager or owner because you’re lacking in your Position. So no, I don’t deserve an apology for yelling at her, BUT WE DESERVED AN APOLOGY BEFORE IT GOT TO THAT POINT! NO ONE SHOULD HAVE TO GET UP TWO TIMES TO GET AN UPDATE ON THEIR ORDER! And i only “yelled” at your server after she gave me attitude with stating that my food was coming right away, even though I was sitting there for 50 minutes with nothing and she never told us that the food was going to take this long.
and yes things happen at a restaurant but look at your negative reviews they have a common factor that after awhile you do need to take responsibility and change something.
And being asked to leave didn’t matter because we were on our way out, hence the cancellation of the orders. By the way who the heck would want to wait 50mins - 1hr for food? Use common sense. The lack of accountability in your managing skills is crazy.
And not that it matters to you, but I have worked at a restaurant before and we knew how to take accountability for our actions and to always apologize to a customer because they were always right, even if we were in the right. Especially for a restaurant that is to cater to travelers you need to do better. You’re the first restaurant I’ve ever had horrible service at. I’ll pray for...
Read moreWe came as a group of 4 for breakfast. There were 2 other seated tables in the entire restaurant and 2 waitresses working when we got there.
Our first issue was that we were offered no refills for coffee. We asked the waitress several times but I guess she just kept forgetting? So we finally got up to walk up to bar where we could see the coffee pot was and waitress came out of the kitchen and was rude about it. She frustratingly came over and refilled our cups then but never again. We honestly should have just left at that point and I wish we would have. Asking for refills for coffee at breakfast is not out of the norm!
Unfortunately she also took forever to take our order. She just kept disappearing but there weren’t any other customers in the restaurant at this point. Our very normal basic breakfast order took over 45 minutes and was cold when it came out. She said nothing about the wait when she sat it down. We were just so hungry and tired of waiting BUT we couldn’t have even complained to her anyway bc she was never around. She never came back to ask about our food.
We had our credit cards out forever waiting for the check. Maybe bc our plates were not empty she didn’t think to come back??? But she wasn’t even in the restaurant area. We had been there an hour and a half for breakfast at the point when walked up to the bar area again asking for someone to get our server and the check.
And she again rushed out of the kitchen area annoyed to bring us our checks. Even then -she took our credit cards but she never ran them. She Sat them down by the register and came back to clean our table just looking around all confused at us and our plates still having a lot of food on them but she didn’t say anything to us…… we politely asked where our cc slips were and she said she was just cleaning our dishes off. That’s great & fine that she’s finally at the table- but we were already waiting sooo long, could we please have our bill so we can leave. To which she says “she lost them and didn’t know where she sat them down.” We said it’s right there and pointed to where we saw her lay them down beside the register area. Oh my.
The whole experience was just so bad we actually felt bad for her and we genuinely could not have been nicer to her given the situation. I was honestly waiting for a hidden camera to come out and tell us we were...
Read moreI had very high hopes for our first trip here and entering/sitting down we were pleasantly surprised with the vibes and attitudes of all the workers. Our server was super friendly and easygoing, much like the island itself. No complaints about any of that, and it was super clean and comfy sitting down. As for the food, it was a bit of a letdown. The poke menu was almost double any poke dish I’ve ever been to, and nothing special about it. Overall that was fine, just overpriced. The seafood dishes we got were fine, again nothing special but the oysters were super fresh. Wings were good, which is rare in this area. Fish was a tad fishy. My main gripe with the whole thing was the fries. Aside from being cold, it was like someone ran across the street to McDonalds and plated them with the entrees. This place is no longer a food truck, so if its going to be $20 a plate for seafood dishes, it would really make a huge difference to step up on the french fries. These were clearly thrown from a frozen bag into the oven and then served. If the bill had been closer to $60/70 it really wouldn’t be such a letdown. In short, there really aren’t too many great places to eat in Chinco. I might eventually give this place another shot and try the burger etc, but when all was said and done I wasn’t impressed. If you are going to charge $22 for a fried shrimp basket, at least take the time to make your own fries and...
