We had some family come in from out of town on Friday for my dadâs wedding this weekend. They decided to get a hotel at the Key West Inn (we recommended the Best western). They booked it for Friday night & Saturday night for 2 adults & 2 kids. It was 3 adults, & two kids that came down but the one adult was staying with us at our house. The only ones that ended up staying at the hotel was my cousin & her husband because the rest of them wanted to stay with us. Anyways the adult that stayed with us, & one of the kids got ready at the hotel for the wedding on Saturday (again she wasnât staying the night there she was just there to get ready). She had went down to the lobby to borrow an iron, and the lady asked if she was a guest she said âyesâ. The lady asked for her name she told her, and she wasnât on the room. So the lady told her âyou canât be here. No guest aloudâ my cousin then offered to pay extra for her just to shower and get ready in her sisters room. The lady said âno you have to leave you canât be hereâ so my cousin said âfine Iâm gonna get my stuffâ the lady was then telling her she couldnât get her stuff and she had to just leave. Well she needed her stuff for the wedding so she went to get it, and she went to the parking lot to wait for her sister to get back there from Walmart so she could drop her back off at our house or somewhere to get ready. The lady then said âyou canât be here. You have to get off our propertyâ and made her literally leave the PARKING LOT, and stand in KFCs parking lot. She was literally just standing there with her stuff waiting. Not causing any trouble. She was not tryna sneak & stay without paying. She only had her stuff at the hotel to get ready with her sister because we were all busy it was my dadâs wedding.
Fast forward to today they go to turn the keys in, and the lady is there again this morning. My cousins husband takes the keys in, and sees a sign that said â$20 for an extra guestâ so he did get upset. He was like âhell no we offered to pay extra for my sister in law to shower & get ready & you said no guest aloudâ. The lady told him he had to leave or she was calling the police that she dont make the rules she just enforces the rules (again there was a sign saying they could pay for a extra guest). Anyways they said âwe are leaving we have our stuff in the carâ the lady then still calls the police on them even after they left, and they were pulled over in front of visions. The officer said that they were called by the lady at the hotel, and they were also called the night before about the other situation even though the night before my cousin left the parking lot and stood in KFCs. (My cousin was picked up by her sister on saturday before the cops got there so they didnât know the cops were called.)
I feel like this situation could have been handled in a different way, and didnât have to escalate into what it did. The lady was very rude, and treated them horrible for absolutely no reason. They were treated as if they were causing issues/damage to the place. I HIGHLY DO NOT RECOMMEND KEY WEST INN. From this situation this weekend it seems they have no hospitality. I hope this post finds the right people so either this can be corrected whether they apologize or they at least find a...
Read moreBecause of the work I do for a living, I had to stay at this same hotel on two separate occasions. The first being the week of Sunday, August 17th through Friday August 22nd (2025). The second stay was from Sunday September 14th, through Thursday September 25th (2025). The difference in these 2 stays were like night and day. The only thing different between them is during the first week, I was in a non-smoking room, 220 I think. The second time I was in a smoking room, 209. The first stay was better than I expected considering the price. Room service daily, clean, new towels and linens, and I mean new new, not just clean but new. When I had to talk to an employee once, regarding a package I had delivered, she was very nice and friendly and helpful. No complaints during the first stay, would have recommended to others, was a 5 star stay....
The second week ... Boy, let me tell you... Roaches in the room on day one, but I got there late Sunday night, and I asked about getting a different room, they said it wasnt possible. I was pissed, but I had to wake up at 430am the next morning, so I said I'll deal with it the next day. They must've sprayed or something while I was out, bcuz when I returned to the room on Monday afternoon, there were no roaches, but as I was leaving Thursday morning to check out, I saw one in the bathroom, so they came back within 3 days. The towels looked gross, like the kind of towels you wouldn't use after a shower, but maybe to clean a car with, or to dry a dog off with. The staff were useless when I attempted to change rooms. The sheets also looked like they needed to be thrown out and replaced. My neighbors on either side of me apparently knew each other and they kept going to and from each other's room, all damn night, on 2 different nights. Just a shitty 1 star hotel stay the second time. Basically, if you HAVE to stay there, get a non smoking room because apparently that makes a huge difference in the quality of your stay. If you can avoid staying there, I'd recommend doing that.
The location and proximity to various food choices is the only good thing...
Read moreThey got 1 star because you can't post with zero stars! DO NOT....I REPEAT....DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL! It looks fine from the outside, but once inside it is another story. We stayed there on June 9, 2017. The 1st room we were assigned was room 211. There was a dirty wash cloth on the pillow of one bed. Also, on that same bed, the sheets had mascara on them. I went to the office and complained. The lady at the desk was very nice and apologetic. We were reassigned to room 210. It wasn't much better. But because I still had the keys to the 1st room, we mixed and matched to make things tolerable. Out of 4 blankets, only 1 did not have a huge hole. Using a total of 8 pillows would have made 2 good pillows. The lampshades were burned from using the wrong size bulbs. But "the owner" I suppose, put a stop to all of this. After peering in our window like a PEEPING TOM, I asked him if I could help him. He then demanded that we put everything back the way it was. The man barely spoke English and apparently did not understand English, "French" or sign language. After securing our room as best we could, we went out for the evening. Upon returning to our room, I went to the vending area for a snack. The vending area consisted of a drink machine, a broken ice machine and several old mattresses and box springs. The only redeeming quality of this hotel was that the floors were nice. BTW, none of us got any sleep. The walls are like rice paper. Close to I 65, but not that close. On a 4 lane road, but Clanton closes at midnight. Not sure where the noise was coming from. Then, at about 8 a.m., housekeeping began to vacuum room 211. We paid almost $75 dollars for this dump. Save your...
