This is an absolutely perfect coffee shop in every way, starting with the star of the show, the coffee. The espresso in the cappuccino is smooth and full and clean tasting, with almost no acidity or bitterness. The old Rancilio two group espresso machine is a real Italian made classic, and the baristas clearly know her secrets! The baristas were friendly and they indulged my total nerd out over the machine and the quality of the coffee they served. The decor is a combination of well made new pieces made to look old alongside real antiques. Very late 1800âs mercantile/industrial. The music, a great choice of easygoing classic rock and indie (Florence + the Machine and Fleetwood Mac), was played quietly and unobtrusively, and would only float into conscious sound in conversational lulls. The pastries were fresh and handmade, not frozen and reheated. They were not oversalty or dense, but let the flavors of the actual food in them shine through. The store is perfectly positioned on the old main street, with easy on-street parking. Iâd come back to visit this town just to...
Read moreTerrific coffee shop just off 441 in Clayton. I honestly don't expect great coffee in small towns anymore after lately enduring a series of pale, listless, bitter brews (mainly in a flimsy cardboard cup with a green logo: You know who you are). So, while driving back to Tennessee through northern Georgia, I was pleasantly surprised at finding White Birch Provisions, which makes a good cup of dark roast, just the right strength and not bitter at all. They also have a big variety of pastries (sweet and savory), all made in-house. I had the pear scone, which was one of the best scones I've had outside the UK, but everything looked delicious. Most folks who drive through Clayton on 441 wouldn't know there is a charming, several-block-square downtown just to the west of the highway on Savannah and Main Streets, with a brewery, a lot of nice restaurants, and the White Birch Inn. I'll definitely stop back in at White Birch Provisions next time I'm...
Read moreWhite Birch Provisions feels like a space made for slow mornings and quiet focus.
Sunlight moves gently through the windows, touching everything from the polished banister of the winding staircase to the shelves lined with wine and cheese. It is part cafĂŠ, part bakery, and part something more inviting than either alone.
I ordered a breve that arrived warm and smooth, handed over by two baristas who made the space feel as welcoming as the drink. A slice of cherry pie followed, tart and buttery, along with a cinnamon bun that was soft and just sweet enough. Both were baked in-house and felt like they had a little care folded into the dough.
This is the kind of place that gives you room to think.
Highly recommend, especially if youâre looking for a beautiful spot to work, read, or simply...
