We absolutely loved our visit to Blue Ridge Toys! As adults with no children, we often enjoy popping into unique toy stores to check out the latest offerings and revisit our childhood. Blue Ridge Toys fulfilled this wish and then some! They have unique and smart toys; toys that suit all sorts of interests and personalities. I would love for my niece and nephew to go and plan on a return visit just to bring them, because I think Blue Ridge Toys would be heaven on earth for them.

The store itself is beautiful and welcoming. It's bright and open, and each unique display, both along the walls and in the center of the store, draws you into the heart and soul of the store, making you feel truly like a kid again. My husband and I especially loved the board game section of the store and had a great conversation with the owner about all the amazing board game selections they have. He recommended a game that we were able to purchase and cannot wait to play, but we would have gladly bought many of the other games he recommended...his friendliness and enthusiasm were infectious and will definitely make us repeat customers in the future.

I have been to this store, made multiple great purchases, and even brought fellow parents because of how available and open they are with the kids playing with all the toys; however, due to one extremely negative encounter, we will never return. In a subsequent visit showing off the store to friends, my daughter played with a pillow in which a pom pom fell off the seam. Even though dozens of toys are consistly played with, this weak seam was a point of extreme contention for the owner turning what could have been a simple stitch fix into a very negative situation stating that we broke the $30 pillow and were then required to purchase. In full transparency, the majority of their items appear to be high quality but this item was clearly not (as I held it, another pom pom fell off in my hand). When trying to understand the situation further, I was accused of "attacking" the owner. I was eventually offered the opportunity to fix the pillow and return it but was not given a receipt so I am now unable to exchange my purchase. They have lost a customer and an advocate. Oh how I love this little boutique!! If I show interest in a toy, an employee ALWAYS graciously shared knowledge, often opening a box to allow hands-on before I make a decision. Our toys from here are the kind we pass down for another to enjoy. This is no box-store. They do the “shopping” for me, offering thoughtfully selected toys that encourage imagination and learning. #notachain #shoplocal
