I have stayed here while visiting family before and this motel has definitely seen it's better days. Out of the three places to stay, this one by far gets the most business, but if they don't start making repairs and sprucing it up it might start to lose customers who opt to stay 10 miles away. I was tempted to do that because it took 4 rooms until there was a decent room. The first one the water in the bathroom didn't work, the second the smoke alarm beeped every two seconds, and the key to the third room wouldn't work to let you in. Finally, the lady at the desk gave us a room that was suppose to be a suite, but is just a room with a sofa in it. There was a huge crack in the door and the ac makes crazy noise when it starts. The bed was clean, but after wiping everything down in the bathroom there was major dirt on the cloth. This is the first time I have encountered all that I mentioned above since the place was built and for right now it's still better than wearing out your welcome with family. There is a convenient store next door and a Huddle House which is handy for snacks and meals. It is quiet (when is not in Cochran) so if your room doesn't have any problems, you'll get a decent night's rest at least. By the way, there is a newer hotel down the road, but you'll end up spending $84 to sleep there which is crazy for a small sleepy town. It's not like you have Disney World in your backyard! So Royal Inn is your best bet for a place to stay. The management will work with you to...
Read moreIt's not often when an owner of a hotel will get argumentative with a guest for making a reservation at his or her property, but the owner of this place did just that by scouting at me for making an online reservation instead of reserving the room in person. Huh?? Really?? He also seemed very irritable that it was 8pm. He put me on notice that if I locked myself out (the room I was in had lock issues and I had to remember to leave the door open if I walked out) or needed any assistance and it was after 10pm, I'd be out of luck because they would be unavailable. Talk about welcoming!!?? And my reception by the wife the following morning at checkout was just as rude...she made a scouling face and told me it was completely unnecessary for me to inform her I was checking out...I thought I better since I had no key to leave at the front desk (door lock was broken) and they seemed the type who might charge my card saying I never checked out. I was treated like a bother by them. As for the room, it was very outdated and very rundown. Old big box TV, no hair dryer, no coffeemaker, no breakfast. Crummy everything, including the owners' attitudes. Even the toilet tissue was just sitting there not on the holder. Very...
Read moreWe rented three rooms this week as we visited my grandmother on her deathbed. We had three infants,a five year old, one pregnant mom and four additional adults throughout the three rooms. The youngest infant got bit by bed bugs as well as my mother in another room. My mother found one of the bed bugs and took it to the owners and they said they "do the best they can to stay on top of it" and thats why the rooms smell like bug spray. The best they could do was offer her another room. Really!? Two out of three rooms have bed bugs and they want to give her ANOTHER room!? How about a refund? New mattresses? CRAZY. ||Additionally, the lamps didn't work. They brought "new" bulbs and 5 minutes later one of them blew again. you could see where the metal that attached it to the wall was hanging slightly down out of the wall. Probably a good thing that it blew so that my daughter didn't get electricuted. Anyway, that was...
