I booked this hotel because I was going to All Things Go at the Merriweather Post Pavilion. This hotel was close by and was a part of the discounted list of hotels provided by the festival. The rooms had a nice setup for three person room - two beds, one pull out couch. There were also two bathrooms (one with a toilet and the other with a shower - both had sinks). Overall the room worked for our purpose, a place to sleep between days of the festival. It is also walkable distance to a gas station, KFC, and Burger King. There were two major disappointments: breakfast and cleaning. The breakfast looked like a standard hotel breakfast: bagels, english muffins, scrambled eggs, sausage, blueberry and chocolate muffins, and coffee. Coffee was not replenished regularly throughout the morning, sausages were damp, and they ran out of non-gluten free muffins. We had the hotel breakfast on one of the days but otherwise ate elsewhere. As for the cleaning of the rooms - on the first day of the festival we came back and the room had not been cleaned - I know that some hotels have a policy of not cleaning during the entire stay, so I went to the front desk to mention that the room hadn’t been cleaned. The woman at the front desk said that it was their policy to clean every other day because of COVID and she would make sure our room was cleaned the next day. We came back the next day and the room had not been cleaned again. I did not expect to come back and find the room had been scrubbed down with toothbrush - I simply expected fresh towels at the bare minimum. The front desk was happy to provide fresh towels upon request. I do suspect that the hotel is grossly understaffed, since I had to pick up my own towels from the front desk and that would also explain the breakfast issues. I also think that hotels should stop using COVID as an excuse to not clean rooms every day. Hotels want people to forget COVID and be fully booked, but on the other hand they want to skimp on services such as cleaning and breakfast, which is...
Read moreWe are currently staying at this hotel, and of all other options we had (closer to our destination) we chose this one because this one had a pool, offered complimentary breakfast, and complimentary parking since we would be staying with our young boys. We'll now I wish we had chosen any other because the pool and breakfast situations have left a lot to be desired. We checked in late at night Saturday, Sunday we had breakfast, and wanted to use the pool right after, but it was closed "temporarily." It was open when we went down to eat, but by the time we had finished eating, it wasn't. It was never reopened on Sunday. It is now Monday, almost noon, and the pool is still closed. We have just one more night here. It doesn't even matter. Now, breakfast has been so so, Sunday it was super packed of guests, and you would think the hotel management knowing it was a fully booked weekend due to it being Easter would have staffed accordingly, but no, they had just one employee (she was very nice) replenishing the food and goods. We came down to eat at 8:40 am (breakfast stopped at 9:30) We were never able to get whole milk for the cereal as the only canister for while milk would not be enough for the amount of guests waiting for it to be refilled. Breads, muffins, bagels, and such were not enough for the number of guests. Maybe there was more in the kitchen, but with just one employee tending to the breakfast area, it was just not enough, by the time she came back with the eggs, something else needed to be replenished. It took us almost the entire time that was left for breakfast to be able to get enough food for all 5 of us, and when I asked at 9:10 if more english muffins would be put out I was told "no" because breakfast would be ending soon. I feel the employee was doing the best she could while remaining courteous, but she was obviously overwhelmed. Not all has been bad. The room is nice and clean, the check-in was smooth, and the hotel is clean and located in a nice area. It is also...
Read moreWe have stayed at the Columbia, MD location several times so we were looking forward to another nice experience. However, what we were expecting did not happen and we will never stay there again. Pros: The rooms were clean and the bedding was very comfortable. The room we had was very quiet and we were able to get a good rest. Cons: We were there for two nights, and no one at the check-in station greeted us or acknowledged us. When we checked in, the one person glared at me as if I was taking up her time and the other person who checked us in really didn't smile. The next day I walked past the station and the person was scrolling through their cell phone and didn't acknowledge me at all. I would smile at them and say good morning and they would just look at me blankly. The only person who said good morning to me was one of the people cleaning the rooms. Although the rooms were clean when we arrived, they do not "refresh" the rooms for longer stays. We had to ask for toilet paper, towels, etc. There isn't any coffee/hot water left out during the day. I was told to go across the parking lot to the Hampton Inn for coffee. Next time I will be staying there, so the walk across the parking lot will not be necessary. I understand it is a free breakfast, but they have cut back so much it was terrible. The picture shown on the website is not true. There is VERY little to chose from. They do not have the waffle station any longer and what was offered as far as eggs, were premade and tasteless.
I understand COVID has really changed a lot of places, but we did not feel welcomed. We felt like we were really ruining their day and they really hated their jobs. A very somber atmosphere. We travel a lot a stay in many hotels, and this stay was a shock to us since it used to be such a...
