We had a great 2-night stay over New Year's weekend. There are some talented folks working at this hotel. Every time we visited the desk, the agent was either multi-tasking between 2-3 different guests or deep cleaning the lobby area. We were always greeted promptly and with a smile. The staff at this hotel really made this a pleasant stay! The room was sparkling clean and the whole facility looks brand new.
There were only a few negatives which weren't a huge deal. I wish that the bagged breakfast included healthier options with more sustenance. We were in town for a snowboarding trip and needed protein to keep us energized. The breakfast included a packaged muffin, nutri-grain bar, a juice, and an apple. Not a deal-breaker, just something to be aware of when booking.
Lastly, the design of the room was not practical. It was still a five star stay because this isn't something that can be fixed; nor is it the fault of the hotel staff, but it's noteworthy. The bathroom is right in front of the bed. The sliding door was cute, but it made for a lot of wasted wall space. The bright light against the glass door woke up my sleeping wife when I had to use the bathroom at night. Also, the door does not lock. The toilets were incredibly low-flow and had to be flushed 3+ times after each use. There was so much unused space towards the front of the room and it seemed like every amenity was squished into the back corner, making the large room seem very small. Cable is limited. We like to watch local news channels when we travel, but there were no local channels available. I understand that Marriott is going for a modern design, but this design sucked and did not fit in with the area. I'd expect to see a hotel room like this in Europe, but not Appalachia. I don't think these features will age well.
We would stay again in a heartbeat. After the pandemic, I'd love to use the indoor pool. It's also nice that there is lots of shopping and dining within walking distance. The location is convenient to...
Read moreDO NOT BOOK HERE!!!!!
I booked rooms for 12 people - 5 adults & 7 children - four months in advance. However, when we arrived after driving for 6½ hours, we were initially told I had canceled our reservation three days prior. When I showed them that my app that showed I still had the reservation, they then told me that the company I booked through had overbooked the hotel and had canceled my reservation. After speaking to the company I booked the room through - who's system showed my reservation as still reserved- and that company speaking to the hotel, we ended up having ⅔ of our party at a hotel 5 miles away, with the only breakfast being whatever you wanted to buy at the Starbucks connected to the hotel. Never again will I make a reservation at this hotel chain.
EDIT: I returned home from vacation to find that instead of the hotel had charged my card $410.71 instead of the discounted rate of $135.00 they said they were charging me when I paid for the room. When I called the hotel to find out why I was told they would leave a note for the manager and I would have to wait until the she come back to work to find out why they charged me $410.71.
EDIT #2: I spoke with or more accurately, was yelled at by G.M. Kelly Graham - who was unhappy about my review - I was basically told that the hotel did me a favor by finding my family rooms and only charging me $410.71. Hotels use third party sites to advertise available rooms, the hotels, much like airlines, control how many are listed...
Read moreThis is my second stay. The front desk is very welcoming and was helpful through the week, especially Chloe and Robyn. I like the location, as it is outside of the downtown with no crazy parking issues or traffic. Feels safe. I really love the room layout – the desk is easy to work at. Bonus, the chair was very comfortable and the height setting worked. There are lots of plugs and USB ports. The refrigerator and microwave are nice to have when enjoying a longer stay. I like that I could fit a gallon jug of water in the fridge. The Keurig coffeemaker is nice, but I hate using them because of the plastic pods. Luckily, they always had hot coffee and water downstairs. The bed is comfy and I like the mix of pillows they have. The bathroom has a walk-in shower and hooks to hang your towels. I appreciate they have body lotion and all the bath amenities were filled. Water pressure is okay in the shower, because the large shower head has a dial to concentrate the spray. The sink had great water pressure and a higher faucet. I travel with a mug and reusable silverware, so this makes it easy to clean both. I enjoyed the pool and outside seating area, nice setting. Thank you for...
